City Social

This place was huge. We didn't have a reservation for lunch but got there before the rush and soon after was filled with lively conversation. Service was ok, ambiance was above average and food was pretty good. Great for a quick lunch but thought was fairly expensive for what we got.

10/10 loved the environment and all the food. Cute spot with large (very large) salads, delicious soup, and some fancy entrees if that's what you're wanting. Great lunch spot.

On my first visit I entered and the atmosphere was vivacious even though I wasn't greeted at the door. I came directly to the huge bar to order a special cocktail (Rosa Paloma) but was disappointed by the flat prosecco. I decided to try an appetizer the Bam Bam Shrimp which was suggested by 2 servers. When it arrived prior to grabbing my fork there was a huge strand of hair in the shrimp and batter. I immediately showed the bartender and closed out. I won't try this place again.

Had the chicken club for lunch as it was right around the corner from our building. Minus the avocado it was amazing. Fries and ranch were flavorful. My boss had the fish po boy and he said it was great. Outdoor seating was beautiful today. Was able to sit down pretty quick with little to no wait. Which shocked me. Would come here again.

I came here for lunch with my coworkers. I give it 3 stars because the food was below par compared to the price. I paid almost $20 (with tax and tip) for the mushroom swiss burger. The burger meat itself was standard. However, the bottom bun was soaked in oil, soggy, and falling apart, while the top bun tasted stale. The fries were okay.One of my coworkers ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. They were bad. They tasted like they had been fried with old oil, and they had an almost fishy taste to them. They were $12.... for a small basket... Given how many other American restaurants with similar offerings there are in the loop, I am not sure if I would be eager to come here again.

Came here for a late dinner after a day of Saint Patrick's day festivities. My hibiscus mule was very refreshing. The poached pearl salad was delicious and huge. Also loved the chicken tortilla soup.Our waiter was super friendly.

Service: Unexpectedly bad. The restaurant seems like a spot that is use to a work lunch crowd, so it should be able to flip tables pretty quickly. However, my work lunch turned into a 1.5 hr event, based solely on the slow service and lack of attention. Food: completely underwhelming. The menu had so many options that sounded absolutely delicious, but the execution was just not there. The French Onion Soup and Salmon & Capers flatbread were way too salty. The shrimp in the bang bang shrimp tacos were not cooked well. I will not be returning and will discourage any of my peers traveling to our Chicago office from eating at this restaurant.

Whether you're visiting in Chicago or a city native, give this place a try. You'll be glad that you did. The food is amazing. I would suggest starting with an appetizer. The salmon bites were amazing, served with a light and tangy salad. The short rib grilled cheese puts all other grilled cheese sandwiches to shame. The atmosphere is really something. A beautiful open space surrounded by large tables, lined up flat panel TV's behind the bar and a friendly waiting staff waiting to take your order.

I went to City Social for a work lunch last week and absolutely loved it! I got a burrito bowl without meat and it was to die for (move over, Chipotle!). In addition to the food being tasty and fresh, the staff was extremely attentive and helpful to our party of 10 people. Lastly, the ambience was wonderful and gave off a very cozy vibe. Thank you for an amazing work lunch, City Social and cannot wait to come back again for more!

I met a friend here for lunch. All hightop tables. Not a fan of those. Never was.I had them precheck for my allergies I have typed out on paper. I had ordered the Cajun walleye. It comes with white rice and spinach. I ate hardly any of it because I was worried if something was in the spice they missed or something cross-contaminated. They said it was all clear for allergies, but I'm suspicious. I felt an oddness (in my head) overcome me after a few minutes of eating it. It took a a minute for it to cease. I thought it was anaphylaxis but I am not sure what it was. It was weird and nervewracking. I did not say anything to my friend.The meal, what I ate, was decent. My friend ordered Ceasar salad with shrimp and enjoyed it.Unsure if I'll return. Looks like a nice place to meet people, that is for sure.
