Great atmosphere at 1942 Tacos and Tequila in Downtown Cleveland! We enjoyed a delicious meal on a holiday evening, without a wait. The restaurant has a cool vibe with comfortable seating and unique lighting fixtures. The thick, crunchy chips and zesty salsa arrived within a few minutes and were a solid start. The Quesabirria Tacos were the star of the show! The flavor was fantastic - rich and herby- although I would have preferred a crispier tortilla. The Shrimp Tacos were good but lacked in flavor. The Long Island Iced Tea was well-made, but the Paloma, unfortunately, tasted more like a margarita and was very pale in color. We appreciated the friendly service and the complimentary tequila shots! Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with a lively atmosphere.

MY 1st REVIEW OF THE NEW YEAR 2024!! YAY! I visited Tacos and Tequila for the first time on Sunday, Dec. 17th 2023 with my friend Susan and her co-worker. We came for an early dinner before a Christmas concert at Playhouse Square and we arrived around 5pm. AMBIANCE -- There are neon lights and signs all throughout the restaurant which creates an inviting and fun atmosphere. FOOD -- I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos which are 3 tacos with pork, mango, pico de gallo, cilantro, and tomatillo sauce with a side of cheese fries. I got my tacos without onions. I don't like cheese that much so I ate around the cheese fries and I tried not to eat too much cheese but the fries were still nice and crispy. The tacos tasted good but I did not like the tortilla as much because I didn't know it would be a bitter kind although it was a soft shell. I prefer the plain flour tortilla's.Their menu is large so I'm sure you'll find something that you like. Besides tacos, they offer burrito bowls, appetizers such as empanadas and wings, and they have a vegetarian menu.DRINKS -- I don't drink alcohol but there is a bar that sells all sorts of drinks so you will find something that you like. A crowd started to form after 6:30pm so it was nice to see the restaurant packed.Customer service was friendly and efficient. I will definitely be back to visit Tacos and Tequila although finding free street parking downtown is hard so I suggest parking a little further away in a paved lot like my friend and I did then walking to the restaurant.****GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024- 1/150 total reviews in 2024- 651 total overall Yelp reviews- Reviewed on 1 February 2024

I got the Quesabirria and I will say it is basically a Mexican French dip. It was soo good. The meat was tender and the dipping broth added even more flavor. The server was very attentive, and we had a large group. Everyone liked their food. Will return.

I had such high hopes for this place. From the outside - It looks amazing, and the vibe in there is great and super fun. But the food was not great. I sent back the chicken tortilla soup, settled for tacos. The soup was more like chicken noodle. The queso was sub par we added chorizo and it was mostly chorizo and a little bit of queso, I would recommend no toppings. The service was great though!!!

Like many other reviewers, we stepped in right before a show at Playhouse Square. First off, the service was INCREDIBLY fast. We got seated, given our free chips and salsa, and our orders taken within 5 minutes. They have a fairly limited vegetarian menu (tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas). I ordered the tacos tropical--I will say I wished the vegetables were a tad less cheesy and more seasoned, but they did the trick. My friends enjoyed their tacos al pastor and veggie enchiladas as well. All in all, a solid Mexican spot in a prime location.

Authentic Mexican food, check. Yummy margaritas, check. Fast service, check. This cute Mexican restaurant is located in the heart of Cleveland and it's a must try! One thing to note is that because of its location it doesn't have a dedicated parking lot, so you'll either have to find street parking or park in a garage nearby.

¡Una experiencia encantadora en todos los sentidos!Meal: 5The dining experience began with complimentary chips and salsa, highlighting a superb salsa roja. The mezcal cantarito and nachos grill with tortilla chips, grilled chicken, and queso dip were standout components to start. I later had a straight shot of mezcal with some soda water. I wanted to sip it with sangrita like I did in Mexico, but they did not have sangrita.Service: 5Juan, despite his bouncer appearance, delivered exceptionally attentive service, enhancing the overall dining satisfaction.Ambiance: 5Nestled within Playhouse Square, the restaurant thrived in a lively atmosphere. The anticipation of theater shows across the street contributed to an electric energy, complemented by festive decor, making the experience truly memorable.
