The food here was what I'd expect from a Mexican restaurant. It doesn't stand out but definitely is a staple in this area for as long as I can remember.The service is slower than the average Mexican place, and it's probably due to the fact that it's crazy busy all the time. Come on a Monday, Tuesday, etc, and they're typically swamped during dinner. We love how lively it often is inside.

If you are looking for a cheap place to eat and drink, this is your place. Although do not be surprised if you find a gnat in your drink or a hair in your cheese dip. I purchased a shot for my brother's birthday and noticed a gnat in it. Asked for another one and she poured another only for it to have more gnats in it. She lifted the bottle and the whole bottle was filled with them.

For some reason they cover burritos in red sauce and don't state that it is covered on the menu or in person. The chalupa isn't a chalupa It's a tortilla or something covered in beans and tomatoes and not even folded. When I called them back they told me it's not their fault so they can't do anything about it. Never go there.

Ridiculously careless service. I ordered vegetarian fajitas, which they confirmed when I picked up the other, but I received BEEF, CHICKEN, AND SHRIMP. I tried to call to let them know, but no one picked up. How can someone fuck up an order this badly?!!

La Isla is the OG Mexican restaurant in Hermitage. If you want cheaper and better food I recommend coming here. I come here for lunch and am in and out in 20 minutes max

We ordered the Guacamole Mexicano. Either they gave us Guacamole Dip and charged us more for the Mexicano version, or they don't know what Guacamole Mexicano is. That would be horrible for a Mexican restaurant.My entree had to be thrown away. I ordered the Burrito Grande because I wanted the sides- especially the refried beans. I asked to substitute the side of rice with beans. (What can I say, I like them). Instead of using a container with separated spaces for sides, this food was all thrown into one container. That wouldn't have been a problem if the beans had any consistency. They were as thin as water. I only wish I had a picture to substantiate my description. Not only could I have used a straw for them, they were cold. The burrito was saturated and soggy from sitting in this soupy bean and burrito red sauce.

The food was authentic and one of the best we have had in the area. We were seated on the patio and waited on promptly. Because we had a party of 8, two waiters assisted us. We were surprised by the large serving sizes and the margaritas were delicious. We have camped in the area for nearly 14 years and never ventured to this restaurant. We will be returning!!! Enjoyed this place and highly recommend.
