Great customer service and great Deedlious Foods of the Soul. A Definitely five star establishment

Hey Yelpers,I looked this store for one main reason. Their cherries are delicious!!!!!! The cashiers are pretty sweet, too! However, a manager rudely spoke to a cashier making many people in the store uncomfortable and wanting to encourage her. Even when we are upset we should handle others carefully outside of the atmosphere of the customers. His attitude definitely affected the ambiance. It was nice to see everything clean as well. I don't think I've ever come here and seen rotten fruit or an area really dirty. It's definitely worth a visit coming here - the fresh, delicious fruit, clean ambiance and kind cashiers will make your visit so worth it!

Two words will keep you coming back to Dave's Supermarket: Manager's Special. The quality and pricing of Dave's meat is remarkable on any day ending in Y... but the specials are the hook for me. In most markets, the meat inventory is put out in large batches and sits on the floor longer. From what I have enjoyed, the markdowns happen faster at Dave's and that means fresher meat at discount prices. Lamb burgers anyone?

Watch your purse in the parking lot, store and registers! Very high crime area. Lots of thugs in the parking lot when you pull in and nasty people walking the isles. Definitely not a clean place. I walked in and walked out hoping my car wasn't stolen! No thanks!

The previous reviewer generously gave this place 3 stars. I couldn't disagree more. The quality of goods is unsatisfactory. I purchased some spoons here that rusted within a month's time. A spatula acquired here was fragile and utterly worthless. Food brands found here are modest and low-end. The freshness of their produce is sometimes questionable, especially on Sundays (when the Roo Express takes UA students here). The store is located in a particularly scary and high-crime part of Akron. If one had to walk here at night, I would suggest: 1) wearing a bullet-proof vest, and 2) obtaining a comprehensive life insurance policy. Nonetheless, this is the local store for UA students and the rest of the neighborhood. Considering the clientele this market aims to serve, the prices are abominable and atrocious. The cost of produce is especially egregious. On several occasions, they posted a sale sign indicating a particular item was on sale, only for me to find out differently upon checking out at the cash registers (read your receipt!). I guess being the only grocer in the area grants Dave's a license to be avaricious and rapacious. If you are a UA student, consider taking the Roo Express to either Acme or Giant Eagle on Saturdays; neither of the 3 are cheap, but at least you will get what you pay for.

If you like soul food, Dave's is the place. Great selection of barbecue sauces, too. I've scored some great deals on produce there, as well.

Shopping here is always great cause they have food that I can get back home in the south. The customer service and the people who work here are terrible though. I came In today January 24 and went to check out. The cashier who was old, Africcan-American and wearing a white and black striped shirt had an attitude the entire time I was checking out. The card read kept reading rejected my card once because it's a lard purchase and I have to verify the purchase. She walked over to a white woman named gayle and started bad mouthing me to her then came back and asked me very rudely so I want to put everything back or what? The card reader said it was waiting on cashier in order to go through. I will not every be coming back here if this is how customer service is. I've worked in customer service for 5 years and I have never treated someone so rudely. By the way my purchase with through and I do have money in my bank. Please let Sharlene and Gayle know they need to not be so bitter and rude.

This place has a a safe environment, cops onsite. I just want to say that the people who are in the hot foods section are great at cooking that food, Best Food in Town. Hands Down. Those people deserve a pay raise for keeping that food so delicious Thank for your wonderful service and also the cashiers are also respectful, and that is the reason you will continue to thrive, even through the pandemic, Thanks Again.

I'm a middle aged white woman who's been shopping at Dave's since it opened and:I have never felt afraid, even going there after dark, even when pregnant.Only one employee has ever been slightly rude to me (once), and that person was reprimanded at once. All the others have been friendly and helpful, including the managers.The bakery employees have been very nice to me, the fresh bread is wonderful.The store has always been at least as clean as other area major grocery stores, i.e. Acme, Giant Eagle, etc.The produce has been as fresh as most other stores, sometimes fresher.They have a selection of Mexican and Central American produce.The hot food counter has great fried chicken and jo-jos. You can call ahead and they will have it ready for you.The fresh fish counter has good fresh fish. It's not a huge selection, but I did get octopus there once.They have a great selection of alternative milks. The only thing I can't find there is almond or soy ice cream. The prices are competitive, some things are priced higher than other stores, some are lower.

Prices are way too high. Daves is from the cleveland area, and cleveland prices are high. So they those high prices to akron. A lot of meats & stuff are very unhealthy, a meat worker at daves even said himself that daves is killing people with that stuff.
