J Bistro Downtown

If I could give this place 10000+ stars, I WOULD!! This place is an absolute gem! Not only is the food AMAZING but the service is IMPECCABLE. We took a spontaneous trip to Ohio for my daughter's birthday weekend so she could visit Cedar Point, and we found J Bistro after a quick Yelp search. The reviews were so good, so we figured we'd give it a try. We dropped in on a Thursday night and the place pretty empty. There is street parking and also an adjacent lot.We walked in and were immediately impressed by how classy the place was. It definitely has an "old school" vibe - the decor is all oak and very upscale. I was worried they would frown upon my rambunctious 3 year old, but the staff was so nice and they even had a kids meal and sippy cups! So convenient for a young family who wants to eat out at a nice place and has to bring the whole circus with them We were sat in a cozy bench-type table and our waitress, Linsley, brought us bread and it was SO WARM AND SO SOFT. It came with this olive oil, vinaigrette and parm concoction but we didn't even need it - the bread is a star on its own. We devoured it immediately. Our drinks were ON POINT. My husband had the new old fashioned and I had the white cosmo. Excellently balanced and delicious. We ordered the beet salad to share (try it - the pistachios are a game changer!) and the lobster and asparagus cheese dip. All of it was SUPERB.But the entrees were just *chefs kiss*. I had the stuffed chicken with sausage stuffing, my husband had the ribeye and my dad had the shrimp and lobster risotto. The chicken was juicy and tender. I loved the broccolini that came with it and the sour cream and chive mashed potatoes had me drooling. The ribeye was perfect. But my dad's risotto stole the show!! It was chock full of shrimp and the lobster is served ON TOP!! It was meaty, juicy, and soooo incredible. We couldn't stop raving about it. When our waitress, Linsley, found out it was our daughter's birthday, she brought her the flourless chocolate cake with a little candle - on the house Just the sweetest gesture and it meant so much to us! Overall, we will visit this place EVERY SINGLE TIME we come to Cedar Point and will tell all of our friends/family about it. This place is phenomenal and so worth the money. Don't hesitate - go NOW.

This was our second time visiting J Bistro -- a fact we didn't recall until we sat down at the same table as a few years ago (we were visiting)!We made a reservation, but being off-season and early, it wasn't necessary. The ambiance was dressy without being fussy and the bar was busy with a steady supply of visitors. Although we walked from our rental condo, we noticed most guests simply parked using the ample street parking.The meal and wine were a real treat: table bread and olive oil, squash salad (split between us), a magnificently prepared pork chop with seasonal vegetables, and a decadent flourless chocolate cake (which we also split). Our wine was a nicely matched Pinot Noir from Oregon.The service was incredibly kind, attentive, and never rushed while the total price was very reasonable ($135 including a bottle of wine).

J Bistro Downtown offers elevated American fare with a rustic touch in its warm and contemporary setting. The servers were very attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed the cup of French onion soup while my husband enjoyed fresh house salad topped with shrimp and mandarin oranges as a starter. Popular entrée dishes at J Bistro Downtown include the grilled pork chop with bourbon mashed sweet potatoes, or the Angus center-cut filet mignon with garlic cheddar mashed potatoes. Another recommendation for the vegetarian conscious guest is roasted vegetable pappardelle pasta with summery zucchini, squash, mushrooms and asparagus in a light pesto sauce. This eatery also serves fresh seafood dinners, such as the king crab and shrimp risotto, the hand-breaded Lake Erie perch with jalapeno-ranch tartar sauce. The tangy barbecue salmon and shrimp platter was amazing. We plan on returning on Wednesday evening for the every Wednesday night Pasta special.

Great place to grub and pub with friends. Amazing munchies and tasty sides big enough to share.

What a jewel! Had a dinner with a business partner, and this place split the difference between Toledo and Cleveland pretty well. Food was great, service was great, and prices were excellent. Two appetizers, two beers each and two steak dinners for $120. I'm looking for an excuse to come back.

I can't express just how amazing this place and its staff are! Yesterday we ended up on the patio of this amazing restaurant as a place to get food before heading down to the waterfront for the total eclipse, but ended up staying for the eclipse bc our server, Lyn, and the food were just too amazing to leave. Lyn was wonderfully attentive & accommodating and totally made the experience that much more enjoyable. She is truly amazing! The food was also fabulous and the patio seating could not have been a more perfect place to view the eclipse. In addition to great service and food, Susie, the manager, was so thoughtful and bought 200 hundred eclipse viewing glasses to give out to her staff and anyone who may not have been prepared and brought their own. The restaurant also set up a cute eclipse photo backdrop with a stage for people to take photos to commemorate the amazing astronomical event. All to say, this restaurant truly went above and beyond to make this already incredible moment in time even more fantastic & memorable. I cannot thank them enough! If you are ever in Sandusky, this restaurant is an absolute must stop spot!

I went here for my anniversary and it was so romantic. They waitstaff made sure to make us feel extra special. The pesto shrimp and chicken pasta was to die for, my partner also really enjoyed her meatball rigatoni. This was the best experience we have ever had at a restaurant.

J Bistro has a pleasant ambiance and great food our server has been exceptional each time.

Loved the atmosphere here! Came to the area for my bachelorette party, and we were looking for a classy restaurant for all of us. This place was by far the best restaurant choice of our trip! The food was great, the waitress was very sweet, and there was enough room not to feel crowded inside. Great place for a fun special occasion with friends or a fancy date night!

Waitress was great !! Food a little pricey. Wasn't as grand as I thought it would be . Food was OK, presentation was not good. Would I go back? Probably not
