I am a novice when it comes to wine and understanding the terminology. However, David (the owner) has never made me feel like I don't know anything. He takes his time to help me understand what I'm looking at regarding labels. He's made suggestions that usually turn out to be right on the money. His wife, Jan, makes delicious bread and bagels (that have to be ordered ahead of time and paid with cash only). Those have ALWAYS been tasty, especially her Asiago Foccaccia.

This was a wonderful find my boyfriend brought me to. The gentleman is incredibly knowledgeable about all things wine, he took us on a brief tour around the shop to help us find out way, and was very thorough in his explanations. He also seemed very willing to look for a particular wine that I have been trying to find, can't seem to find it sold in the metro area! He looked while we were there and told me he may be able to get some. The place itself is a house repurposed thoughtfully to create a comfortable browsing experience. There are tables, chairs and sofa's if you want to hang out, even a few board games laying around. It would be a fun little night out with a small group of friends, there's a very reasonable bottle fee if you want to open a few bottles of wine while you're there. They also have an excellent happy hour from 3:30-close where you can try the wines available for half price each pour, it's a great deal. I would highly recommend checking this shop out whether you're a wino or just a wine wannabe, all are most welcome!

A great place for specialty wines. They have a wine dispenser with featured wines by the glass each week. You can take your laptop or book in, get a glass of wine and relax in the lounge area or the wine room.

David, the owner, and his wife Jan have a FABULOUS business here. The BEST place to come in Mt. Washington if you want a knowledgeable person yo help you select wine and support small, local, independent businesses.WELL worth the trip, especially if you like wine.

I feel like I found the Portofino of Italy ! The Hidden Gem (if you have been there, you will understand why I mean by a hidden gem). I got invited by a friend for wine tasting and I thought this was a winery that produced its own wines/grapes, but I was wrong. This place is a collection of thousands of wines from ALL over the WORLD. It's collection is vast and wide. On Friday night, you pay $15 and you will enjoy 5 different bottles or so from Spain, to Argentina, France, Austria, etc. you name it! In addition, the owner provides a cheese plate and many other little snacks to munch on. There was a gentlemen playing a guitar for the customers and there is a huge living room space to kick back, enjoy a glass of wine and a conversation, comfy couches. Thanks for reading, go find that Perfect Taste! ;)

The owner is amazing. They are not open Sunday but he still delivered my Mom her wine I bought for her on Mothers Day. Above and beyond customer service. Thank you David!

Water Tower Fine Wines has it all and it is a true, authentic wine store. Not only does WTFW have one of the largest selections of Champaign and sparkling wine in the country, it also boasts one of the largest selections of red/white wine in our region. It makes no difference if you are looking for a value-driven quality wine with a budget in mind, or a superb high-end bottle for that special occasion (French, German, Italian, California, and et al), you can find it here. Be sure to attend one of their weekly wine tastings. You will meet many wine enthusiasts in the area and feel welcomed right away. Gourmet food is on hand, which is prepared right in-house and always pairs nicely with the wine. Come casual, and enjoy the wine, food, and enjoyable atmosphere. In the summer, there is even an outdoor deck to enjoy. Water Tower Fine Wine is a one-of-a-kind experience. I've been to an awful lot of wine shops around the United States, and this one is my favorite.

Have been to their tastings several times with mixed reactions. They have tastings on Friday evenings 6-8pm. They usually have a red flight and a white flight you can try. One flight for $15, both for $20- so you might as well do both right. They usually have an early bird special bonus wine for those that get there early enough and often a bonus wine of the month at the end. Sometimes you walk out of there tasting 12-15 wines for your $20. And on top of that they always have a buffet of hot and cold food to enjoy while you taste. The people who work there are always pleasant and efficient. Here are the negatives: 1. The shop is very small and can get crowded at times. The last time I went, there were no seats available and anywhere I stood, I felt in the way. They do have a patio that should be open now to help this issue. 2. The food is good but the owner of the store stands there and watches you as you serve yourself. I understand that this prevents people from being hogs, but it just feels creepy to me. It wouldn't be so bad if he found something to keep himself busy, but still be in the area. 3. This is one of the most expensive tastings I have been to. They do serve better wines than a lot of places and you get a lot of tastings, but if you aren't "into" wines, I wouldn't recommend this for you. So, it comes down to try it for yourself and see how you feel about it. I am going to try it again with the patio open before I really make a firm judgement.
