Amazing location, bustling crowd schooled with a great menu...the Boiler Room has what it takes to help Lorain get back on track. As you can see, no photos of our food, it was just that good that I didn't have time to take pics. The craft beers are great, and the wait staff know what sells. We started with the pretzel and hummus, so good you could make a meal out of it. My husband ordered a burger, I mean get the basics, it's what makes a great restaurant. We look forward to coming back when it gets warmer to take advantage of the views.

Not bad. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was barely anyone dining -- 2 tables besides ours. I orders the fish sandwich -- it was okay. I didn't quite like the bread, it was too chewy (like mochi) for me. The fish was fried well, but I do wish it was more seasoned. It came with fries and I did enjoy those - crispy and hot. Someone from my party order their tacos (not on the menu), and said it was quite delicious. I wasn't asked if I wanted to sit indoors or out, though, I wish I was asked because after we were done eating we then explored the rest of the place. Overall it's solid, and if you're hungry it's a place to consider.

They give the table seasoned chips when you sit down. We ordered pretzel sticks appetizer. They were very salty but delicious!I ordered the special burger - it was a southwest burger. Mine was without guacamole. It was done just the way I ordered. The tots were crispy and yummy My husband ordered the jabacon me happy burger and the shipyard special beer - which was a peanut butter stout. He said the beer was good and very unique. The burger was also done perfectly - which is not common for him since he orders medium rare Our granddaughter had grilled pb&j!! It was tasty!!Our server was new, but nice and he was helpful. There is a little water to look at but if you are expecting or wanting "lakefront" - this isn't it.

I loved this place!!!! Why didn't I know this was here for the past 5 years I have been living here Due to COVID, we are only eating at places that have outdoor and very safe table seating This place fits the bill. We checked inside at the hostess desk and picked a table outside They had one of those little menu things where you put your smart phone camera up to it and then see the menu on your phone Love that for safety reasons The menu is very diverse and I had a hard time deciding Our server was phenomenal She helped us make choices and was on top of giving us more iced tea without asking she really added to our already good experience In the end, I ordered the club sandwich, but it's not your typical club It was served on Texas toast, so therefore not a triple decker Perfect! I think it was blackened turkey, capicola, bacon, lettuce, tomato and the citrus mayo was spicy and so delicious Served with tater tots and a pickle made it an extremely filling meal We will be back for sure

Back in town and had dinner here with friends. The service was excellent (Matt). I had the French Onion soup and loved it. I ordered the Wreck Burger with tots. Although not the best burger I ever had, it was decent.

Another gem in Lorain! For a new restaurant with staff learning the ropes, we had a great meal and experience tonight! We were given complimentary house chips upon receiving our beverages. They were tasty with good seasoning. My fiancé tried the black cherry sugar cane soda, which was cut with creme soda, per our servers suggestion. It was sweet and refreshing. We ordered the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer- spicy, lightly battered and nicely cooked. For our meals, I had asked our server if a few menu items had dairy, as I have an allergy. He assisted me by making some suggestions. I ended up ordering the couscous salad minus feta cheese. The salad was light and refreshing, with a yummy vinaigrette, fried chickpeas, tomatoes, onions kalamata olives and Israeli couscous. My fiancé had the walleye sandwich. Both meals were really good and the restaurant exceeded our expectations! Some side notes: 1.) there are two bars, inside dining and a patio, 2.) they followed guidelines to keep tables spaced, 3.) all staff wore face masks, 4.) they have plenty of local beer and wine options along with their own beer on tap, 5.) the restaurant was clean and incorporated what seemed to be some of original architecture and 6.) restrooms were clean and nicely done. It is so great to experience some great restaurants in Lorain again! If the service and food stay consistently good, I have no doubt this place will be a desired seat for dinner, drinks and sunset every night! We will be back again.

I will always root for Lorain. While I didn't grow up here, I've always thought there was so much potential to make this a premier lakeside entertainment destination. The downtown area has long lacked a quality dining experience to draw people to the lakeshore. The Boiler Room looks every bit the part of the kind of place to bring a younger crowd into Lorain. The aesthetic definitely captures the industrial roots of the city built on steel and lake water. Our server, Holly, was very attentive and exceptionally apologetic in breaking the bad news of their empty Oktoberfest keg. We substituted said Oktoberfests for the Shipyards own Strawberry Wheat, which would be exceptionally refreshing on a summer patio, and the local Bascule Brewery Sweet Potato seasonal. I love local restaurants supporting another local brewery. I also tried the Shipyards Pilsner, which packed a little more flavor than a standard Pilsner with floral notes. The food was good, not great. The Walleye filet was exceptional in size, but mediocre in flavor. While the fish itself was well cooked and perfectly moist, the batter lacked flavor of any sort. I will say that I've likely had better tater tots in my life, but I can't remember when. The Chicken BLT was highlighted by its pretzel. The chicken itself, like the walleye, was perfectly cooked though lacked seasoning. You should judge a restaurant's bathroom quality in near the same regard as its food quality. A clean and well decorated bathroom indicates attention to detail, which is obviously vital to the success of any business. The Boiler Room checks this box with authority. The restroom is decorated just as tastefully as the dining space, and I appreciate that more than they know.I'll definitely be back, though I'll be exploring the menu more.

A lot of potential here. We came during Lent for a fish fry to-go but I realize this may not be their strong suit. The fish fry was a very small portion compared to other local counterparts. The fries were deeply over-salted and seasoned in an overwhelming way. For the high price points, we were a bit shocked at the quality of the food.Like I said, I think the strong suit here is probably the outdoor seating at their super cool location of The Shipyards. They carry a big menu of draft beers, burgers and other American fare. The inside has a cool atmosphere. We definitely didn't get the full experience that would probably allow them to shine brighter. We both agreed we are definitely looking forward to coming back again soon after the pandemic when we can grab a beer, sit outside and enjoy this biz a bit more!

I met friends here for drinks and appetizers and was pleased by the experience. The appetizers were solid and the draft beer list had some nice offerings. Service was enthusiastic and prompt. My first visit here was on a frigid March day, but I'd love to come back in nicer weather to better appreciate the lovely setting.
