Grum's Sub Shop

This place is a local institution and has changed little since my college days over 30 years ago. Most of the decorations are the same, this place is timeless.Based off many visits over decades. Located on/Coventry, little take out shop serves a number of top quality subs. If you get a full size, you should be really hungry. Half is enough for most people I think.I love the Grum, but try different subs until you find your favorite.Service is typically friendly and reasonably quick.You can take it home or walk down the street and eat on a bench or the common area. If you want a sub, this is the place.

Grums aka Grumpy grums ..worst service lately that I've ever had. They got my order wrong- didn't offer to fix it and just handed me my money back, then I came back a week later & when I walked in they told me they can't serve me and I'm not welcome back anymore. They couldn't give me a reason why. Also The "end your phone call before you order" sign is very distasteful, I'm 50 years old and my family and I have been giving them business for decades but it's changed very much.

Just under $14 for a large sub which is enough for two meals. My sub was done in six minutes flat and was hot to boot. My Grumsteer today had a lot of roast beef and horseradish sauce under melty cheese. It was the most flavorful I've had in a Grum's sandwich and the bread was super soft and fresh too!

The subs are quite large but I would tend to say they are a bit on the pricier side compared to other sandwich shops. I believe at the end of the day that you'll either like this place or not based on if you enjoy their unique "Grum Spices" that are liberally applied to the few sandwiches that I've ordered from here.

There wasn't much to be encouraged about here. Blah food, no more pride in making the best sandwich.Give me a break, anymore they only want your money on overpriced garbage

This is the only shop I ever want a sub from. I have never been dissapointed, as my sub choice has been consistently great. I always order the grumster with added turkey. The bread and ingredients are always so fresh. 01/24/25.

A more tasty sandwich and the antipasti salad was Bland as ever!!! Over time either U get better or it just not worth it!!!

Best sandwich shop on the east side. Always great. Always fresh. Always very good, friendly and fast service. Benches available for your short wait. Consistently delicious!

As the proud owner of grums for over 20 years I would like to respond to a recent review left by Luis A. Luis had been coming into our store quite often for the previous month and had consistently been rude to my employees to the point when they DREADED every time he can in. On the day he speaks of he ordered what he usually did. Me, the owner made his sandwich, put it in his bag and I handed it to him and said "have a good one buddy". He takes the bag and kinda lifts it up and down like he's a human scale and says "what is this?". I politely responded "that's your sandwich, that's what you ordered". He proceeds to say "this is too light". I said "I don't know what to tell you, I put everything in there like i have for the last 20 years". He responded by saying "I'm not paying for this". By this point he had already paid so I told the employee to give him his money back, then he walked out the door. He got the EXACT sandwich he ordered, he just didn't think it was heavy enough. After he left I told the other employees the next time he came in to tell him he wouldn't be served. He showed up a week later and my brother, the co owner told him we wouldn't serve him. Luis then tried to "big time" my brother and say who do I need to talk to and my brother politely informed him that he was one of the owners and there wasn't anyone who was going to change it. Combine having to throw the sandwich away along with his continuous awful attitude and being rude to our employees it was an extremely easy decision. I have never responded before to a negative review but this one was so delusional and absurd I felt the need to defend our store. As a quick side note, he is right about one thing. We do have a sign that says "we will not help you if you are on your phone, please hang up, then order". He says this is distasteful. I say distasteful is being rude and talking on your phone while someone is trying to help you and take your order.

Unmatched!!! It's so good. I just tried it for the first time and I'm literally addicted.
