Classic shakes and ice cream. Doc's Shake Shoppe is one of Parma's local favorites. It has all the typical frozen treats. Besides shakes they also have slushies and freezes. There's regular ice cream too. Basically you order at the window and get it to go. It can be hard to find because it's back from the road. The building is behind the yellow house. It has a parking lot between. The menu is pretty typical. It's about $2 for a medium slushie. The ice cream cones are about $3 or so. It doesn't have much in the way of amenities. It has a few trees you can sit under to get shade. There may or may not also be tables.

Doc's Shake Shoppe is a bit hidden, behind the yellow house to be exact, so don't drive too fast or you might miss it!After ordering, you can either enjoy your ice cream at the picnic table area located on the side of the building or take it home with you! Come support local!

I can't believe I have not rated this place yet...This is one of the most underrated ice cream places in the local area!! I live very close and often forget to stop and pass it by because it's easy to miss. Located on State Rd just south of the Pleasant Valley intersection, it's hidden back from the road and shares a driveway with a yellow house. They are currently open daily 3-9pm. It's a local soft serve place that offers the typical cones, shakes, sundaes, and flurries. The soft serve ice cream is sooo good and creamy. I always get an Oreo flurry because the taste of the vanilla soft serve is so yummy and they fill the cup with huge chunks of Oreos. A small is a good size and only $3.10, very cheap and I love to support a local business like this. I wish more people supported this place, I always wonder if they will open the next season because of the low traffic. But they have been in the area for over 50 years now so they must be successful! There's nothing overly unique or mind-blowing about this spot, but it's a neighborhood staple and I believe every area should have a place like this to get a good serving of ice cream on a hot summer day. This place is ingrained in my memory from childhood and I want it to continue be a place where I can go with my family. Very good!!

I grew up in Parma living just down the street from this ice cream shop and spent many summer days sneaking quarters out of my parents' room so I could satisfy my sweet tooth. I am not in Parma anymore, but I always make it a point to pick up a cone or a cup for myself if I'm ever in the area. They have a huge menu of all types of frozen goodness in a variety of flavors. Sundaes, flurries (akin to DQ's blizzards), milkshakes, hard ice cream, slushies, freezes (slushies mixed with soft serve vanilla... AMAZING), and other treats. My personal favorite is the "Gold Brick" flurry, which is soft serve vanilla mixed with toffee bits and other crunchy candy bits. Believe me when I say that it is heaven with every spoonful. I would also recommend their freezes, ordered UNMIXED. It's a wonderful fruit and cream combo. Did I mention that they carry Blue Moon and Superman ice cream flavors, which are getting harder and harder find around these parts? The shop is family owned. It used to be stationed in the little building up front, but they moved a few years ago to the bigger and better building behind it. They do employ teens in what appears to be their first job ever, so have patience with them. If you're lucky enough to get the guy that runs the place, the guy that's hooked me up since I was a kid, you will get an extremely generous portion and a perfect blend of ingredients.I'm not here to compare it to other ice cream shops. All I know is that I grew up with it, so I know it, and I love it.

Doc's Shake Shoppe is a hidden gem in Parma, just south of Pleasant Valley on the East side of State road - look for the red awnings behind the yellow house. You'll be glad you did.Doc's still makes all the old fashioned favorites - one way that I test whether I will return to an ice cream shop is by ordering a chocolate ice cream soda. If I get a "what's that" or worse, a senseless waste of concocted ingredients, I know. And that happens more than half of the time, and almost always if a HS kid on their first job takes my order. Doc's got it right, and fast, the first time I went there and I've been coming back ever since. This time, I ordered a chocolate malt and it was heaven. Also among our orders was the Krazy Kookie Dough ice cream, which was bright yellow with red chunks of cookie dough - the kids loved it and the colors were really off the wall and fun. A simple rootbeer float rounded out the order and we paid just under $12 for the three orders. This is a family owned business and it's worth a stop for ice cream, shakes, sundaes, floats, or whatever you like, and even though the menu board says "cash only", there is a chance that the person will have a card reader for their cell phone.

Beyond the ice cream, the owner should be teaching at Business Schools. This place has been around since I was a kid in the 1970s (when it had the red staircase and was right on the edge of State Rd.), and has literally outlasted everything within a large radius. All other businesses have turned over, and most of the people who lived nearby in the 70s are now dead and gone, and their children don't even live in Cleveland (I don't either, but when I visit and if it is summer, I make sure I still go to Doc's).Yet, Doc's Shake Shoppe has survived!! It is almost like HG Wells' Time Machine or something, that a small business selling ice cream can last over half a century into the 2020s!!

WOW! First timers! We never knew this place existed and literally caught a glimpse as we drove by and had to turn around to go back. My husband and I both got a scoop of a hard-serve ice cream. Family owned (read the story online!) Really good ice cream. Lots of variety! Inexpensive. And just overall delicious. Thanks, guys!
