We came here for my son's birthday on a Saturday because he was home from college and his bday is on Tuesday. The owner (or guy in charge) refused to give him his birthday discount because it was "over two days" from his actual birthday. We had a party of 6 but they put an automatic tip on the bill so clearly he did not care if we were happy. It would have only cost him $15 and he would have had happy customers. The website does not state this requirement. Very disappointed and it left a bad taste (pun intended) in our mouths after an otherwise good night with a great cook and great waitress. Interestingly when I called to make reservations, a man answered and told me to call back in 30 minutes and then he could "take care" of me. I guess I should have seen the red flag that customer service is not his priority.

Just No..... I was driving through an accidentally spent $50 bc I was in a rush to get good food and as soon as I walked in to get my order I regretted it. Threw it away bc I was scared to eat it based on the look of the food and small of the building. And photos are fake... no hibachi table in the building...

My traditional New Years Eve with friends dinner. The hibachi chef was fabulous, made us laugh and was the evening's favorite. The chef can make or break the atmosphere. Our chef was so delightful. I ordered the chicken dinner which is my mainstay. It's always delicious. My friends ordered the steak meal. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meal. The miso soup was tasty, the salad with ginger dressing was perfect.I order fried rice which is always so delicious. Our server was friendly and welcoming. The owner/manager was welcoming.Parking is ample at this independent location. We always tip our chef in addition to the server. They create the fun atmosphere.I highly recommend hibachi restaurant in independence. The Fairview location was closed New Years so we drove extra miles to dine here. Also for people on budgets, I believe there is a coupon in the local restaurant coupon books for BOGO meals. A+

This is a good place to go if you are hungry! There are many options for main entrees as they offered many different combinations of proteins: filet mignon, salmon, chicken, mako shark, fried chicken seasoned with bourbon sauce or lemon sauce, scallops, etc,. With a hibachi or combination order you receive onion soup, as well as a house side salad with your order along with sautéed vegetables and steamed white rice.I understand people's frustration with only being offered steamed rice as the accompaniment with the meal, as most places will offer fried rice or noodles as an option. Here, it is an extra $2 for fried rice and $3 for noodles. To be honest I wasn't terribly disappointed with the cost but I can see that as something people would take issue with.I ordered a side roll- tempura fried shrimp, it was good, well prepared and I was pleased. Could have gone just with sushi rolls and been happy as well! The portions are enormous and there is no getting around it. You're going to eat a ton of food when you come.It was my friend's birthday and they brought out a piece of cake to celebrate and that was a sweet gesture on their part. My friend HATES attention and singing so they understood his reluctance to acknowledge his birthday at all. I appreciated our server's judgment and quick adaptation, sensing his apprehension. The chef cooking our food was funny and talented. We enjoyed the show and tried our best to eat what we could. Since we all live out of town it wasn't possible to take leftovers. All in all, I'd say you're going to enjoy eating here. If you're cold easily please note it was pretty cold in there and I LOVE being cold. Tasty food, generous portions, good service- give them a shot!

Portion wise there was a lot! However, it was not the best. I ordered the shark and salmon with fried rice. The shark and salmon was really oily and lacked great taste to it! Vegetable portion was also oily and there was more onions in it than other veggies. I was so excited to try it since I've never had shark before, but gosh maybe cut down on the oil next time? I'm not sure if I'd like to give this a second try nor recommend it. Salmon wasn't as good as I thought it would have been. I was very disappointed. Lady at the front desk was nice, but it seemed like they were very busy in the back. When I called I was on hold for 10 mins! When she finally decided to get my order I spoke to her for less than a minute and I was done! Hopefully there are others that had a better experience than I did. I've had better hibachi and flavorful than this place.

Pretty much your standard Hibachi style Steakhouse. We had a Groupon to use, and had a good experience. They have a regular dining room when you walk in if you don't want to do the hibachi experience. They take you in the back for the hibachi. Our server was attentive, and the chef did an awesome job. He was really engaging and funny. I've been to plenty of Hibachi Steakhouses and he was one of the best I've had. He called my noodles spaghetti the whole time and told everyone the shark filet was caught in Lake Erie haha :) dad jokes galore You get the standard onion soup and side salad with a hibachi entree. One different thing is that fried rice doesn't come standard with the meal. They bring out a separate bowl of steamed rice. However, you can upgrade for $2 to traditional fried rice they cook on the flat top in front of you, or $3 for noodles cooked on the flat top. I'd recommend splurging for the fried rice. The portions are still big, but I wouldn't say it was as humungous a pile of rice and veggies as other places, but that's totally fine. It was a normal portion, not a stupid portion. My favorite part of the meal was the salmon. It was fantastic. I got a combo with that and ribeye. And while the ribeye was good, I wish I got the salmon fillets instead of the combo of 1 filet and half a ribeye. Somebody ordered shark at my table, and while I was a little too timid to go that route, it looked fantastic. I'd get it if I came back. They didn't seem to skimp on the scallops or shrimp if you ordered them. The whole process took about an hour and a half on a weeknight. It's an experience though, no complaints. They were also very good about honoring the Groupon I had. No problems on that front.

We were so disappointed in the experience we had here for a birthday celebration with 12 people. The chef at the next table was so loud, yelling! People on that end of out table had their orders totally wrong. The waitress definitely could not hear them well even though the orders were repeated. I was told that the yelling chef was often requested. Sadly that left 12 people (our table) who will probably not return.

I'm going to skip the food review because I feel like most hibachi is all the same (can't go wrong with it, ever.)The EXPERIENCE is what I want to touch on. I was in the area during my travels from out of state and honestly wanted something local and not a chain restaurant. Long story short & honest, I ended up here because Wasabi had a long wait and it wasn't far from my hotel. The hibachi chef was hysterical. No typical "ohhhh here comes the choo choo train!" Or "this is a Japanese egg roll!" as he cooked. It was constant, hilarious, PG13 jokes relating to the food and cooking methods. I was at a full table of three different parties and he had EVERYONE belly laughing. Even the huge party of 20+ people at another table were joining in. My suggestion, ask for "Mikey" and go without young children, unless you don't mind them hearing some sexual innuendos. He even made a whole sorority seated at the table across from me, who appeared to be from the original cast of Flavor Of Love, lift their heads from their phones and lose the smug looks on their faces I do recommend to the not-so-uptight people reading this
