We had purchased 2 t bones and 2 porterhouse steaks for Mother's Day. Cooked to rare and medium rare. Terrible! Tough and flavorless. Extremely disappointed.

I am giving this place 4 stars for now based on my first and only visit. It is a small place that is obviously coping with being near some marginal neighborhoods. Sign on the door asks you to 'remove your hood'. Guess who that is for.I was looking for ribs that had not been frozen. After only a brief minute or so one of the men behind the counter asked me if he could help. I told him I was new to the place and just looking around to see what they had, but did need to see their rib selection. I asked for St Louis style, which they did not have but they offered to break the bone on a different cut and then slice it in two since I was cooking for one. Theyn have bacon with the rind still on it, and chicken that steroid free. As I was checking out they gave me a package of burgers to try. I found the service good, and the offerings varied enough to warrant going back.

Hever's took over this meat market a number of years ago from the original owners. Has been a meat market here for a very long time. The founders found a fine replacement and the Hever family continues the quality and cleanliness. They had an attempted robbery there last year. Mr. Hever pulled his pistol, shot the guy and held him for the police. I admire that. Haven't been in since that but looking forward to congratulating him on my next visit.Prices are comparable for the area. Convenient parking, too.

I paid 3 of my bills today at Hever. A blonde 25-35 yr old guy was behind the counter. While explaining the 3 totals he was impatient and had disgusted look on his face. He laid all the the receipts on the counter while I waited for my change. I asked if he could staple them. He tossed stapler on counter and said "Staple your bills" I wanted to buy meat but not after that. I don't understand local business being snarky during these tough times. Lost my business

I dropped by a few months ago. When I walked in the door the man behind the counter yelled at me, saying I was parked in the wrong place and needed to move my car right away. It was remarkably rude. I left and will never be back.

I am very sad I cannot give a local business in my community a better review, but the service I received along with the product itself fairly merits such a review. All the meat was pre-packaged in the case, so I could not have it divided into convenient portions (and the man behind the counter made it apparent he wouldn't consider doing so). Not to mention I got some chicken wings which went bad after only 3 days the fridge, equalling money wasted. This place is okay for plain old hamburger, but otherwise take your business to one of the other meat shops in the area.

Was in the area and saw the "homemade sauerkraut" sign and stopped in. Found a container and should have put it back. Nothing about its appearance resembled sauerkraut. The cabbage was coarse chopped like you would for coleslaw. Tasted even worse and tossed it in the trash for a loss of almost $10 for maybe 50 cents worth of cabbage in some salt water. Do not make the same mistake as I did. I'm being generous with two stars since I don't know anything about their meats or other items. I don't think there's any chance that I'll be finding out either.

Went to Heavers on Friday and had 2 steaks cut and seasoned - t bone and a ribeye. We cook our steaks to medium rare. Steaks were uneatable, like trying to eat and old shoe. After paying $14/lb I would expect better. Very disappointed!

I am a regular shopper at Hever's Meats. Hever's has long earned my loyalty due to their stand-out customer service and the overall value that they provide. If what you need is not in the case...they will cut it fresh for you. In addition to a wide selection of meats and cheeses; I am particularly fond of their; stuffed cabbage rolls, home-made sauerkraut, stuffed pork chops and steak burgers. It is best to support local small businesses that go the extra mile.
