We were looking to try a local restaurant, as part of our trip to Sandusky. We had seen the sign "best margaritas" in town, so we decided to give Casa Real a try for dinner. We ordered two Mole Poblano entrees and a chicken quesadilla off the children's menu, with a 20 oz margarita. The frozen lime margarita was awesome. The mole poblano was also flavorful. We were impressed with the amount of chicken in the quesadilla and that it was good quality for a kids meal. We also had the fried ice cream for dessert. Everything was great! We found the prices to be very reasonable as well. We would definitely recommend it to other families and would come back again.

Casa Real is a typical Tex-Mex place that caters to the tourist / locals crowd. It's cramped but cozy enough with lots of eye challenging colors. The service was fast and friendly but didn't include a check back until I was done eating. So why only 3 stars? Now, 2 soft chicken tacos for $4.99 seemed like a decent deal until I got them. For some reason, they were both made totally different. Now, the chicken on both were really juicy and tender, but one had a little lettuce, a small piece of cactus, and a tablespoon's worth of cheese. The other had hardly any lettuce, lots of crumbled white cheese, and nothing else. There was no onion or cilantro. Yup, not Mexican at all. I got Taco Bell'd and they got 3 stars.

So I'm entirely conflicted about a rating for this establishment. We initially came here 10 years ago with only two children and I left a review through tripadvisor. I rated them very high due to their prices and vegetarian options. However, I was not as fortunate this time. Perhaps it was only because of our waiter, but this experience stunk.I came with my husband and four children with high hopes. It already started off rough when we were seated and our waiter did not bring us chips and salsa even after we ordered a half pitcher of margaritas as well as waters for the children. When I asked him for some, he asked us if we needed "more"? What? I told him we didn't receive any to begin with. Upon ordering, I inquired if the rice and beans were vegetarian or were they made with chicken stock and lard. He responded they were not vegetarian. Interesting considering they have a separate vegetarian section. I asked a different associate the same question and she promptly went into the kitchen in order to inquire. She informed me the rice was not, but the beans were. Why couldn't our own server do this?I then ordered a wet vegetarian burrito for myself as well as a cheese enchilada kids meal for my son. Both arrived with meat. Wtf. The other members of my family ordered shrimp tacos, shrimp burritos, steak street tacos, and a cheese quesadilla kids meal. Their meals were all perfect and they had no complaints. My correctly made meal was pretty small, actually. Not worth $12, for sure. And I did not trust the beans as a veg head as I tasted an off taste. We then ordered two fried ice cream dishes which were adaquate. The worst part being when I received the check. There were two $1 discrepancies from the stated menu, which were corrected once I had to point them out.Based on this recent experience I'm unsure if I would return. Fond memories, but I personally had a poor experience.

Plenty of menu suggestions to suit just about everyone. Not a large restaurant, but we had no trouble getting a table and parking at 5 PM on a Friday. Food and service were both good enough to return again.

In town for a soccer tournament and looked this place up! It did not disappoint. Super authentic Mexican food. Delicious. My shrimp tacos were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Staff was friendly and quick. Cute little place. Will be back!

Stopped on our way to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk for the annual Night Under Fire event. Service was decent and so was the food. Portions were fair for the price.

Use Yelp app to get here and it was worth it. Lightning speed service and all food was hot and fresh. Still not on my top five (5) true Mexican restaurants but falls on my personal top 10 list.Would definitely recommended and come back again. The chips and salsa, though not spicy at all, was pretty decent. Loved my tacos in corn tortillas.Ratio of price to portions is low which always is a good factor. The average rating out of a group of 5 was 4 .

Can I give MORE than five stars?? Several of us were in town for a convention back in May. We had been in town all week and were worn out by the expensive prices and not-so-good food at the convention center. So we elected to venture out of the resort for some Mexican food. AM I GLAD WE DID!!The reviews looked solid, so we landed on Casa Real. It was small and busy - oh, and COLD outside. We walked in, and the front area was packed. We put our name down, and they said 45 minute wait and asked if we could wait in our car or outside. Like fools, we waited outside. In t-shirts. In May. With a 48° temp and decent winds. After about 20 minutes, I walked back inside to see if we were moving up the list. This happened several times before the wait staff said, "You've been incredibly patient. I'll get you in next." That was a surprise, but she could see that were cold. : o)Now we could've gone anywhere else - Mexican food or not - but we were hell bent on Mexican food at this location. We could not understand why it was so busy. Many folks came in, saw the wait time, and left. Then it occurred to me when I looked at the shirts of the staff - we were there on Cinco de Mayo! What fools! Of all days to visit the small, quaint location was the one day you probably DIDN'T want to go due to how busy they were. But then we got in and got seated...Explosions of atmosphere, pure comedic behavior by our server (shorter male who was from out of state), and the food! Man, as good as our food was - dare I say the best Mexican food I've ever eaten?? - the server just sent it overt the top. He was so, so good. Timing was impeccable, attitude couldn't have been better, and he was b-u-s-y with multiple tables. My go-to is always ground beef enchiladas and tacos, but this day I got street tacos with shrimp. The others got a multitude of options as well. Everything we had, we were incredibly happy with the results. We all kept just saying, "MAN, that was great!"I would love, LOVE to have this in my hometown (many states away). But if I did, I would surely weigh in north of 300 pounds. Highly recommended, very authenticate, and quite possibly the best place to eat in Sandusky!

Most of the servers were good. Ours seemed bothered to be there. Food was ok. I go the shrimp fajitas w extra veggies - I think they charged me $2 for the extras which was fine but I think that included the extra oil - way too much oil. Shrimp was pretty fishy tasting/smelling.

Food was great, but the service we had was terrible. The waiter we had looked like he had a bad day. He sat us took our order, once some girl brought our food. The guy NOT once came back to see how was the food or if we need anything. He came back once we finished with the bill, didn't even say how was it or if we want dessert etc, just had a rude vibe about him.
