Cassese's MVR

Nice Italian restaurant in downtown Youngstown right next to YSU. A good sized place with a full bar, dining area and a large indoor area with bocce courts. We were seated right away and that was the first sign of the quality of their service. Our server was attentive and friendly the entire meal. The table shared the greens appetizer and we got the hot pepper add-on. The greens were flavorful (lots of garlic) and the pepper was nicely browned and was hot. Really good app. My main course was linguine with clam sauce. Plenty of clams and a good sauce. Most importantly to me, al dente pasta. Great dish. We took a look at the bocce courts. It was a Wednesday night and they were packed. Great to see folks using the courts and having fun. Really good experience and I'll visit again next time in Youngstown.

MVR is an absolute gem for Italian food lovers in Youngstown! I recently grabbed the Tressel tortellini to go, and it was fantastic. The tortellini was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Every bite was a comforting reminder of why MVR is such a beloved spot.Even though it was a to-go order, the food was packaged well and still hot by the time I got home. The staff was friendly and efficient, making the pickup process a breeze.I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu--next time, maybe I'll stay to soak in the restaurant's ambiance. Highly recommend!

I always enjoy dining at the MVR. It's a well known Old-time Italian family restaurant that goes back three generations. Charming place that also has a huge indoor bocce court attached. On this visit, I chose to have the Veal Parmesan, with a side of penne. It also came with a nice salad and fresh bread. I love their pasta sauce. It tastes like it has been simmering for hours, just like Mom used to make. They have a full bar here, and can make any drink you like.

I was so excited for MVR after not having it for years. It was just okay and not nearly as good as it used to be. Entrees served with a salad which consists of bagged lettuce and a few baby tomatoes

First time here somehow after all these years and boy was it worth the wait! Fantastic from start to finish with a nice sized salad, delicious greens and then a fabulous fish dinner. Now that I've been here I can't wait to come back to this Youngstown legend!

Food was freakin amazing! Some of the best Italian I've ever had. Service was also great, all staff were nice and helpful! Our server Nicole was attentive and funny (she was able to remember all of our orders despite all of our special request). Boche courts were a cool add on, and ambiance made it feel authentic in the restaurant.

To be honest, I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt. Came here from out of town, here for a comedy show at the arena. Got there 2 1/2 hours before the s. Packed. Took 60 minutes to get seats-at the bar. Took another 45 minutes for ordering and service and had to shovel our food down. I'm sure this place would be awesome on a different night. They worked hard and did the best they could. Hope to make it back.

The Papa Joes Pasta dinner was fabulous. The sausage was spot on, not too spicy and full of flavor. Service was fast and extremely friendly. The atmosphere was was okay I only wish we could have sat on the patio but weather prevented that.

Hailey & Kaylei are the perfect dynamic duo. When in doubt seek them out. They will make you dining experience one to remember for the better. They are so personable. They made us feel that we were at our dining room table. They are VERY high spirited and earthy. When in the area come see them, they will make your day, unless your a snob. I put that s*** on everything!!!

Excellent food and the service was outstanding. Went before an event downtown, while the place was crowded, it didn't take long to receive our meals. Everything was very good.
