the front of a giant eagle pharmacy

I visited this Giant Eagle a few times over the years while en route to boating in Vermilion. Visiting during a pandemic is especially strange, but I just wanted to take a moment to give a shoutout to this Giant Eagle, even if its a short review.I felt like this store was truly taking safety precautions seriously. The aisles were appropriately marked in one way directions, the staff all had masks on, and I saw employees regularly sanitizing high-touch areas. At check-out they also had plexiglass between you and the cashier. They had an ample amount of registers open, even though it was a not busy time, and I was able to get in and out quickly.Thank you, Giant Eagle, for taking safety seriously during covid-19!

I normally do not like to leave a low or bad review but this store wasn't up to the standards I expect from the previous stores in this franchise where I have shipped. It wasn't busy this particular Saturday. I needed to pick up my prescription and my husband decided to shop with me since he had the day off. We took our time and my husband asked the butcher for a prime rib roast. Thank you, sir, for assisting him with his request. You are an excellent employee. So, no, I'm not a convenience store type of shopper. I get items from nearly every department. At the checkout there were two self-checkouts open and two regular checkouts, one of which was marked for handicapped access. I opted for the longer line in my belief that self checkout decreases the workforce. I leave a handicap line, parking space, or restroom for those truly handicapped. With customers 3 deep a call went out for cashiers to come to the front. A fairly common occurrence when lines increase. The minute the lady in front of me was done, the bagger stepped over to the newly opened register to bag as the cashier in my checkout line finished that order and started mine. Not a problem, that is the general rule unless each cashier has a bagger. The problem arose when the store had 2 baggers and neither one came back to the line where my groceries were being rang up. I had a full cart of groceries. Not only did I have a full cart but I had my own bags and I sorted my groceries according to the bag I wanted them packed in. The bag was placed first followed by the groceries which were put in an easy order to pack. Large heavy items to the bottom and lighter items on top. Cold, frozen, meat, produce, etc. Still no bagger. Instead, the cashier never paused with my bags, she shoved them to the end of her conveyor belt. Nothing was sorted to make her life or mine easier so that she could speed through the ringing of the items as fast as possible. She was "offended" when she finished ringing my groceries and reached to start bagging because I told her to not touch my groceries, do not make an attempt to bag them now. Especially since I was bagging them. She proceeded to turn her conveyor belt on and knocked my eggs over. I had 2 dozen and they were stacked on top of each other. My bread was not bagged at this point either and would have been mashed. Fresh bakery items. I told her that I would not pay for those groceries until I finished the job that the store's chicken shit baggers ran from so she would not be checking another customer out. There was no one behind me. Not one bagger, and I saw 2 because I looked, came to offer to bag my groceries. She totally ignored my efforts of how to bag my groceries because speed was more important than bagging while ringing.I do not do this only for me, I do it to make their jobs faster and easier. Instead, my wishes were ignored and having my own sturdy bags was frowned upon by this Giant Eagle. I will not return. You need to step into the new century and hire a few people who understand what using recycled bags means for them, their jobs, and our future. This store falls severely low on the Giant Eagle brand.

Not what I remember from Giant Eagle's past in terms of quality, cleanliness, etc. Now granted it had been 12 years since I stepped foot in one (which was new at the time) so that probably has something to do with it. Either way it was easy in, easy out, with prices that are higher than a Kroger or Meijer. Pretty convenient to have in Vermillion though and I would atop here regularly if I lived here.

I just moved into town and needed a few things from the grocery store. I found my way to each product pretty quickly so no problem there. When I arrived at the checkout there was one regular lane open and one self check out open. When I arrive to the regular check out I was the fourth person in line. The checkout clerk was moving the slowest of any clerk I have ever witnessed. She seriously had no investment in the time that people were waiting in line. So, to my detriment I got out of line and went to the self check out. After a couple of minutes it was my turn at the self check out register. Thanks my first product and set it down in the bagging area. At that point the register says to wait for assistance With my light flashing. Evidently one person in the entire store and can help me since a couple of people that work there just walked by me with no ever doubt. Eventually after 10 minutes someone from the service desk finally comes over to see what my problem is after one of the patrons behind me finally goes to the service desk to ask for help. As it turns out you can only use the self check out if you have a Giant Eagles card. Obviously I had no idea this was the case or I would have stayed in the very, very slow line. Anyway, everything to this point is just inconvenience. Unfortunately the young woman at the service desk then provides me with plenty of attitude as if I have inconvenienced her in someway. She reset the register re-scans my first product, gives me a look like I'm stupid and proceeds to walk away. Goes back into the same message as before. Five or six people behind me are clearly agitated at my inability to finish my purchase. The young woman walked back over to my register clear the code again. I asked her what the problem was this time and she told me that the schedule had picked up the fact that the problem had been scammed again. What should've been a five minutes stop to the grocery store and it up being almost 20 minutes. With the sheer complacency and contempt of the staff and the fact that I cannot check out unless I sign up for one of their cards has put giant eagle on the do not shop list for me.

A good grocery store. Fairly well stocked. Nothing bad comes to mind.

The products at this Giant Eagle are priced higher than similar grocery stores in the area. It's also a small store, so the selection is limited. Don't come here expecting to find everything you need to make a recipe you saw on Food Network. There is next to nothing in the store's "ethnic" area. Also, the meat selection is limited. You can find a much wider range of cuts and meat varieties at grocery stores in Lorain and Sheffield. Also, avoid shopping on Sunday. The old ladies that shop on the weekends here are SLOW AS HELL and very territorial. They will meander in front of a shelf for fifteen minutes and no amount of polite 'excuse me's will get them to waddle out of the way.

Went in Friday after work to get some deli meats that were needed for Saturday. I was there at 5:01pm. THE DELI WAS CLOSED!!! There was a sign saying "We'll be open at 7am". At 7am, I will have already been at work FOR 2 HOURS!!! What a useless grocery store!

Very sad, now I remember why I had not been to Giant Eagle in soooo long! But we had been to the Farm Market, so thought we would save some time! Most items were very overpriced or just plain unacceptable! The produce was very sad looking and below standards yet was very expensive! I would not have taken it if it was free! The only thing worth buying were the bananas, which the cashier seemed to think was a ball, since she threw them, along with the rest of the groceries, down to the bagger! Needless to say, I will still have to go to the store, since I could not afford very much there and refused to pay those prices! I was not happy and will not be back!

Went to pay for my groceries , the Packer lady ask me to put on a mask , I had to reach in my pocket to get it, she started yelling to the manager "he won't put on his mask , he won't put on his mask" the manager started raving about you need to put a mask on which I had already put on my face, was very embarrassing and degrading for me , will never shop there again !

Small by current standards, but stocked with all normal needs. Clean. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Reminds me of the corner store of my past, but with everything I need. Great store! Management should be proud.
