There are a few food staples that one must have when traveling to Cleveland. In no particular order corned beef, wings and fries with sauce and polish boys, which are mainly fried polish sausages slathered in bbq sauce and topped with french fries and cole slaw. A messy but satisfying food combination that us Clevelanders love! The debate on who makes the best one rivals that of who makes the best cheesesteaks in Philly (Max's or Tony Luke's in my opinion but we will save that debate for a later post)..My hands down go to restaurant polish boys and wings is made at @beckhamsbandmbarbq restaurant. They have expanded over the years but nothing beat the Hayden location that always made me feel like family when I walked it. Now close your eyes and point and there are locations everywhere..Now let's get into the deets of this deliciousness. Be prepared with tons of wet naps or napkins because if done right the food to sauce ratio should be in favor of sauce! The polish boy or polish girl (usually topped with shoulder meat) is a party in your mouth. Imagine chomping down into cool cole slaw, hot crisp fries (right before the sogginess sets in from the bbq sauce), and sinking your teeth into the grand finale of a beef sausage meant to be devoured. What more could you ask for?..Who would think of wings as a side? Of course, it's a main dish but I always order a few wings with sauce and fries with sauce to accompany my polish boy. Perfectly battered whole wings that when fresh out the grease is covered in bbq sauce! Yep it's a thing I'm I'm thankful every time I get to sink my teeth into one..Don't sleep on the food scene in Cleveland. The local favorites are a must. Don't be shy try all the major bbq spots I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

The only thing I ever order from bbq places are wings. They were ok but they're was took much sauce. I do like how they give you an extra wing if they know they're really small so you don't feel cheated.

I went to B&M on E. 105th a few days ago and ordered 2 rib dinners (center & long) at $13.00 & $12.00 respectively. I actually wanted 2 center dinners but for whatever reason they never allow you to purchase 2. (That's an entire different story for some other time). Upon arriving home, I found that I had received 1 rib dinner (long) and a wing snack pack (3 wings & fries - not sure what the price is for a snack back, but I'm sure it was not $13.00). I immediately goggled them to obtain a telephone number to call them to inform them of the mistake. Not surprisingly, the telephone number that is listed is out of service. I took a picture of the wing snack pack and the next day and stopped in to let them know about the error with my order. The person who waited on me fortunately was there and I explained the issue. He asked me if I had the snack pack with me (Wait, what??). Of course I did not, but I did show him the picture and he seemed to realize that he had made a mistake. He didn't really address the issue and told me to "hold on". After waiting approximately 15 minutes, a lady came to the window and asked the other employee, "who am I talking to"? I assumed she was referring to me and I began to explain what happened. She then asked me if I had the snack pack with me, (again, What??) Suddenly I was struck with a memory, I had encountered this same lady when B&M had a location on E. 140th, it should have occurred to me, this encounter was not going to go well! It simply did not occur to me to bring the meal back in addition to that, when I left home that morning (running late) I didn't even think about it. Oh, I left out the fact that I go to B&M at least once a week and many of the workers there know me. But I digress, after speaking with this woman for 5 minutes, I decided I was not going to continue the back and forth with her. She was the rudest person I have ever met. I didn't expect any professionalism but at least value me as a REGULAR customer and be willing resolve the issue. I don't know what I was thinking. As much as I hate to say it, when patronizing stores, restaurants, etc. in certain parts of the city, encountering someone being professional is not something a customer should ever expect. It's said but true! I remembered to bring the snack pack to work today and will return to B&M later this afternoon. It's going to be interesting to see how this will end. I learned a very valuable lesson, ALWAYS CHECK MY ORDER BEFORE LEAVING! (Sorry all, I needed to vent)!
