Elmwood Home Bakery

Thank you Elmwood Bakery for bringing our family a piece of Easter tradition with this beautiful daffodil cake. It was the same light sponge cake with lemon frosting that I remember from my childhood. There are not many bakeries left that still make the daffodil cake so I was very excited when I called Elmwood Bakery and learned that they had this delicious Easter treat. Elmwood Bakery has been around since 1944 and the high quality of their products is the reason why. Highly recommend Elmwood Bakery in Lakewood OH.

Elmwood never, and I mean NEVER fails to impress! Obviously, my son's birthday looked a little different this year, but he always looks forward to his Elmwood date and nut cake. Once again, Elmwood delivered!

After reading all the rave reviews I couldn't wait to try this place...but had to. The first time I went it was closed because it was just their normal day to be closed. The a month later I tried and they were on vacation. I finally got to go today and thought it was overrated. The selection was pretty lame. I'm not sure if it's because we were there after noon or what but there wasnt much to choose from. We got some cinnamon rolls because they were something everyone was talking about. They were really good but way smaller than I sas hoping for. The danishes were just ok, the cheese one had an odd flavor. The brownies are overly sweet and the flat cinnamon sugar nut thing is weird. When they were closed for vacation I ended up at fragapane in north olmstead and it was so much better with an incredible selection.

Great little old school bakery, they have fresh baked pastries, cookies, cupcakes and a variety of breads and rolls. They also make cakes for any occasion. The service is great and freindly, they have been family owned for over 80 years so you know their doing something right. We bought a dozen of their chocolate chip and a dozen of the oatmeal raisin cookies. They were fresh and delicious.

I parked at a meter on Madison to walk with my 1-year old. The owner approached me as I was getting my 1-year old out of the car to ask if I was going to his bakery. When I said no he told me I shouldn't be parking near his shop and should move my car. This was at 10am on a Thursday and I'm not exaggerating by saying I was the only car parked on Madison.

I normally just visit this nice bakery at Christmas and Easter as there are not many small bakeries left anymore. The pastry's, cookies and cupcakes are always very good. Employees are very helpful and friendly.Was looking for a new place to purchase Paczki as in the past have tried Becker's and Rudy's. Becker's was pretty good and Rudy's is so overrated as last year had some and they were so dry. Ordered some this year from Elmwood and was not disappointed as they were excellent, so very fresh and had an abundance of filling. Will definitely be ordering them again next year.

Owner is extremely rude. If you park in the lot in the back, make sure as soon as you step out of the bakery, you're stepping straight to your car to move it out of the lot otherwise you will be harassed by the owner. Might also harass you as you park (as he did to us) very unprofessional and unpleasant experience. People inside were nice, baked goods were "ok". Not enough to overcome the emotional damage associated with them.

My family purchased $60 worth of bakery from this business and spent 5 minutes shopping while my dad waited in the car. We got back to our car and the owner came to our car and accused us of shopping at other businesses while parked in their lot. We tried explaining to him that we only shopped at the bakery and were there less than 5 minutes. He began arguing with us and said we should've walked through the back alley instead of down Elmwood and Madison, and told us to not come back. We have supported this bakery for years and we were so appalled by this behavior!

Bread was great. The employees inside the shop were great. The owner is ABSOLUTELY awful. My friend and I went here to get some bread/pastries before Christmas, so we parked in the lot behind the bakery. An aggressive man (who we soon found out was the owner, allegedly) rudely told us that we better be going into the bakery to park there. We politely responded that we're indeed going to the bakery. We went in and bought some bread for Christmas and gave the shop business for the holidays. On the way out, we stopped next door for 10-15 minutes max to support another local shop for Christmas. When we arrived back at our cars, the owner was yelling at us claiming that he has called a tow truck because our cars were there for "a very long time." He saw my bad with a few things from the other shop and was extremely rude about me going anywhere else. What a great community man he is wow...He started screaming that he pays for this lot and to never come back and honestly I'm sure other profanities that I simply ignored because I slammed my door shut as he started screaming at me. Not to mention he told us that we had to pay him $40 to call the tow truck off. Pathetic. This man needs to get himself in check and also watch his attitude. To act this way any day is horrific. But to act this way the day before Christmas and when we supported his shop and another local business is disgusting and pathetic. He is lucky that I spent a dime of my money at his establishment. I will not be back again. DO NOT shop here and give this awful man business. There are plenty of other amazing Lakewood businesses with lovely owners.
