My now-husband and I moved to the Falls in 2018, and shortly after, El Papa's opened on Howe Road. It quickly became one of our favorite restaurants--certainly the best Mexican in the Falls. At some point during the pandemic, they unfortunately closed. We have been really underwhelmed by the most popular place in the Falls (not trying to bash them), so we were definitely missing El Papa's.We were ecstatic when we saw they were reopening on State Road, just 5 minutes from our house. The menu is more or less the same, and the interior is similar but slightly nicer. The bar area is huge and looks very cozy. There is a small but inviting patio I look forward to sitting on next time we go. The place was spotless.I had fajitas, and they were fresh and grilled perfectly. Beans were incredible--so creamy. My husband had one of his old favorites, the Santana Burrito (carnitas with salsa verde), and it was even better than he remembered. I am excited to try the chile colorado, one of my favorite dishes there, next time we go--which I have no doubt will be very soon.Get the Memo style margaritas. Again, they taste fresh and not like the lime green artificial ones. We are so happy to see El Papa's back in our community!

We were given the wrong order. Quickly identified and corrected.Food was on a par for many Mexican restaurants, not on the level of the top 3 or 4 in greater Akron.Worth going to...draw your own conclusions

I picked up food for lunch yesterday. I had previously ordered food on doordash when they were on Howe rd, but luckily they moved right down the street from me! I ordered the street tacos, which were really good, came with 3 tacos. There was plenty of carne asada, and it wasn't dried out, which always seems to be a challenge with steak. Double corn tortillas for the tacos, which is how it should be done. The tortillas were nice and thick, but just a tad greasy. The salsa they give you for the tacos had the perfect amount of spice, while the salsa for the chips was mild but still good. Rice and beans were good as well. I have no pictures because I was hungry and ate it before thinking about it lol.

While I understand this is a new restaurant, it took seven minutes after we were seated for someone to approach us at the bar . Ordered a margarita and a beer. They did not ask what size and brought us a large beer automatically. The margarita was uninspiring. Their salsa is very heavy in cumin/pepper and not easy on the palate. Ordered cheese dip and it took some time for us to even get chips and salsa and another 5 minutes after server realized he forgot the cheese. Watched two customers fajitas come out of kitchen - not sizzling, not steaming . 8 minutes later they take our order. No one followed up. No one came for a second drink order. No one brought or offered water. The rice had no seasoning, the beans were mediocre. The chimichanga was middle of the road. After our initial visit, there is no reason to return. El Papas will need to step up their game to compete with many more tasty Mexican venues.

I really liked this place when it was on Howe Road, so I was anxious to try the new location, which I only did recently. I judge a Mexican restaurant by its salsa & this was so disappointing. It was so watery that I could not get any salsa on my chip. It was more runny than any salsa that I have ever had & there were hardly any peppers or onions in it. It was the worst that I have ever had. I also ordered the Burrito California. It was a huge portion, but was extremely dry. The sauces that it was supposed to come with were non existent. The peppers & onions in the burrito were totally raw. I was very disappointed & will not be back there.
