Troll Pub at the Wheelhouse

The parking is unacceptable, costly (to some) and scam-ish/reviews.Nobody was in the restaurant, only the 10 or so of us, including the bar.We were seated promptly at 6pm and ordered drinks & appetizers. I was served red wine in an ordinary 50 cent glass, not a wine glass.I and a few of us ordered the chicken tender basket. We all agreed that the chicken was thin, dry, and tasteless. The fries were very good!The cream of mushroom soup was very good as I was told. Most of the people seemed to enjoy their selections, but not the chicken.Too much of a hassle for this, otherwise, beautiful restaurant with very outdated and skeptical parking.I will not be back!

We made a reservation for 6:15, in order to make it to the theatre by 8. When we got there, at 6:08, we were told it would be at least an hour wait as they sat a whole lot of walk-ins that showed up a little earlier. We made the reservation to make sure we could be seated. The fact that they sat the walk ins while ignoring the reservation list is simply unacceptable. We weren't late, we gave ourselves plenty of time AND they ask that you pay for parking before you even come in. All only to be turned away. (They confirmed that they had the reservation as well, and while the person at the host desk was very apologetic, it didn't really help us.)It's a real shame as we were looking forward to it - but I'm writing this from the Dublin Pub nearby - which, while busy, sat us as soon as they heard the story. It is unlikely that we will be back.

My girlfriend & I went to the Troll Pub after eating a great meal at the Dublin Pub.Atmosphere is pretty casual and they have a dart board and golf video game machine (I think Golden Tee). There weren't a lot of people there when we arrived but this place can definitely accommodate many people. It's in the Wheelhouse building and is a side entrance that is pretty nondescript, but there's a huge fully stocked bar. There are multiple specialty drinks but you can order classic drinks as well. Bartenders are attentive and serve up drinks relatively quickly. Prices seem reasonable considering the location. There is also an outdoor area where you can smoke and vape. The outdoor smoking area has a few tables and seats plus a speaker wired to the jukebox. The jukebox is a TouchTunes machine and you can either queue up songs via an app or with cold hard cash and scrolling through the touchscreen.This is a fun bar that I really enjoyed. There's a giant troll statue outside that you cannot miss! I recommend!!

Beautiful old building, and they've re-used it very well.The food is a whole bunch of "meh...". Not great - we would NOT return for the food. Drinks are fine. Services is friendly.

Overall, a really solid experience, but there are a couple of issues that need to be addressed.My wife and I were in town from out of state, specifically to bike Dayton. I know bike racks aren't a given by any means, but given the sports bar atmosphere of the place, I would have hoped someone would have thought to make an area where we could put our bikes and chain them to something solid. That's just a personal issue. Now on to the service...It was stellar. The hostess greeted me when I came in and answered my questions with a legit smile and was very personable. Ya know how some hostesses act bored or do the bare minimum? Not her. She was engaged and very nice.We ended up sitting in the bar, so the bartender took care of us. She was GREAT! She was attentive and checked on us several times. She even brought us extra waters when she noticed ours getting low, joking that she knows we need to stay hydrated since we're bikers. She could not have been sweeter. Both women did a great job and management needs to know that.I had the chicken and waffle sandwhich and it was great! The meat itself were two super large tenders, which is a good size. I gotta say something, though. What is with charging a dollar extra for a small thing of syrup. Seemed petty and a blatant cash grab/markup. Come on, guys. That's kind of petty. First time ever I had to pay extra someplace for syrup for a chicken and waffle sandwich. :/Now here's my one complaint: the "club sandwich." It was pretty pathetic. They should just name it, "a twelve year old's attempt at making a sandwich." Google a picture of a club sandwich. It barely looks like what my wife was served. A signature club uses THREE slices of bread, not two like this one. The lettuce was just a clump that was slapped on there. The bread was barely toasted. Ya know how a club sandwich has thinly sliced tomato? This had none! My wife said it was serviceable and just something to eat. She didn't enjoy it. She was so hungry she didn't want to get the menu out again, pick something else, then wait for it to be made. You guys need to seriously rethink your "club sandwich. It's really sad.That being said. The fries were unbelievably great. I don't know what the seasoning was, but we both loved them!We ate there 9/8/23, in the early afternoon. I say that so management can give proper kudos to the hostess and bartender. Both of them were sweet and helpful. They elevated the experience and made it really enjoyable, given the issues we had with our "club sandwich."

The food and service were fine. Ambiance... average bar. But all of my friends and I got "parking tickets" from the lot right next to Troll Pub. This BS parking company now wants each of us to pay more than $50 for parking in their lot! Apparently they had signs about paying for parking that weren't visible to any of us when we arrived. It seems like Troll Pub's lot, but it's not. I'm not paying this bogus ticket. My friends and I will simply never visit this bar again because we don't like being extorted. The tickets say they will even send us to collections over this fine! I will see them in court before I pay these crooks for trying to squeeze me over a pay-to-park sign that is far from obvious.Troll Pub should take control of their parking situation or they're sure to lose more customers like us. It's the first thing we all said the moment we found these tickets upon leaving: "Never coming back here again. Easy choice!"

Everything here was good. Came with a group of about 10 folks. The service was excellent, good beer menu and the food came out reasonably quick. Only issue I'd give feedback on is the bread with the fried fish sandwich was way too dense or thick.

Always quick, always working hard, and the happy hour is unbeatable! Sometimes they are absolutely swamped and things can take a bit longer, but they are always working super hard to get everything done quickly. Their happy hour prices are incredible and the beer is super affordable.

The service was good.The appetizer, pretzel and beer cheese was good.The entrees not so good. My husband had the club sandwich. I did taste that and it was fine. I had the cheesesteak sandwich. It was burnt meat bits and cheese to one side of the sandwich. We won't be back!
