A Hidden Gem in Ashtabula! If you're in Ashtabula, this restaurant is a must-visit for food lovers! The place is on the smaller side, so I highly recommend making a reservation, especially for weekend dining. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! As seafood enthusiasts, we kicked off our meal with a dozen oysters, which were decent, though I would have appreciated some horseradish on the side. The mussels, however, were absolutely superb! For my main course, I tried the special of the night: Crispy Skin Red Snapper. It was incredibly delicious! The filet mignon was also impressive. Our server was not only helpful but also very knowledgeable about wines. We opted for a bottle of both red and white from France to complement our meal, and their selection was quite impressive. Service was prompt and attentive, making this spot a must-try when you're in Ashtabula. Cheers to a happy tummy!

We love visiting Bascule for intimate dinners and special occasions! We always make a reservation. The atmosphere is warm and lively - laughter and conversation fill the air. The service is always very welcoming and thorough in making sure everyone at the table understands the various courses and specials.I'm always excited when the server is excited by my choice! I picked out someone's choice of wine it seems - and with good reason! The Sauvignon blanc was crisp and delicious. I tried the tomato artichoke tart first and the Gruyère cheese made that dish so creamy and satisfying! We tried the roasted turmeric cauliflower which was roasted just right. I loved the seasonality of all the menu items and love that they rotate it all regularly. If you're visiting Ashtabula for the day or longer, Bascule should definitely be in your dinner plans! Thank you for always hosting our large parties so patient and kindly!

I brought my friend Brady to have a great steak dinner, and we both had the Delmonico. This steak was perfect, it cut like butter, and was the most mouth watering marbled delicacy I've had in such a long time. BUT- this is Bascule Bridge, my favorite in all of Ashtabula. It's to die for from Drinks to Apps to Dinner to Dessert! Not one part is anything less than stellar! It's atmosphere is elegant, but not in an off putting way- a warm and welcoming vibe is from everyone who greets you. Now, you all know I'm a wine girl... this wine list is an amazing curation, features local wines as well as special selections from California to International treasures! I had a killer Grenache one visit, then a soft Bordeaux, but a go to is local fave Markko Chardonnay! If you get stuck (because there is SO many delicious choices on both wine list to food) your server will recommend a winner. One of these days I'm going to go in and say "surprise me"- for the entire meal! This will be the best meal of your life! Now GO and get that reservation!!! The best of Ashtabula, and... quite possibly, best in Ohio.

Visited with wife and a dear friend, arriving around 5pm. We were quickly seated and cheerfully served. Very fair priced drinks. Did try the special watermelon salad which was amazing. Our server answered all of our questions about the food . Steaks were done as ordered. Accompaniments, especially the brussel sprouts, were outstanding. Overall I would highly recommend and will return.

Back again for our anniversary dinner. We started with the arrancini. Crisp and stuffed with peas and a bit of short rib, it was a great start. Next was the pea shoot salad with radishes and toasted almonds and a roasted strawberry vinaigrette. What a great summer salad! For our main course we each had one of the fish specials. I had the swordfish while my wife had the Halibut. Both came with your choice of side dishes. Both were cooked perfectly with a lemon burre blanc sauce. We paired this with a nice Spanish wine. Thanks Maya for the wonderful service. Also it was nice to see Brianna!

How is it conceivable that a waiter would ask "would you like me to fix that," when you inform her that your answer to "how would you like that cooked" was "medium" but it comes out RAW?YES... DUH... If you're going to ask "How would you liked that cooked," please don't be surprised when I answer: "Why do you ask?"

My wife and I are members of our local fine dining club and bascules is probably our favorite restaurant on the card. We usually use both of our punches plus visit a 3rd or 4th time. We are never disappointed. This trip we tried something completely different and went the seafood route. I tried the cod special which was accompanied by an awesome Wasabi sauce. My wife tried the scallops. We never eat seafood outside of new England and this was really fantastic. We started our meal with the curry roasted cauliflower and pork belly tacos. Both had a perfect amount of heat and were also very good!As always we will be back!!

I had the Skirt Steak special and enjoyed it. Others at the table enjoyed their meals and enjoyed the evening also. The service was excellent, and the staff were happy and friendly! The restaurant was nicely appointed and comfortable. Most of the wine list was local, but they needed some Nappa wines. All in all, it was worth the drive of 35 miles from Erie to Ashtabula Harbor!
