Great sandwiches and friendly service!I have met the owners and they are nice people. It's a bit pricey, but they are not walmart or costco, they are local grocery store. They have pretty great selection on cookies :)

City Foods is located just around the corner from my office (and my apartment). For the longest time, I had no idea there was a corner market. My co-worker pointed it out to me and we popped over for a quick lunch between meetings. I was pleasantly surprised by their size, selection, and full deli. They make full, half, and panini sandwiches. They also have a small espresso counter on one side. The store is about a 1/2 city block long, it has a very extensive variety of goods to choose from. A full sammy is about $8 (fully loaded with meats, cheese, condiments and veggies) and a 1/2 is about $4.50. I used to order a full until I realized how large they are. 1/2 is the way to go for a lunch. My fave in the Bacon Bird with Cheddar and Mustard. Yummy!

City Foods is OK and I am going to leave it at OK. The reason I gave this rating is because they do have a lot of choice for a store their size. I found some foods in there that I had not seen in a while, and actually enjoy eating. They seem to have a great Deli as well, even though I have not tried out the Deli as of yet. The staff is not very friendly. They do not even greet me whenever I walk in. They have a nice wine selection as well. I had some really good Macaroni and Cheese from there that contained Tilamook Cheese. It was so good. Other than that, it does not have a very appealing appearance. I recommend if your looking for somewhere to go for a convenient snack or you do not have any other choice, but other than that there are other grocery stores in the area I would recommend, Safeway, Whole Foods, etc.

The sandwiches are very good, very big and priced very reasonably. Quality meats, fresh veggies and bread always delivered with a smile. Regarding the size of the sandwiches, they do not hold back. I can easily make a whole meat sandwich last 2 lunches and I am not at all a light eater. Eat one!

Only reason for the 3 stars is because they're pricey. But the people that work are super nice and super real. You treat them nice they treat you great. Funny how that works.... Also the freaking deli... speechless. Best deli style sandwich I've ever had. And the lady that runs it, fucking bad ass. But what it comes down to, I live a block away and I have no other option, but I'm glad this little place is my option

As a connoisseur of Belltown corner stores, City Foods is a decent benchmark. There are definitely better corner stores in Belltown, but there are definitely worse ones as well. Here are some pros and cons.Pros:Closest to my apartmentGood sandwichesDraft beer on tap for growler fillsOpen lateSome of the people who work there are pretty nice. Shout-out to Mike!Relatively little drama compared to some of the places on 3rd AveCons:More expensive than nearby drugstores for mass-market goods like energy drinksLimited selection at times (they don't reliably have the salami I like)Fresh-made sandwiches are highly variable depending on who's making them. The employees are pretty hit and miss in terms of courteousness

This place really annoyed me. Prices are high and the employees are not very intelligent. I stood at the counter waiting for the employee to ring me up but he turned around a began a conversation with another employee, finally he turned back and rang me up. I gave him my card and then he walked away from the register with my card and began a conversation with the other employee again. I was dumbfounded! I stood speechless for a moment and after about 30 seconds passed I said, "excuse me, please charge my card." He walked back and said "oh sorry," and then have me back my card. He didn't say anything. I took my card and my drink and ran out as fast as I could. I was really annoyed. Never going back there again. It's also not very clean inside.

What they hey!?!This place is not your gluten free yuppie, sand which bar that provides vegan soy snacks for your dog and sells healing rocks.Neither is this for those Amazonian's who expect a 90% discount just because they work at Amazon. It's a small business and not Walmart. The ladies are helpful and surprisingly friendly.Sandwiches are enormous and sooo good.I like extra 1000 island and pastrami on my rubens.Five stars. For those of you who Rate a store based on price... let's not forget that you nincompoops voted for liberal politicians who love to tax the shit out of its people and thus food goes up in price.Soda tax? Sure let's put small business out of business. Why not tax the air I breath or tax my shoes?Stupid liberals, you created places like San Francisco but now you bring that to seattle and can't figure out why the homeless population is growing.
