I came for a pound of jerkies and left with a new love for candied bacon.Darn them at Dionne's...I tried 1/4 lb of their delicious tender thick cut smoked bison jerky, black pepper jerky, and teriyaki jerky. The gentleman helping me slid me a piece of the sweet and spicy bacon jerky (aka bacon candy) and I was hooked instantly. The next day I returned and bought a whole pound. I'm hoping it lasts more than a few days...it is truly a must try. Tender but chewy,Sweet but peppery. Not spicy at all so don't let the name fool you.

While at the Westside Market we toured all of the different vendors and trust me there were all kinds! Pastries, drinks, coffee, meats (and I mean all types of meats), gyros you name it. After looking through the entire Market we headed back here because the guys working here were so nice and very talkative. Sara ended up buying a BACON BOMB! This is a piece of meat that's made up of hamburger, Spivey Italian Sausage, diced Bell Peppers, jalapeños, onions, cream cheese than wrapped in a weaved ball of bacon. Sara can't wait to make it when we get home. This was a great place with great people!

I loved the idea of a jalapeno popper stuffed tenderloin. The proportion of cream cheese was ridiculous. From one slice of tenderloin, there was about 2-3T of unnecessary cream cheese...this was after my half inch piece was smothered in cream cheese. I understand that they sell by weight, but seriously!? The only jalapeno was the 4 small slices on the top that fell off as soon as the cream cheese went everywhere. The recipe would be great if there was actually jalapenos and less than a 8oz brick of cream cheese per pound.

What a great find! While strolling through the market with my husband Dionne's Meats caught his eye. They had some beautiful stuffed onions and he could not resist. He brought home two and I decided to have a skewer of stuffed mushrooms. I am so glad we did. I have them in the oven now and they smell as amazing as they looked. The guys that helped us were friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they wrote cooking instructions on the items for me - huge help when I got home! I loved their large selection of meats and the cuts were beautiful. And the prices - those are amazing. we got two stuffed onions and a skewer of stuffed mushrooms for $9! That's pretty darn good in my book! I took a break from writing to finish dinner and let me tell you it was amazing! I made my home made red sauce and some linguine to accompany them, heated some rustic Italian bread I got at Christopher's Bread (see my review there, too) and had a fantastic dinner for us in less than an hour. Jason had his with red sauce on them and no noodles and found them very filling. The meat was perfectly seasoned and the he loved the sweetness of the roasted onion and bacon. It's a must on our next market list.I pulled my mushrooms off the skewer and topped my linguine with them and I loved them. I could make a meal out of just a couple of skewers alone! So easy and so good. Much like Jason I am ready to go back and get more. Thanks Dionne's Meat! We'll be back!

I got a variety of the turkey and chicken sausages from Dionne's, and cooked them this past weekend on the grill. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the products. They gave me a card with cooking instructions for the sausages since I hadn't purchased them before. I thought the sausages were a good deal at $4.49/lb (each link is about 1/3 lb). I was told to either use them within 2 days or freeze them because they contain no preservatives. We tried the "red, white, and blue" (cherry, cream cheese, and blueberry) chicken sausage, spicy chorizo chicken, cilantro lime chicken, tequila lime chicken, 4 cheese, and mild Italian (I don't remember if those last 2 were turkey or chicken). We just cut them all up so everyone could try a little piece of each. The spicy chorizo and cilantro lime were the group favorites, and I would make a special trip back to the WSM just to get more of those. I took a risk on the red, white, and blue because I will compulsively try any food that sounds wierd, but even I didn't really like it. I like their spirit though, and hope they keep experimenting with flavors!

Dionne's is our WSM meat stand of choice. They're probably have the biggest selection of meats in the market and have 3 separate stands that each specialize in a certain type of meat - poultry, beef, and pork. A good portion of their selection is specialty meats such as stuffed peppers and stuffed pork chops. All of it is good and the staff are helpful with cooking instructions. Make sure you pick up a card so you don't forget how to fire it up when the time comes. Prices are reasonable as well. If you are just looking for just a plain cut of meat, they have those too but you may want to shop around and find which butcher suits you the best. They are all unique and have their own forte.

Visited as they were about to close on a Friday. The guy behind the counter was super nice. I purchased some stuffed peppers and he wrote the cooking time and temperature on the wrapper. I made them for lunch today and they were fantastic! Just the right amount of heat in the pepper and the sausage was delicous. I will visit them next time I am the WSM and try something else.
