Randomly found this place and couldn't be happier. The wines were excellent and well priced, I recommend just doing the tasting. The meads were amazing, especially the barrel aged meads. Only had 1 of the spirits, the 11 year whiskey and it was great, hope to taste the rest eventually. Will be back often, the owners were a blast to talk to and the product is excellent!

Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! The mead was excellent and we respected the innovation and diversity of styles available. Even the Pinot Grigio was nice. Spirits were solid but steep for a bottle. Ambiance leaves something to be desired, just feels a bit bare inside, but overall we enjoyed our visit. Recommended!

As the first microdistillery in Ohio, my hubby decided it would be a great place to try on a rainy Saturday afternoon, so we schlepped down to St. Bernard to taste a few samples. We found the tasting room with no problem, and it is in an adorable little old building that has been nicely renovated, complete with a refurnished wooden bar from the 30's (a project completed over an 8-month time frame by Linda, one of the owners). In addition to spirits, you can try out their wines as well.Weekend tastings allow you 4 1/4 oz. sample tasting of your choice from their lists of vodkas, gin, and whiskeys. You pay $5 to do the tasting, which gives you a free shotglass, then it's an additional per-drink charge, ranging from $1.10 to over $10 per sample. By the time we were finished, between me and my husband, who consumed exactly 2 oz. of alcohol between the two of us, we had almost a $30 bill, which didn't include a tip. YIKES!We enjoyed the spirits, kinda. They weren't anything all that exciting, with the exception of their version of a bierschnapps, which isn't even available other than as a sample due to quantity limits. The gin was pretty light on flavor, although in the distiller's defense, he was intentionally shooting for a less juniper-heavy booze, compared to more of the mainstream gins that are so heavy on the plant aroma and taste. We didn't like any of them enough to buy a bottle for home, and again, prices were way too steep for what we tasted. Wines are significantly cheaper at $12 for 5 samples, which were fairly generous pours, from what we saw of our co-tasters. However, other than 2-3 options on their menu, almost all the wines are sweet dessert fruit wines, ports, or meads. NOT my cup of tea. While we were sipping, there was just kind of a weird vibe in the place. The owners kept making strange comments about how they had been shut down for 9 months, how "they" only let them pour 1/4 oz tastings, and rolling their eyes when they talked about state regulations around liquor licenses. It honestly made us uncomfortable, wondering why they'd been shut down and not really wanting to know about their business issues that might exist. Like I said, just kind of weird...While it's very cool to have such a small batch producer here, the prices were really disappointing, and the drinks weren't exciting enough to draw us back. If I liked sweeter wines, I would go back to try those with some girlfriends, but the options are way too narrow for my liking.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, when the rest of Cincinnati was hiding inside because of the snow, and it was a very fun experience. It's a quaint little place with a very unique and interesting menu of mostly sweet wines, ports, and meads. While I'm more of a dry red wine lover, most American grown wines on the eastern half of the U.S. are from white and sweet varietals. As long as you go into local wineries with that knowledge, there's no need to get bent out of shape at their wine lists. That being said, all of wines and meads I tried were very pleasant and palatable. The Mead was one of the best I've ever had, and not cloyingly sweet or overly sour like the 'dry' meads tend to be, and I ended up buying a bottle. The one dry red they had (Cab Sav) was very good (hard to find in Ohio wineries), a testament to their skill. The owner, who started out as a brewer and mead maker, was a wealth of knowledge and we talked to him for a long time about his experiences and processes. We did not try any of the spirits, but I would love to go back and sample them, as they seem really interesting. The tastings are a bit on the pricier side, starting at $12 for 5 wines and $5+ for spirits, though you do get a souvenir wine glass or shot glass to take home. I'm not sure if you can reuse that wine glass on later trips, as it seems a bit excessive to have to buy a glass every time you want to go and taste. However, the actual bottle prices are very reasonable, especially for craft meads. The hours are very limited, with last call around 5:15pm, so not the after dinner type place, but fun for a Saturday afternoon. They do not offer any food, but do let you bring in your own cheese, crackers, etc, which is a nice idea. I will definitely be back, and I look forward to see how they grow with the St. Bernard area.

Though I have followed the micro distillery movement for a while, this was my first time for a tasting. It exceeded my expectations. The proprietors were nice and allowed me to ask questions. I tried their products, some of which I had never had before, and had some misgivings about whether I would like them.Cannot speak to the prices of the products, because, frankly, I was not just paying for the alcohol. I was also paying for the knowledge.I think I came out ahead.I plan to come back.

I posted a review 9 months ago regarding this winery, the proprietor recently responded. We felt that the server was rude asking our friend to "vacate" the bar because he wasn't tasting. There were four of us, but three were tasting, not two. In addition, there was only one other couple in the establishment at the time. Also, we went to Henke, which was awesome, after- not before. As I stated before, we visit many wineries and usually by several bottles between us. However, we didn't purchase from them. In the many wineries we've visited, we've always been able to get clean glasses to take home. So, in the response to my initial review, Linda O must've been thinking of another couple that had a similar experience.

This place is truly unique. Of all the local wineries, this one would be the one I'd take a date or guy friend or business clients. The physical facility is good looking, welcoming, well decorated. The wine runs the gamut from classically commercial cab sauv and chardonnay to esoteric - very interesting - medieval meads as well as contemporary versions with fruit and spices. Add to that, it's a microdistillery. I liked everything I tried. I will have to give it several visits, tho, before I taste everything. The menu is quite large.

We like to visit local wineries when traveling. We've had very good experiences with Ohio wineries, except this winery. While the wine was good, the tasting room very nice, and the addition of the distilled selections a plus, the person at the bar turned all that was good into sour grapes. She was not very friendly or welcoming and made an error in judging our group to be "just wanting to get drunk" (her actual words to us). With this erroneous judgement, she did not want to tell us about the wines we were tasting or give us any advise on our selections, and overall did not want to engage in conversation with us. We expect there to be a charge for tasting, however, we were surprised at the high cost of $15 for a wine only tasting and the distilled selections even more. Even still, I was willing to pay the $5 plus additional cost of $10 to try a quarter ounce of bourban until she made a rude and unprofessional comment to my husband, who was not tasting. We are not a loud or uncivilized group, so I'm not sure why she was quick to make judgement. Like in the movie Pretty Woman, big mistake...huge... because our group tends to buy large quantities.
