I love the retro vibe of this restaurant! It is very cozy and yet sophisticated- chandeliers and lots of wood... It all works! When we entered we were told that there were no tables without reservations (day after Valentine's Day and in the midst of a snow advisory day), but we were kindly given a table but told not to stay too long. Our server was very nice but I was told from the start to scooch my seat in so that our server could serve the table behind us. No problem, except that the tables were so close together that I was bumped several times when someone from the other table needed to get up and also when they left. It was rather annoying. As far as our food, a member of our party ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer. They were okay but not amazing. Our salads were fine but again not amazing. Our entrees were delicious. I ordered shrimp, scallops and shiitake mushrooms over fettuccine. The seafood was delicious and I enjoyed the sauce, which was a marinara with a kick. However, the pasta was not plentiful and also not as well cooked as I would have preferred. I also wish I had asked for fresh grated cheese; it wasn't offered and I didn't think to ask at the beginning. Still, it was a delicious dish. My friends also enjoyed their entrees. I've posted pictures below. Overall, I recommend this restaurant and also recommend having reservations. The pianist, Sy Winnie, was fabulous!

We were there for an annual family type banquet so we were seated in the back at the larger tables. A little tight but ok. Being a banquet meal our entree choices were limited but what I didn't like was the steaks were all cooked medium. No options there. The steak was good but not as good as I was hoping for. The sides were ok. Service was good. Ambiance was ok, maybe better in the main dining room. Overall good, not great.

We won't be back.Memorable? Sure! It's an institution for a reason! But the atmosphere is getting a little rough around the edges and what might have felt timeless a decade or two ago, now feels extremely dated. Due to its location, it's likely "THE" nice restaurant for those in Erie and surrounding areas, but honestly a 5-10 minute drive into Toledo will find numerous great options, so it's particularly amazing to pop into Angelo's on a Saturday night and find it completely packed.Amazing because given our recent experience, they get almost *everything* wrong, and make no apologies along the way. Arriving at 5:50 for a 6 pm reservation, we were shocked by the amount of people crammed into the waiting area, and also surprised to learn we'd have quite a wait... wondering why a 6 pm reservation was even allowed to be made. And when we finally sat at 6:45, no apologies were made, and we were then immediately rushed to order. Not even having the menus in our hands for a minute, our waitress was visibly annoyed we wanted some time to consider our options. And while options were considered, in hindsight I do wonder why 1/2 of the menu is even offered. From the cold and completely flavorless French onion soup, which needed salt... a first for me, to the "brown" butter with the asparagus that was burnt with the butter solids blackened and separated, and my prime rib which was so poorly cooked and rendered, I was only able to take a couple of bites after giving up trying to cut it with the dull steak knife provided... none of the food was good. Feeling rushed by our waitress, we passed on dessert and were still a little sticker shocked with how low of quality our food was for the $120 price tag. It's not that we mind paying for a good experience so much as this was, categorically, not a good experience, every step of the way.The atmosphere, food, and service are all bad.We won't be back.

I've been here many, many times over the years and never got around to writing a review. I've thought about it, but just never did. Some of my past thoughts were, "this is a terrible place" along with, "that was one of the best steaks I've ever had" to, "nothing to write home about..." There are some issues with consistency.Well, my oldest niece wanted to go here for her birthday. It was 7:00 on a Sunday, so it wasn't crowded, and that horrible hostess wasn't on duty (seriously, she drives more people away that she brings back, I swear). One of the best things this place could do is send that hostess to charm school or change her job to dishwasher. She really shouldn't be on the floor. The gal working the door this evening was much more pleasant, gracious, appreciative, happy, etc. Anyway, we arrived and were quickly shown to our table.Once we were seated, our waitress came by and took drink orders. This place has been in business for a looooooong time and one thing they can do is mix drinks. I ordered a Manhattan with no trepidation whatsoever. It was a great drink! Perfect ratio of whiskey, vermouth and bitters, mixed in the glass (not shaken!) and garnished, as requested with a lemon twist. HAPPY!My entree was their wonderful ribeye steak. This time, it was cooked perfectly, with a nice drizzle of that buttery zip sauce with sauteed mushrooms. Absolute perfection. The salad that came before was fresh, well tossed, perfectly dried and it had red onion! Nobody puts onion on their salads anymore and I really miss that. I believe all of the dressings are homemade too and are really good. Our waitress was great, very attentive and congenial. Our water glasses never went dry, the dirty plates were promptly removed from the table and things just went very well. So, this place is old. I can't recall it ever being remodeled. It's not chic or trendy, and that's part of the charm. It's an old-fashioned steak house with a definite slant towards the Italian side. When they get it right, it's a great place. If you arrive and the "rude" hostess is at her post (you'll know right away), just try to not let her get to you. If you're lucky, you'll only have to deal with her for a short time. You'll get to your table and have a well-made cocktail soon enough. Just enjoy that, place your order and relax. You made it across the front line.

My mother and I went here when I was in town visiting her. Almost every seat was filled, so I was hoping for good service and great food. We both had a filet mignon and they were both wonderful. Cooked to perfection. I'm from California so the prices, to me, were amazing! I'll surely go back when I'm in town.

Consider a weekly plan to eat here. After years of enjoying my regular filet and bourbon, I am sharing my favorite eating secret with the world. Quality of meat is significantly above average, cooked to temperature and topped with amazing sauce, delivered by the best professional team of service professionals in the county. While the steaks are the headliner, the local fish, Italian offerings, and hand crafted desserts must also be consumed Two bars for a refreshing beverage while waiting for a table. Reservations recommended on weekends

So the ambiance is pretty interesting, the decor defies explanation lol. It's like Liberace designed the place in 1970 and they haven't changed a thing since...loved it. The service was...ok. For example the pop was completely flat, and when told they need to change the carbonation age says "yea all of the pop is flat, we aren't sure why...". Seems like something you should mention when someone orders it. The food: I got perch, which was good. I was told the chicken parm was good. The "loaded" baked potato was a little cheese and sour cream, and was fine...neither good or bad. The bread was very good. The French onion soup was very bland....canned Campbells soup has more flavor. It was like brown water with a few onions and crotons in it.

We had dinner with friends on their recommendation. The restaurant is stunning and transports you back in time. The food was good, I had their special, swordfish, and a lemon drop martini (mostly vodka). Service was a little slow, but they were very busy for a Sunday per the server, and thankfully they have a pitcher of water at the table so we didn't have to wait for refills. I would visit again.

Customer service was really bad. No greeting when we came in. The " Hostess" never said hi or anything to us. She just started barking out orders on where to put us. The food was cold. The beer was skunked. Whe we left the 2 girls at the front desk never acknowledged us. Both had their noses stuck to their phones. We've been here before and it just seems to keep getting worse.

I thought that I would check out this restaurant looking for a good steak. Was I ever disappointed. I ordered the 9oz filet mignon which was overpriced at $34.95. I figured at that price it should be worth it. The steak was chewy and had no flavor. They slapped brown butter on it to improve the flavor but did nothing for it. The only thing pleasant about this place was the service. The server was prompt and friendly. The interior was so dark which made it difficult to even read the menu. I could tell the interior hadn't been updated in quite a long time. So still in search of a good steak.
