At the last minute the Sunset Memorial funeral director said we should invite people afterwards for a funeral meal. That never came up during our planning. He recommended Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center (7370 Columbia Rd, Olmsted Falls, OH 44138). That was another mistake. He claimed they took credit cards. But that organization does not have their act together. Young waitress there immediately arrogantly and rudely refused to take credit cards so I drove over a half hour home for the check book. By the time I got back my guests were leaving. Manager adds insult to injury and says they could have taken credit cards. Should have fired the waitress for playing that cruel prank! Notice also they are too arrogant to respond to their negative Yelp reviews and make things right. Shame on you!

Everything deep fried with no gluten free batter options. Basically nothing for a person with celiacs.

I've been a member here since 2000 & I love it! The restaurant is open to the public for lunch, the bar open most nights & for events & soccer games. This club was built on the backs on the local Danube swabians & u should check out their history. My grandpa Paul Thiem drank at the old club with his friend al wiegand. The sommer oktoberfest is going right now, third week of August fri-sun every year. It's a great festival, drinking eating & dancing galore under the tent. $5 entry, busiest on sat. All volunteers working it from the club & are very nice folks. Nice buffet of the classic German standards & five star brats & sausages. Come & visit the famous festival wine garage for the best German wines in the world SCHLOSS ZELL, the best because I rep them. Javole! After the festivus they conveniently sell them in the club bar. EIN PROSIT EIN PROSIT DER Gemütlichkeit rinse & repeat. Danke!

Prost! I lived in Germany and always miss it dearly. The Cultural Center first came on my radar in college because my college best friend's family is involved here on a heritage level. However, I recently visited with a group of friends for lunch and was just smitten! The restaurant is open to the public and a big win.For lunch, I had the schnitzel with sauerkraut. The portion of schnitzel was huge and I loved that the kraut had a distinct, sour flavor. I hate when my kraut is sweet. We started with the ham and bean soup (don't knock it until you try it) and it had a hearty consistency without the overwhelming bean taste. The menu is filled with all types of German staples you'll easily enjoy! The restaurant is located inside the Center and can be accessed through the main doors of the Cultural Center. The parking lot is free, huge and has accessible spots. When you walk in, you're immediately greeted by a sprawling hall filled with German history and a cozy fireplace. I simply loved it here and can't wait to return!

First time here, lunch with a couple of coworkers. One of my friends and I like to split multiple dishes, so that is what we did. I am also a sucker for pretzels, so I ordered one for the table to share. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating to our group. While the pretzel was cooking, our server brought out the soups and salads that were ordered with our meals. The side salad that came with my meal had a wonderfully tangy Dijon vinaigrette dressing on top along with a nice selection of lettuce and grape tomatoes. My coworker loved the chicken tortellini soup he got.Nexrt was our Bavarian pretzel appetizer. It was thin (in diameter) and the outside appeared overcooked as it was almost impossible to break pieces off...even though the inside was chewy. It was a little strange in its consistency. However, the beer cheese dip that accompanied it was delicious, so much so that i used a spoon to eat the last bit left over after the pretzel was gone! The two main dishes we shared were the chicken schnitzel and chicken paprikash. The chicken schnitzel was plump and moist with a mild dill gravy sauce on top that also covered the spätzle. The chicken paprikash was full of paprika flavor and nicely creamy along with large chunks of chicken and spätzle. I think i liked both dishes equally and would easily order either one again. Most people don't know that Donauschwaben's has an "every day" restaurant available for lunch and dinner...now we do and we will definitely be back.

Went here last night for the fish fry as it came highly recommended to me. First the logistics, this place gets busy. They serve from 4-8pm, we got there at 5pm and the line was long. You wait in line as soon as you walk in to order and pay. Then you take your receipt to a hostess who seats you at a table of 8 with others. You hand your waitress your slip and the process begins. Meals included bread/butter, decaf coffee and water, which was at the table when you sit down. I got the baked fish/fried fish combo with coleslaw and a baked potato. My husband got fried fish with fries. Everything was really good. The fries were probably the best. We also got dessert which was an apple crumb square. Note - you do not get sour cream with your baked potato. It is $1 extra and you have to order it at the beginning. They had vendors selling stuff in the lobby too like Girl Scout cookies, doll clothes, etc.
