Cocos Locos - Mentor

Leaving an update on our last visit. We tried something new and again- how is this place not packed with people!? AMAZING Husband ordered the Pollo Jinete which was grilled chicken w bacon, chorizo, onions and cheese dip. He was blown away by the amount of food (and bacon) and said it was the best Mexican dish he ever had (and we love Mexican). I ordered the Pollo Michoacán which was chicken with peppers, onions, tomatoes and zucchini w cheese sauce. Was delicious and definitely enough fit lunch tomorrow. Ordered a pitcher of skinny margaritas and will agree it was good - but a bit weak on the alcohol side ‍Don't overlook this place!!

The service was amazing! Very friendly and attentive waiters ready to make your experience wonderful. The food was delicious and authentically Mexican. I had the shrimp cóctel and it was yummy...sweet with a spicy kick that was unique and just right...I ate the entire dish!!! The place itself was very clean and felt like a well established restaurant.

This is our third stop on the Lake County Taco Trail. We haven't been disappointed yet! We were immediately greeted with a friendly server who brought us complimentary chips and salsa. And yes the tomatoes were roasted in the salsa!! That makes it. The Al pastor tacos were spiced to perfection and came with charro beans. Like this on occasion instead of refried beans.

True authentic Mexican Food. (No Taco Bell Here) The staff evens wears traditional Mexican attire...black slacks, dress shirt, burgundy vest.Now the food.... Went June 2023 w/ my husband.I ordered the Ceviche. It was so fresh with the perfect amount of citrus. The limes wedges were so plump as if it were picked off the lime tree in the back and sliced to order. The Avocado was so green and creamy in texture. The Chile Rellenos was roasted ever so perfectly and not overly salted. The Cocos Locos Salad was delicious as well. I'm not a huge drinker, but I was craving a Bloody Mary. So I ordered Virgin. It was the best Bloody Mary I've had. Even better than the ones with spirits. They didn't just pour salty bloody mary mix and serve and serve it up... They actually mixed it and shook it over ice using the plump juices of limes and whatever else secret sauce. I will pay top dollar for fresh quality ingredients any day.Will definitely be returning. Next time with photos.

We really enjoyed Cocos Locos yesterday. Wanted to notch another Lake County Taco Trail restaurant on the sombrero. Surprisingly not busy for a Tuesday. Lots of parking available. The service was friendly and fast. The standard chips and salsa before your meal were very good - my wife said she thinks the salsa here is the best of the places we've tried so far. The restaurant has plenty of seating, and the only thing I would suggest is when there are not many people in the restaurant then don't sit everyone in the same area. I could have asked to move, but it wasn't that big of a deal to us. Great selection of Mexican beers and margaritas. We ordered the "Little Bit of Everything, and it was all delicious. We'll be back after I have hit all the Taco Trail locales.

Meh. Our margaritas were fine. Our meals were barely warm. We did not complain but we should have done so.

My friends and I were looking for authentic Mexican food last night and this place was amazing! Plus there were a couple families having birthday parties there, so there was live music and people dancing which added to the experience. The service was top notch and the food was outstanding. Hidden gem!

Went there for lunch last week, while the food was ok, typical Mexican fare, the prices for drinks were outrageous. We ordered iced tea and they are charging $4.75 for soft drinks! Also ordered hot salsa for the chips and they charged an additional $4.00. None of that is specified on the menu, really felt like a gotcha when the bill came. Sorry, won't be back.

Good food! Big portions! Quick service! The fajitas were excellent! Had enough for 3 meals!

Best Mexican food I have had in a long time. We had the Arroz con Pollo, Shrimp Cocktail, and the "Fresh Guacamole". The chicken in my dish was cooked in an amazing sauce that made it so rich and flavorful! Excellent rice, too. The service was fast and the servers were extremely friendly. If you're looking for authentic Mexican, look no further! We will absolutely be back!
