Wow! This was incredible! This is the first time I ever had Puerto Rican food, and I am a convert!!!I wandered into El Turpial and was pleased at how immaculate the floor and tables are. Extremely clean. They take much pride in cleanliness, that scored major points with me.El Turpial appears to be a mom-and-pop family-run restaurant, that has plenty of room for indoor dining, as well as a variety of to-go options. Wanting to come to support local businesses, I figured I'd give this a try. Plus the pictures of the food had my mouth wateringThe staff was friendly and helpful, and explained the menu to me. I had the chicken empanadas which were delicious. They had a tasty, slightly sweet taste on the outside, and on the inside the chicken was juicy, packed with flavor, and the melted cheese had an amazing savory, tangy flavor that practically melts in your mouth.I then indulged into the pastrami sandwich, which just smacked of deliciousness. Reminded me of something I could get in New York City. The bread had a great chew, firmness, and fresh baked taste. The pastrami was premium quality, and everything they put on it was perfect. And it was huge! I didn't want to eat too much, but I couldn't stop because it was so delicious!I love this place, and plan on returning next time I'm in Ashtabula to try some more Puerto Rican dishes! Wonderful!
