Highland Tavern

UPDATE:I used to like this bar despite the long drive from my house but the prices have really skyrocketed! Can't remember what the corn beef egg rolls used to be but they damn sure weren't $12 for three little egg rolls. Won't be going back.

Nice addition to Highland Square; clean, comfortable décor - not a huge place but big enough. I've never been here late at night or on a weekend, so it may be far more crowded at those times. I've stopped in a few times just after work and there have just been (maybe) a dozen neighborhood regulars here, maybe a young couple or two, with the jukebox on and watching some sports on TV.Excellent selection of draft beers for a bar of this size; service was generally friendly and prompt. I'd like to stop in here later some Friday or Saturday night to see what it's like; my guess is it skews toward a little older crowd, but I could be wrong. I'm a little older myself, so there's nothing wrong with that.

Very disappointed with my experience at the Tavern. The bartender was very attentive, I believe her name was Lindsay, she was fantastic. Unfortunately other people in the bar, along with someone that acted like she worked at the bar, but was not working, continuously spoke expletives over and over again to the point that she acted as if she wanted attention. Will not recommend this establishment nor will I visit this bar again.

Like Cheers in Highland Square. A good amount of regulars but also welcoming to everyone. Cleanest bar in the square. Friendly bartenders.

This is my favorite bar in Highland Square the service is awesome and I love that you could bring food from outside there and eat great beer selection and booze hell yeah

Hands down worst service I've ever had in a bar in my young adult life. Bartender with dark hair and her chest hanging out would only pay attention to you if you were a male. Only saw her twice in the hour we were there. Ruined a friends birthday. Bummer :(

Worst bar in Highland Square. Two female bartenders were rude and it was extremely hard to get their attention to receive a drink. Bought a round of drinks, they tasted fine. Ordered another round and they tasted like water. As soon as she handed me the drinks I tasted them and they all had no flavor. As if their soda machine was out of syrup. Told the bartender this and she tells me that that is impossible. Completely ridiculous. She said exchanges were not allowed, even though she just made me the drinks & set them down in front of me and watched me taste them and tell her that something was wrong. Can't believe I wasted $50 on those nasty drinks. Will never return here again.

Then, On Aug. 6, OIU agents began an investigation into the establishment and issued a violation notice for continuing to sell alcohol past the state's curfew.Staff at Highland Tavern told agents that they would not comply with the curfew and would continue to operate as normal, OIU said.On Friday night around midnight, agents conducted a compliance check after receiving a citizen's complaint. Great beer selection! No food, but they allow you to bring food in. And they'll put soccer on the back TV while you drink your beer.

I had very lackluster service today. By a rude brunette bartender! She was very short a dry in her service, and not attentive at all!
