One of my fav places to see plays. It's a community theater and prices are affordable for everyone. This time I saw the play "Shrek. The musical"- the play was great! I loved the costumes, script, actors! The play was designed for kids but I enjoyed as well. We went to the theater as group and played just 10$ each! Great deal!If you wonder how to spend your weekend, check this place and their events. Also, they sell local artists work and provide acting classes for kids.

This guy is a HUGE fan of the arts. Especially the local arts. From theatre to artwork....I love it all. The Beck is a place to find all of the above and has been around since I was a kid!I am in love with the performances this venue offers. From the traveling adult performances to the youth theatre. Really, they know how to put on a good show. My family and I come to several per year and each visit offers its own unique group of performers. On top of that, you get to see some awesome student and adult artwork on the walls. They change it often and there is always something new to see!The pros? - Great location in historic Lakewood- Local artists and performers- Youth and adult classes in theatre and art- Friendly staff- Gorgeous artwork that is available for purchaseThe cons?- Mackey Theatre seating is extremely uncomfortable and needs updated- Parking is a pain in the rear end- Temperature control is nearly nonexistent in this facility - Concessions offer nothing gluten-free friendly nor healthyOverall, I love this facility. They operate on a limited budget and some of my cons are justified. Definitely a hidden gem in the Cleveland area!

Wonderful place that provides an outlet for our languished arts programs.Local artists are able to teach upcoming youth - adults skills that have been honed from life experiences. There is naturally a need for more of this sort of educational facilities that are run outside of the normal collegiate atmospheres. Keep it up Beck Center and keep growing!

The Beck Center is a great venue to see local theater performances. I do not think there is a bad seat in the house! Be sure to check out their website and Facebook for deals and updates. I was lucky to attend the preview night of Billy Elliott for only $10. What a deal since regular performance tickets are $31!If you are looking to see a great performance and support local theater, be sure to check out the Beck Center.p.s. Billy Elliott is excellent! Unbelievably talented group of performers.

I think I am fortunate in the fact that the first time I have been here was to see Evil Dead: The Musical. It was amazing!! They served beer, which the company I was with from Columbus was happy about, and they even had a Splash Zone for the front rows since there was blood being spattered about. Great show, intimate setting, all around good time. I loved that the theater wasn't too big and I could clearly see what was happening. I am excited once my daughter is old enough hopefully she will want to act in some of the children's theater productions.Do yourself a favor and access Lakewood's amazing theater. Find a show you like at the Beck and check it out. You won't be sorry!

Saw my first musical at this location last night. (Heathers: The Musical). I enjoyed very much the talented cast of this production but the sound was ridiculously loud where we were sitting. (When you walk in we were on the right side, 2nd row from the top, furthest from the entrance.) At times I could barely hear or understand the lead actor while she sang. Eventually I had to sit and plug my right ear (speaker side) because I was getting an ear ache. Also, I realize there will always be a seat in the house where not every scene can be watched fully, but there were MANY scenes that I, as well as the stranger sitting next to me on the end, could not view because a wall was blocking the stage. Of course, next time I could get there earlier and have my choice of seats, but eventually someone will be stuck with a blocked view.

March 23, 2024we were excited to take our granddaughter to the play Mean Girls. we have watched the movie and thought the play would be fun to see. Trust me, within the first 5 minutes I started to cringe! The opening scene showed a portrait that was a body part and absolutely inappropriate! an hour in and I could not take the vulgarity any longer and had to leave when the lines in a song were about cancer being sexy and then the actor's line was..."was that inappropriate!" 'Yes! So much more , but trust me don't take your daughters to see it. when I left, I told the attendant that I wished I had known it was inappropriate for a young girl. She said the summary said 15 and up. No where did it say that!! I'm really disappointed in the advertisement if this play.

Over the Christmas holidays I took my three grandchildren ages 9, 7 and 5 to see Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Coat. They loved it. They asked their mom to download the entire album. As we traveled around the city for days afterward, we all sang the songs together. They had seen Matilda in London this summer. This even topped that experience.

I'm not sure if people realize how lucky we are to have a place like The Beck Center here in Cleveland. Where else can you go for art, music, acting, dance AND therapeutic services in one location? We cannot say enough about the dance classes: instructors are on point, kind, professional, talented, welcoming. Art classes have also been a lot of fun, too. We also take advantage of the art therapy offered and have pleased with this, too.Get yourself or your kids to The Beck today!
