Kathy's Kolacke Shop

It's always a treat to find a local bakery when browsing in an unfamiliar neighborhood. I stopped in and purchased some kolackes and a blueberry scone, and both were delicious. The kolackes were fairly large and very flakey and light. The bakery had some savory items and many other sweet treats available.The sugar cookies were not as pretty as I often find in local bakeries, but many other items looked very tempting. Counter service was prompt and friendly.

My mom and I stumbled upon this bakery while shopping in Old River. This is the perfect addition to that area. We wanted some sweets, but were pleasantly surprised to see that Chicken Paprikash was also available. It was very good chicken paprikash too. It tasted just like the paprikash my mom made when I was growing up. The young man that helped us showed us the pan that looked like it was packaged to take home. He instantly offered to heat it and split it to so we could enjoy the chicken paprikash for lunch. That was perfect and very appreciated! I'd definitely come back just for the paprikash on future visits home.The baked goods are the ones I remember from childhood, not fancy modern bakery items. The cases were filled with delicious kolaches, poppyseed rolls, pistachio bars, and various cookies. For dessert I had an apricot kolache and really enjoyed it. The filling was minimal, but the pastry had a great texture and flavor. There were many fresh baked items already packaged up for those in a rush. Perfect little trays of cookies to take to a party or the office. The service was great. It started great with the young man that offered to heat up our chicken paprikash. When my mom ordered her poppyseed roll the owner grabbed a fresh baked one from the back. Friendly and accommodating!

They made chicken paprikas because I asked, and even called to let us know it was ready. Such great people and food!

Decent prices and cute shop in a cute area. Went here over the holidays when I was in town visiting family. Kolackes were okay, but way too much puff pastry and not a lot of flavor in the batch I had. May have been an off batch but they weren't the best and not the worst.

Great little bakery. I was here in the morning picking up items for people in the office, as we are finally getting together. I put together a collection of muffins and rolls that were simply delicious. Obviously everything here is fresh and made by the owner. Places like this are hard to find and going the way of the dinosaur. Cute shop in a great location as well.

I stopped in this afternoon for something sweet to go with my evening movie. I purchased 2 pieces of cake, 1 cupcake, and a scone. I know that's a lot, but I was going to share it with my room mate. When I went to steal a little of my room mates cupcake frosting I was appalled that the frosting was so hard my finger wouldn't even go into it. And the cupcake was hard enough to bang on the kitchen counter. Both of the cake pieces were almost as bad. I have a huge sweet tooth and so does my room mate, but we agreed to just toss everything because it was all inedible. Oddly, my neighbor had warned me that since I was going on a Saturday all of the pastry would probably be old leftovers from the week before. I should have listened to her. I would have been better off with a pack of Oreos.If you want to take a chance and try Kathy's please be sure to give everything a little squeeze before you leave, especially if you go on a Saturday.

Finally stopped at their new location and definitely worth the extra drive. New location but same outstanding quality and genuine service. Amazing cookies and pastries. Delicately crafted fruit and nut kolacke that are light,flaky and delicious gems, not the overly sweet doughy flat sinkers you find at most grocery stores that some of us are accustomed to. Great owners and staff and worth your time to try it. Old school goodness!

Kathy's Kolacke's is a small bake shop that offers lots of kolacke's that are really good but totally different from that which I'm accustomed to; nonetheless, again, they are quite delicious. They are about 2-3 larger than what I'm used to and the dough is similar to puff pastry. At .75 cents each they are moderately priced, and I'd say, worth it. The other baked items for sale, cookies, cakes, muffins, bars and so on, while good, are priced a bit higher than I believe they are worth. Kathy's makes beautiful holiday cookies and cookie trays, but again, I think the prices are too high. I will continue to buy kolackes at Kathy's.

I came to your shop today (Weds) and purchased a number of items, 2 of which were a poppyseed and a nut roll for Thanksgiving deserts. We decided to have some this evening and boy was we disappointed! Both were stale, especially the nut roll as it broke apart like a cracker it was so dry. This was my second visit to your shop and the first time I was satisfied. I like to support local business when I can but to put that out for the holidays for your customers was very discouraging.Regards,Jim Greene Bay Village
