John's Bar & Grille

Atmosphere: The feel of the bar was nice. Not super loud or filled with sketchy people. Clean and comfortable. The workers seem to have a lot of fun together. I believe my server's name was Tom. I totally would have hired that guy. He was super friendly, gave honest opinions about the food when we had questions. Food: We started off with the fried pickles. They were very good. Almost like a super crispy tempura. Although, if you have teeth issues or troubles with crispy food, probably not the fried pickles for you. Tom also brought up some bread and butter as well. I asked how the French Onion soup was and he said it was "The best on the planet" so naturally, I had to try it. It was absolutely delicious. Not the best I ever had but I would definitely eat it every time I go there no doubt. My friend got the California BLT. It came out so good-looking that I had to order a a chicken sandwich too. Unfortunately, mine was SUPER soggy, which I was surprised about given the fact that I got the mayo on the side and it was grilled chicken, not fried. So I am unsure why my bottom bun was soaked. Overall: The service was amazing, food was amazing as well (minus the soggy bun which is why it was 4 stars and not 5). I would definitely go back and chow down on some more French Onion soup and try out some of the other menu items.

Somehow the fact that this place has existed right under my nose for the 19 years I've lived in the area is amazing to me. It's less than 10 minutes from my house and is the perfect local spot to eat. Not expensive at all and great service. We got here around 5p on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. The line never shortened while we ate. The wait was about 25 minutes, but it was worth it. The wedding soup was a little different than what I'm used to, but it was GOOD. The Reuben sandwich was good, but kind of small. It didn't come with fries and I had to order those separately. My wife got the Grecian chicken pita (or whatever it was called). Everything was great. We will definitely be back.

Usually this restaurant is very good. I ordered the smothered filet this evening and I have to say it was the worst filet I've ever ordered. It was very thin and tough as nails. Flavor was disappointing. The broccoli was great if that's a plus. Over priced and under delivered.

This is their new location in Oakwood Square. Same great food they always had. My only complaint is the noise level. When it's busy, it's very loud inside. You can't have a dinner conversation at a normal volume. Think loud bar crowd and you got it.

I always love johns bar. However tonight was an even better experience thanks to Tom. We have always gotten great service but tonight was the best. TOM was hospitable the way he made us feel like we had known him forever was phenomenal. Come to find out he had only been with Johns 2 weeks. Whoever does the hiring great job. Good people are hard to come by.

My first time here and I had the egg rolls. Not what I was expecting very tasty and filling. My brother in law ordered stuffed peppers and again not what I was expecting to see, I think they were Anaheim which looked amazing. It's a sports bar and they're usually loud not here though I'm sure if the right game is on it could be. The servers were nice but maybe could be more friendly but still acceptable so that's the reason for 4 stars. Next time in town I look forward to the stuffed peppers.

This is an old timey feel place. SAD (standard American diet). If mediocre decent food is your jam, then this is the place for you. Regular burger and beer kind of neighborhood vibe.

Great food in a comfortable setting. Service was superb. Surprisingly good selection of food items for a bar, from appetizers to full meals. It was too cool for their outdoor patio but it would be a good summer choice.

Service and Ambiance great. Even the young man holding the door open for you was so pleasant. Four of us had dinner each eating something different and we were more than please. I got the special. Half serving Lasagna and stuff Italian pepper. Both Great!!

Great food and service....never disappointed....great place in a nice area of the county.
