Hunan East

General Sol delicious although meat was just a tad hard to chew.Chicken egg fu young and rice was superb.Egg roles are super awesome. Great service. Friendly. Patient. We got ours to go. But the restaurant was very peaceful.

When Richmond Mall was in decline, and then closed, and then the Pandemic hit, a lot of stores in that neighborhood also closed or barely hung on. That included a once thriving Chinese restaurant on Richmond Road right across of the Mall, Hunan East. Since 2020, it was limited to take out only. Hunan East is back as a full service restaurant for the first time since the beginning of the Pandemic! It has new very experienced ownership, and the food is OUTSTANDING!If it's not on the menu they will make it by request. For example, they made me the best Hot and Sour Soup I've ever had. Because I don't eat pork, they made steamed pot stickers stuffed with chicken and vegetables. On the menu, a first for us, Chicken with Chinese Egg Plant was delicious.We plan to eat our way through this new menu!

I had been here several years ago under different ownership. My asian parents invited us here for lunch where we had the opportunity to try 8 entrees family style. I have to say that each dish was prepared in authentic style. Everything was delicious. There was white steamed rice served which went well with the sauces that came with most of the dishes. We had the fish maw soup, kung pow chicken, spicey beef, deep fried pork cutlet strips, braised pork belly with vegetables, deep fried prawns, chinese broccoli, pork and tofu medallions,. For those familiar with chinese in NE Ohio, this was on par with my favorite Siam Cafe downtown. Would highly recommend. I would NOT call this restaurant Americanized Chinese although there are some dishes in that category on the menu.

Not bad; huge serving sizes and cheap enough but rather bland. The kung Palo chicken had almost no spice to it.

Here's my gripe with Hunan East.. The food is average, at best. These recent 4 and 5 star reviews are fake! Trust me on that. The issue I have is when I use my debit card, the owners tell me that I must be charged a fee to use my card. They explain this to me EVERY TIME- that they get charged a fee, so they must charge me as a result. But isn't that the cost of owning a business?! The fee also depends on the amount of the order and these fees are never posted. They peek behind the counter and come up with some random number. So that random fee turns into their tip! I won't be returning.

I plan to dine there tomorrow. I can't wait. I live walking distance. It sounds like they have tasty dishes.

Under new ownership , I ordered to go 3 months ago and was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED ! After 30 +yrs the old owners should have mentioned the sale of the restaurant to regulars . Hunan East HAD the best egg foo young and sweet and sour soup....now it is sub par, very bland and oily. I've NEVER written a negative review - my gripe is the sneaky way they sold and didn't have the courtesy to let loyal customers know. I see several complaints about the change being HONEST and maybe incorporating some popular items could have set the new owners up for success,which is NOT HAPPENING!

apparently, this restaurant is under new ownership, and the food is not even remotely in the same league as before. It was extremely bland and very greasy, the worst Americanized Chinese food we've had in some time. Egg soup had zero flavor and was reminiscent of dishwater. Eggplant undercooked, beef chewy, and no flavor to the chicken dish we got. Hunan East used to save us from having to drive downtown for good Chinese food, but alas, we're going to have to start making the trek again

Excellent food. As of September 2023 still carry out only. Unable to fully staff since lockdown. Hopefully they will be able to reopen dine in again.

Under new ownership? Say it isn't so. Got carry out and it was not the same and they gave us a "new menu". We have been getting this for lunch and might need to rethink this. Yuck. Greasy and small portions so there was less to throw out. Yup, that bad
