Chardon Buckeye Chocolate Café

While I'm happy that the Buckeye chocolate in chardon seems to be doing well and has expanded and improved I don't like social justice with my coffee. I went in a week ago to get a special treat for my wife which was a breakfast sandwich and a mocha. I got the same thing. The fellow that took my order was seemingly nice enough. But I couldn't help but notice his "student power" button and Palestinian flag on his shirt. Why would any company allow a customer facing employee to express their personal political beliefs on their clothing while at work? The only thing that this can do is breed divisiveness and contempt which is exactly what it did. But let's get to the food first. I ordered a sausage and egg sandwich on a bagel and it seems that the attention to detail and overall prep has declined. The reason I say this is that they make their eggs ahead of time in a casserole format which ordinarily if prepared correctly tastes pretty darn good. However my sandwich, and my wife's sandwich or actually unheated when it came to the meat and egg portion. Meaning that whatever device they used to warm it up I'm presuming a microwave they did not do it long enough and therefore my breakfast sandwich was cold. Not a huge ordeal I can just take it home and microwave it which is what I did. Naturally it made an underwhelming breakfast experience. The coffee was okay it's a mocha you really can't screw it up too badly. Of course this establishment is a spend the iPad around and it's going to ask you a few questions to solicit a tip. As a rule if I'm standing up while ordering you do not get a tip. Fact that they solicitative just makes me incensed. Then you're soliciting a tip while expressing your political beliefs whatever they are closes the lid of my returning to this place. Ever. I called a friend who I knew was on the way to Buckeye chocolate and said give me a call when you're done and let me know what you think of your experience I'm going to write a Yelp review. You know what he said? Why the hell do they allow their employees to wear that?? I told him my experience we both feel the same way that cold egg sandwiches served with a side of social justice and political opinions do not make for a good breakfast. We will not be returning. I wish them the best of luck in selling their one-sided political beliefs is a good marketing plan for coffee.

I met my aunt for lunch and I got the Blt wrap and the blackberry oat dish. The oats were really good and cold but I wished there was fresh fruit on top too. The blt and dressing was really good!! I got the iced mango pineapple green tea that was super refreshing too.

Visiting from out of town. I found this cafe and I was intrigued. My order consisted of a gingerbread latte and a butternut squash salad. The cafe worker was very courteous when taking my order.I was given a number. My drink and food were delivered to my table. The latte tasted great. The syrup was not overpowering, so there was still a strong coffee flavor. It was very smooth, not bitter or acidic. The butternut said was a pleasant surprise. The ingredients were fresh and the dressing was flavorful.Will revisit this cafe the next time I am in the area.

I actually like my coffee with politics. In fact, how could any independent coffee store not have a political position in the current climate. But that side, no one was wearing any obvious partisan guard when I was there, and the coffee continues to be fabulous, and the chocolate is the best in Cleveland. So frequent this place or their Sister store in Bainbridge, any time!

So much more than chocolate and coffee. Great wraps and sandwiches. Plenty to choose from if you're a vegetarian. Definitely coming back!

Sadly, this establishment didn't measure up to the reviews. The seeds in the Brussel sprout salad were terribly rancid although the chicken salad was good. Won't be going back.

I love their house coffee and their selection of pastries. The chocolates are good too if you can resist ordering one or two for the road. I love to support the local coffeehouse of the town I am working in.

Again at 2:00 the parking was full. I got a coffee and scone at the drive-thru. The window ladies were so nice. Coming here was so convenient in the winter as I was driving through Chardon. The shop doesn't have donuts. It does have dessert treats. On the menu posted on the outside wall were items for breakfast and lunch, bakery items, and lots of hot and cold drinks. The blueberry and lemon scone I purchased was fresh, soft, and the best flavor I've ever had. Delicious! I ordered an Americano coffee, and they made it fresh. Totally five stars.

This is a frequent breakfast stop for a healthy (and delicious) alternative to McDonald's or (the massive money-sucking) Starbucks.We always favor LOCAL businesses!!!Their dark chocolate is the best. Sincerely.

I've gotten OK service and good breakfast in the past but yesterday was horrific. Service was lame, but the tea I got was syrup, no tea. I had them make me a new and different one, which was better but not worth the cost. My friend got an 8 dollar salad that was rancid. We pointed this out to management and eve asked her to try it (I did too - it was bad) and she refused saying "we make it fresh daily". Refused to remake or substitute it and my friend ended up leaving it sitting on the table with 3 bites from it - waste of food and money! Last time I'll ever stop there!!!!!!!!!
