It's taken me almost my entire 25 years of existence to start to kind of like seafood. I don't know what it is, but I just hated it as a child. Then as a I grew up and my taste buds started to develop I began to appreciate certain seafoods. But alas, my likes are still extremely limited when it comes to our friends from the ocean. Just a side note: I will at least try most things even if I don't think I'll like them. I have an open mind! Anyways, Jason M and I decided that we wanted to cook some dinner at home and he was in the mood for some scallops. I can definitely mow some scallops!! Of course Classic Seafood at West Side Market was the first place we thought of, so we headed over. It was definitely busy and the counter was swamped, but we were noticed right away and helped us soon as possible. I love to cook, but I clearly don't have much experience with preparing fish of any kind. I was hoping for a little more guidance from the people at the counter, but they really had none to give. I understand, they were busy, but it's the little things that bring people back to your stand--especially at the West Side Market.I know I'll be back to Classic Seafood at some point, they've have quality fish and fast service. Maybe I'll just come back on a market day that isn't swarming with a bajillion Clevelanders with the same idea.

Kate's is my normal market go-to place, but I have always had good stuff from here. I've found them to be a particularly good option for Great Lakes species like walleye and perch. Your mileage may vary, but mine's been good here.

Rude, rude, rude. The young girl was rude to the customer in front of me and to me. We both left without buying anything there. I made my purchases elsewhere; I assume the other customer did too.

I had been shopping there regularly for scallops. I recommended them to a family member who purchased ocean perch to make for Father's day. The perch was cut so poorly that it was inedible due to bones. When I attempted to contact them to let them know and see if we could exchange it no one returned my call. When visiting the stand they will remind you several times of how superior their product is to other seafood vendors. Their assurredness of a superior product should then be backed up with superior customer service. I will no longer patronize this stand.
