Amazing sandwiches, super friendly staff. Get Jeremy to explain his thoughts on koji, then forget all that enjoy your sandwich! Plenty of good to come from their bakery as well. It feels good walking in!

We got takeout from here, so I can't really speak about the service. They are in a repurposed firehouse, which provides pretty neat and unique ambiance. I appreciated the homemade bread and meats they serve. I tried the pastrami: it was sliced thick and was tender like corned beef - great flavor! For my meal I got the fried chicken sandwich: not too greasy and they used chicken thighs, so it was tender and flavorful. I liked the red cabbage slaw on it, but unfortunately was not a fan of the house mayo which had strongly flavored whole-grain mustard that overpowered everything else. In the future, I would definitely order that without the mayo or see if there's any other sauce I could substitute. I also tried the latke, which was good with the sweet onion jam. It was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. We also got some fries to share. Sadly, the fries got soggy by the time we got home and ate them, but they were seasoned well and some of them still had a bit of crunch. Very generous amount for 1 order!Great quality Jewish deli that I would definitely go back to and recommend!

As good as I remember. Have not been back to this place in 5 years... but taste stays the same. 3 sandwiches we tried were phenomenal (Pastrami, Pastrami Rueben and Chicken Sandwich). My kids went as far as saying that chicken sandwich was one of the best they ever had.The only miss were extremely overstated fries. The place itself has a very cool deli vibe. Expect to wait, on Friday 2pm, the line was long

Very unhappy. Poor customer service. Pastrami on serviced on rye, I have diverticulosis and asked for any other bread, no seeds. Nope. Then waited for over 45 min for one sandwich. Absolutely ridiculous. Never again. Small, over crowed and not wroth my time and money. I'm sorry I ever tried this place. Oh, cinnamon roll was very dry. Ugggg

I last came to Larder years ago back in 2018 or so and got the Tuesday lunch special - $5 fried chicken sandwiches. I remember it being the best fried chicken sandwich I had ever had in my life - huge juicy thigh meat covered in a crunchy fried exterior. Since then, Larder has been winning awards left and right and I'm glad to see then still drumming up a lot of business. While we were in town over the past weekend, I was so excited to visit Larder again and get that delicious chicken sandwich.Unfortunately we came on a bad day - the previous night, a severe thunderstorm had knocked out the fryer and vents and the store removed all of their fried items from the menu for the day. In addition, when we arrived right before the restaurant was scheduled to be open, we were greeted with a sign outside stating that they were having oven troubles and opening would be 30 minutes delayed. As we waited around, the line got longer and longer. I think it was 25 or 30 people deep by the time the restaurant opened. While we couldn't get our first choice of food, we still had a couple of items we wanted to try.Pastrami Reuben ($18) - This is not your typical pastrami; this is thick, 1 cm cut savory salty pastrami, cut kind of like corned beef. The bark is still attached which is soft in some portions but crisp in others. The meat is super tender and easy to eat, with a thin layer of flavorful fat in some areas. There's cabbage slaw added on the bottom which adds a nice tang to balance out the fat and meat of the pastrami. Thousand island spread on the top and bottom slices of bread adds additional moisture and sweetness. Everything is placed in the middle of two perfectly toasted slices of rye. (4/5)Babka ($9) - This is one of the items we wanted to purchase in the past, but Larder was always sold out when we visited. This time, they had three loaves in stock. The babka is absolutely chock full of chocolate with the bread being pretty dense and rich. Crumbs easily flake off when you're cutting into the bread and with every bite. I think the babka might be a little too crumbly and dry actually. I wonder had been sitting on the counter for a day or two and wasn't fresh? I haven't gotten babka too much in the past and I can't say if this is a good representation, but even if not, it still tasted good. (4/5) Pricing at Larder seems to be a bit on the high side for the portion sizes given, but the quality also seems to be pretty good. I'll have to revisit Larder again in the future - I'm still dreaming of that fried chicken sandwich!

Why have I waited so long to eat here?! Went for the first time a few days ago and can't wait to return. Had the fried chicken sandwich and it was hands down the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had, ever. The chicken was so moist, well seasoned, crispy and delicious. I got a side of the Korean pickled veggies and could not get enough. The service was friendly and fast and the inclusivity and causes this places supports appeal to me. I will be back soon...and often!

I've been wanting to stop here for lunch for a few years now due to the great things I've heard about it. It's located in old firehouse which is very cool. The staff was very nice and eager to explain all their meals. The food was absolutely fabulous and I would give it more than five stars. Pastrami Ruben was terrific and was thick cut and differed as most places that serve it shaved. Everything about the sandwich was great. The Pastrami hash was even better. Perfect blend of meat, egg, bread, and spices. Enough to fill you completely.

TLDR: Good food, Tad Pricy We came to Cleveland on a mission to try all four of the 2025 James Beard nominated Chefs, and getting to kill two birds with one stone at Larder meeting chefs Jeremy and Allie was fantastic. It was our first stop on the trip and even though it was a little busy there, Jeremy took the time to give us other local restaurant recs and make us feel very welcome. The Mrs. Ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and a Shirley Temple which they were out of but Chef Jeremy comped her a homemade apple soda because it was her birthday which added to the good vibes. I ordered the Pastrami on Rye, with a side of house pickles, and potato salad to split. The sides were fantastic, the pastrami was a little all over the place texture wise but enjoyable nonetheless. The highlight of the meal was the oatmeal cream pie by Chef Allie. Best baked goods of the trip. Definitely check them out and see for yourself next time you find yourself in Ohio City

My wife and I went for the first time today because we read about the James Beard award they are nominated for. We both ordered the pastrami sandwich and split an order of potato salad. The pastrami sandwich had big pieces of marbled rye but the pastrami and kraut were not matching the amount of bread. Worse though was the pastrami. It was tough and very difficult to bite through. I've had pastrami sandwiches in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore and elsewhere in Cleveland and I can honestly say this was by far the worst. Also, the space was so cold, we had to keep our coats on and zippered. I am normally very warm. Overall, the experience was very bad.
