We came on a Sunday night to see a family movie and had a great time, with great prices. Only $5 to get in. Large popcorn only $6. Plus not a lot of previews. Great for families!

We always enjoy our time here at the Amherst Cinema. Very affordable tickets for high quality viewing and sound of failry new movies. Upon walking in you get the perception of that quaint small town atmosphere......Very friendly staff. popcorn is very affordable, and so is the candy....I love the fact that it is very simplistic. and I do not have to take out a loan to enjoy some classic American Movie entertainment.

What's not to like. Prices are reasonable...you can eat all the buttered popcorn you want and not go broke. Nice family place. Sister and I take her great grand kids there as an excuse to go see kiddy movies. lol

Came here for date night with hubby. Being from the DC area I'm not used to the cheaper prices. I loved 4 dollars per ticket, but the seats are old and some do squeak. No big on that thou.

"Poor customer service"I called this evening to get a simple question answered, but to my amazement, during open business hours they were refusing to answer the phone. After multiple attempts, someone finally answered the phone and just sat quietly on the other end refusing to talk while I am saying "hello, is anyone there". I must say it made my decision of which theater to attend this evening very easy. Advice: If you're open, answer the phone. People aren't calling you to just shoot the breeze or chit chat. They're calling because they're interested in coming to spend money at your establishment.

I'm starting to realize that, even though I'm only paying $4 for a movie, I don't want a $4 experience. Our experience this past Saturday included the following 1 pro and several cons:Pros:Cheap.Cons:Very stick floors. Some seats broken. Many seats squeaking so loudly that it got in the way of enjoying the film.Theater noise level (talking!) quite loud up through about the first 3-4 minutes of the movie.Noise level of children almost a constant, as if parents at this theater cannot teach their children proper theater behavior.Very stick/slimy floors.I think the shine has worn off Amherst Cinema for my family and me.

Up until today I have been very happy with this place. Good first run movies, affordable tickets, decent concession stand offerings. Last night I checked online to see what was there. It showed the Croods. My husband took our little one to see it today and there were many kids outside the theater, crying and brokenhearted. The theater was closed for repairs. Way to go! Easter break and all these children with their hearts set on seeing this movie. And no one could think to update the website? And how about updating the recording? No, not that either.

I've been going here for a few months now. The place is nice, the people that work there are nice. The price is amazing. The cleanliness is okay. They do clean everyday or so, it looks dirty because the place is old, I think they should replace the seating because of how old it is. Also the chairs are either broken or very squeaky and they can be uncomfortable. The bathrooms are very clean though. But bare in mind that this is a family theater, so there will always be kids in there. I want to make this review, purely on the theater, and not the customers. But I will talk about that too. The screening is great, but the sound could use some work. But then again, it is a 4$ theater. And for 4$ its a great theater. Now as for people that go there. There is, most of the time, at least one kid in there that is making too much noise, and it can be very irritating! If your child does not know how to behave in a theater, DO NOT BRING THEM! One time there was a kid, about 4 or 5 years old, he was screaming and laughing the whole time due to him being overly excited. I was not the only one that noticed this. Obviously. Many people were annoyed and gave the parents a dirty look. And another time, a kid in front of me kept purposely squeaking his chair. Luckily the father told him to stop after a while. I give this theater a 3 mostly because of how many annoying kids go there. But if the kids were well behaved, then Id give it a solid 4 stars. -Danny
