Tom & Chee - Newport

OMG! The BFG + creamy tomato soup + donut cheese with bacon. Super friendly staff. Can't wait to come back Newport!

First time and last time here. The place was pretty messy despite it being empty. The sandwich was okay. I wasn't expecting it to be a fully loaded Sandwhich but there was like 2 pieces of ham and the saddest tomatoes. It is a convenient spot but I'd save your money and go elsewhere.

They had me the second I became aware of the grilled cheese donut. Finding out that a location no longer exists within the city limits of Cincinnati didn't deter us. We walked across the nearest bridge and over to the Levee. I may have accidentally attempted to open doors that were not meant to be open during my attempt to find this place but that's neither here nor there.There wasn't another human in sight when we first entered the establishment. I already knew what I wanted so I confidently walked up to the register. My line of vision immediately snapped to the mac & cheese on the menu above, noting the "award winning" comment. I slipped in an order of that just under the wire. We walked around to the back of the place as, by this time, other patrons followed our lead and entered. I was impressed they were able to find us but they kindly placed our order between us just as the anticipation was reaching its peak. So the donut appeared to be of the glazed variety and, unexpectedly, the outside of the sandwich was the inside (unglazed) portion of the donut. Upon reflection, this is probably for the "grilling" part of the sandwich. It was a very interesting combination. I wouldn't say that it reaches the realm of other, more notorious combos like white and rice, peanut butter and jelly, or ham and cheese. GF wasn't head over heels for it and didn't have more than a bite or two. I took one for the team and finished it. It was enjoyable. It was worth the calories. I don't feel compelled to eat it again.The mac & cheese was very good and worth an order.The staff were also very nice and helpful. I would recommend.

Great concept for a fast casual spot, and the food is good! We each got a cup of soup and grilled cheese; I got the bacon/goat/fig and white chicken chili, and my partner got the west of Philly and creamy tomato soup. The grilled cheeses were flavorful, stuffed, cheesy, and toasted to perfection. The bacon was cut up into small chunks, not full strips of bacon. The creamy tomato soup wasn't bad but it was standard. The chili was flavorful but definitely on the spicy side, and be warned for non-tomato lovers, it has its fair chair of tomato chunks.

Creamy tomato soup! No one can make it better than these guys. Pair it with a hot sandwich, I got the fig and goat cheese sandwich and asked to add mushrooms to it. SO GOOD! It's all I wanted on a cold rainy weeknight. The service is fast, you can be in and out within a few mins. I'd recommend dining in instead of take out since this food is at its tastiest when hot.The location in Newport is perfect since there are multiple seating options - inside and outside. You can also go catch a movie after a quick bite or take a walk by the river. The staff was friendly, made recommendations and were happy to modify my sandwich the way I liked it. I will certainly come back!

So this is a tough one to write. Every time I go to the aquarium I always want to try this place. Finally did today!! Looks cute when we come in, order at register, get a number, sit down and your food is brought to your table. Sandwich was a good size, soup was tasty!! Not blow your socks off, but good! Here's where it went south. I used the bathroom after. The bathroom is literally like a 50 year old gas station bathroom. Strange particles around the bowl and seat, the floor is gross. The walls are gross. I am pretty sure they have forgotten about this bathroom since they opened. Then I was looking around after I left there. The whole restaurant is pretty neglected as far as cleanliness goes. The walls are badly beat up like as if WWE competes here weekly. So now I am questioning if I will end up back on the commode in an hour....

Came here on 4th of July since it was one of the few food restaurants still open around 7pm and it did not disappoint(:The service was good, mainly due to chef. The cashier who took our order wasn't particularly inviting but once our food was done, the chef personally took it to us, thanking us for coming and to enjoy which caught me by surprise. I appreciated him for being so friendly and walking our food to us(:My boyfriend and I ordered a grilled cheese donut and the bacon Mac grilled cheese which were both really tasty. The cheese in the donut was fairly mild which complimented the sweetness very nicely. The mac and cheese in the bacon Mac was seasoned very well, not overly cheesy and the bread had a great crunch, not very greasy either. Very satisfied with the food(:Definitely come here if you have the opportunity or are in the area! :D

Tried the classic grilled cheese donut and it was pretty good. I expected more cheese flavor but it was solid. For the price I think it was worth trying once. The restaurant did look a little run down and the bathrooms were not clean. It's in a nice location and really convenient for a lunch spot after the aquarium.

Delicious fast casual option at Newport on the Levee. Quick, friendly service and a menu with lots of variety.When the weather is nice, the patio is great for people watching at the levee. Fair price for absolutely delicious soups and sandwiches. This was a great choice before a movie - we were so full we weren't tempted by the overpriced snacks at the AMC nearby.Great classic flavors, very family-friendly, and plenty of seating too. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait to order and plenty of seating options. I will definitely be back!

We took our grandsons for lunch and were disappointed. The bread was stale and the cheese tasted like it was anything but real. The macaroni and cheese had an odd taste to it and neither child would finish their meal. The adult sandwiches had the same issues ( Westsider and West of Philly) but the latter was too runny for a sandwich and had very little meat. The employees were friendly and the place was clean but we would not go back there.
