You would think the food at a country club would be top notch but I've had more satisfactory meals at Steak-n-Shake; seriously. I was a bridesmaid for my friends wedding, the second floor had been rented out for their reception...it is a series of rooms connected to a large dance floor in the center. The annoying part about the setup is that each room is closed off so you can't see or hear any announcements. They have large glass french doors that the staff opened but the design itself is not open concept so if you are not sitting at a table directly next to the dance floor, you're left out of the celebration. Our waitress was incredibly rude to the grooms son to the point were everyone at the table was annoyed with her lack of customer service. She had brought out salads to start the meal off, he decided he didn't want a salad & had left his table settings exactly as they were ( I myself did the same exact thing). For some unknown reason, this upset our waitress- she rolled her eyes at him while she yanked the napkin from the table & placed the salad before him making some rude remark about how he must not have any manors because he didn't have his napkin on his lap. Then, because the bride & groom had to greet every table; they missed out on dinner..our table had eaten all the rolls before they even had a chance to sit down so we asked for extras for them. They never arrived. Then when the meal was brought out, we explained to the waitress that the couple had asked us to request that their meals be brought out later because they didn't have a chance to eat...she left them sitting on the table until they were cold...and the food was terrible!!!! No one enjoyed their meal, in fact most of us didn't even finish it. The lemon chicken had absolutely no flavor & was rubbery & dry. One of the other bridesmaids had a vegetarian dish, it was suppost to have noodles with mixed vegetables- guess what, there were no noodles! When the bride & groom finally got to sit down (over 2 hrs later) the waitress brought out their meals...neither ate much of them since they were cold & you can tell they had been left under a heat lamp. Everything was soggy & looked as awful as it tasted. I had asked if there had been last minute changes to the reception because the bride had sent me pics of what meal plan they were choosing in case I couldn't eat it (I can't have onions or garlic, etc) & the pictures looked nothing like the food before us. She then explained that the food they gave us was not what her & the groom had picked out but what can you do after the fact?

Every Christmas Eve, our big family dresses up and packs into Congress Lake to celebrate together. It's the perfect mix of upscale celebration and family-friendly joy. THE FOOD. The lobster crepes will forever change your mouth. The carrot cake will take you to church. Even the butter jiggles with pride. They hire a real live pianist who's super with kids and plays all the old hits that my grandparents adored. Congress Lake knows how to make a quiet special Christmas and I am so grateful for their good work!

Congress Lake is known for its fine food, excellent golf course and great swimming pool. I have been to many functions over the last 3 years and do say that the variety and quality of the food are like dining at any fine dining restaurant. I read a review below regarding a wedding's reception. Menu selection, time provided to serve dinner and actually time of bridal party sitting down, etc. may all be factors. There are 3 large open areas without glass doors and two small dining areas that have glass doors but usually remain open.I have been to many functions, put on by organizations or the Club itself, the food has been consistently top notch, although I will admit none of the functions had lemon chicken.

Great old school Donald Ross golf course. We played here after winning the round in a charity auction. Club treated us first class. Course is tight an demanding. Greens are very tough. Very tough.
