"Best West side diner. The place actually is an old style diner complete with round stools at the counter and lots of 50's memorabilia decorating the walls. Checkered linoleum floors! Specials each day. Breakfast to burgers it's all delicious. I had the corned beef quesadilla. Tender juicy corned beef and sauerkraut with Swiss cheese and egg sandwiched between a grilled tortilla. Yum. Served with Chipotle Mayo or Thousand Island. Fountain drinks. The real standout here is the fantastic service. Not stressed just really friendly, efficient and attentive. We stayed a bit when we were done eating and chatted with the servers. Truly nice folks. Plenty of parking. Loved all the art of old time stars. Good prices. We will be back."

I LOVE this late night spot, it's a lifesaver and I hope the rest of Cleveland follows suit and starts changing their business hours to 24/7. My Friends has excellent sandwiches and burgers. I even went for breakfast on back to back days and everything was amazing. The restaurant is calm, not too crazy. There's a bakery and deli, everything looked tasty and moist. I love the East Coast vibes here, the building is cool, right out of a movie where the main characters hang out lol. Liked the holiday inspired beverage menu. A little pricey but cute drinks. I got the Frosty's Toddy, which was pretty good. Ordered the pot stickers and a side salad with homemade vinaigrette. Very good. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich which was really messy, but he said it was good too. We snapped some holiday pics together and even saw Santa in the entryway. Highly suggest a stop to get in the Christmas spirit."

They now change an extra $1 if you use credit card. There's also now a check out fee ($1.11 on $23 tab). I asked lady at register about it & was told they got a new computer system. She thanked me for not yelling at her about it. In my opinion this is capital improvement. I don't have the option of not checking out to avoid the fee. What's this world coming to? What's next, a new chair fee when new booths are purchased (which this establishment needs)? How about a cooking fee when a new stove is purchased to cook the food? I'm officially a crotchety old woman now."

Or 2) which is the rare, friendly, and attentive staff who is hustling to get food out hot and timely while still maintaining cleanliness. JT's fits the latter role. And delicious food!This is the first diner where the chicken was crispy without being dry, and the coleslaw wasn't some premade sloppy-as-hell-shit with no flavor. My wife's hash browns were cooked perfectly, as crispy as they should be.I would highly recommend this placeto anyone. Heads up about the owner, Teena...She is loud, and talks to customers in a way that some reviewers have complained is aggressive, inappropriate, and rude.Anyone who doesn't have a stick up their ass will see that this is just her playing around and standing up to make herself her brand. That's called marketing folks. Making yourself known through customers discussing you establishes your brand and draws business. So, get your panties out of a bunch and enjoy the place!!"

I stopped in just after 0700 on a cold Sunday morning and was immediately greeted by a lovely young lady named Benita who smiled and told me to sit wherever I liked. I chose a booth facing the entrance.The classic retro interior takes you back in time, with drop tin ceiling tiles and a four-stool counter - it captures the essence of a bygone era. The menus are already placed on the table and offer a plethora of appetizing dishes from eggs to omlettes and pancakes to waffles. I got coffee and the #8 without meat: two eggs and a chocolate chip pancake. I'm usually fairly critical with respect to coffee because and normally never order it from a restaurant; however, the brew here was quite good! After roughly 10 minutes my breakfast arrived. The pancake was sizable and satisfyingly delcious treat loaded with chocolate morsels! The eggs were cooked perfect and seasoned just right. At Big Al's, you get quality and generous portions wrapped in a layer of great service. What more could you ask for?"

The owner even remembered me after all these years. If it's not broken don't fix it. I brought 2 friends with me for their first visit recently. It was a Sunday and it was packed with the after church crowd, but we were seated promptly. We ordered the patty melt, blue chicken sandwich and bacon, egg & cheese croissant. Everything arrived fresh, hot and timely despite it being so busy.If you're in the Aurora area, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. I've never had a problem in 10 years of going there! I can't wrap my head around WHY so many people bad mouth this place. It's a family-owned deli. It's not snooty or pretentious. It's good, honest homestyle food. They serve breakfast all day. And I believe they still have the best ayce fish fry Friday during lent in northeast Ohio!With that said, if you want a gourmet 5 star experience, keep on trucking a little further down Rt. 43 and don't choke on your silver spoon. I've never had anything that wasn't delish. GL has been under new ownership for about 3 years, and the menu has changed a little, and the prices (like the prices everywhere else) have gone up. But what hasn't changed is the quality of the food. Also, even though the prices are higher, the value relative to other restaurants, hasn't changed...not one iota.The service is always fast and, for me, has always been friendly.The atmosphere? Well, let's just say it fits nicely into the South Side.GL is closed on Sunday and Monday, but they now open until 8pm on the other days. This is a good thing. We got off the freeway and after and after about a miles drive, we came upon this little gem. It's very old fashioned and everyone was extremely friendly. It very much took us back to the way things were back in the day! I thoroughly enjoyed their Mexican skillet that had all of the good flavorings. It needed a bit of hot sauce though but that's because I like things very spicy. My boyfriend had their breakfast of champions and as you can see from the picture, he got everything he wanted. Everything tasted really good and the service was great. Definitely five stars and definitely glad to support a local, non-chain business for the first time in a while!"

Food was excellent and it's a cute atmosphere in a nice part of town, but I'd be hesitant to go here over several other great, local brunch places given the service.
