Always a great night out!Since first moving to Cincy, I was introduced to the original Southgate House. Having played at and attended dozens and dozens of gigs, on all of the various levels of the facility, it was my absolute favorite local venue. Sadly, it is no more. But then came The Revival!!!!As much as I miss the original SH, The Southgate House Revival fills that void in so many ways.Still offering at least three different stages of different sizes, is a house of fun. In fact, if you don't have a great night out at SGH, it's you, not them. This haunting venue was originally established in 1866 as the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church. The history here!! You feel it as soon as you walk in. In 2012 it was converted into the Southgate House Revival.I've been fortunate to see shows in The Sanctuary, The Lounge and Revival Room. Each one of them with their own bar to serve. And, in many cases, you can float between the larger Sanctuary and Revival Rooms to The Lounge. So, if a larger act is between sets, go check out what's going on in The Lounge.SGH is a great host for both national and local acts. The Lounge even hosts a regular open mic night for music, comedy, spoken word and whatever anyone can come up with.Drinks-A-Plenty! Whether you're looking for a solid IPA, and known typical American beer, a mixed drink or even a Coke, you've come to the right place. Plenty of choices to lubricate your throat and brain while you're having a great time.Would I go back? As often as possible. Here's a tip - Check out their webpage frequently. One thing SGH does a great job of is keeping their upcoming shows listed. You can almost guarantee that you've not heard of a lot of them. But do yourself a favor and go one step further and check some of the bands or artists out online or on YouTube. I can tell you that I've gone and seen several shows that I've never heard of all because I saw their list, got intrigued, checked it out and decided to go. Have yet to have been let down. And, to the SGH Management and Team - Great job by all and thank you for keeping the Arts and Music scene alive and well in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky!

Had an old friend not been playing I would've never known this place even existed. Loved that there are multiple areas to have events in one day and such cool old church.

My husband and I often attend concerts all over the tri-state area. We live in Ohio. We frequent WV, KY Indy, and MI frequently as well. We enjoy a wide variety of genres and styles. A show can be an experience like no other. We are constantly chasing that sound, that feeling that resonates in your body.Tuesday was our first time at Southgate House Revival House. I had researched Southgate beforehand quite a bit. We've tried to visit several times before but our schedules never worked out. We've been lucky enough to hear some of the artists that frequent Southgate in our own homes and at incredible venues around the state.I now want to hear every person I've ever seen, in concert, at Southgate House! The acoustics, and the space = perfection. Lighting = lovely ambiance. Beautiful, full, filling sound. Daniel Mason, singer, told us beforehand, "Just wait, it sounds incredible in there. This is the best I've ever heard Rachel." Daniel has toured the world extensively over the years with various artists. I knew I was in for a treat! However, Southgate superseded my expectations.Amazingly easy parking on site! Great outdoor area in the heart of everything that's Newport. Gorgeous architecture. Inside and out. So many unique details to study, if you have the chance. There are quite a few steps up to the upstairs stage. It's worth it once at the top. The mural above is a beautiful sight. It almost seems hidden in plain view. Such a cool space. Comfortable. I really enjoyed how the tables were set up to seat 2 or 4. The staff was amazingly friendly. I appreciated every pleasant encounter. The bathroom! Wow. I knew to expect some coolness in the bathroom. I always enjoy peeping at the stickers and art at venues. Southgate's upstairs and downstairs bathrooms were awesome. In addition, they smelt wonderful and were incredibly clean. I am so impressed by this. As well as everything beginning and ending promptly. That cannot always be timed out. That is teamwork and communication at its best. We were off work at 5 on Tuesday. At the venue by 7:30 and out by 10:15. It is possible to have fun on a random weekday. As parents with full-time jobs, we appreciate these midweek adventures. You can tell everyone takes great pride in their work and wants you to have the best experience. We already have plans to be back this fall.Thank you for an incredible Tuesday evening show.

I much prefer seeing artists/bands in small venues. As such, I was greatly anticipating seeing one of my favorite bands, Son Volt, in the Sanctuary at the Southgate House Revival. While there wasn't much, if any, parking directly adjacent to the venue, there was plenty of parking available in the neighborhood a block or two away. My expectations were reasonably high given that the Southgate House Revival was a repurposed, historic church built back in the 1860s. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, it was very nice that the owners kept the old pipe organ and all of the beautiful stained glass. It made it one of the most unique live music venues that I've ever experienced.I figured, rightly, that the Sanctuary would be large enough to attract a national act like Son Volt, but intimate enough to offer excellent sightlines to the stage. It was a sold out show. I don't know what constitutes a "sell out" in the Sanctuary, but it was standing room-only venue. I'm guessing there were around 500-600 people in the crowd. Additionally, since it was an old church, I assumed, correctly, that the acoustics of the room would be much better than your average music venue of comparable size and definitely much better than an outdoor "shed" like the sonic mud bog, Rose Music Center in Huber Heights. I was up by the stage and the sound was clear, but not ear splitting. I didn't move around so I can't say if there were some places, which may have been acoustically better or worse. In my mind, I couldn't find any negatives for my first Southgate House Revival show. Would I go back? In a heartbeat, if a band or artist that interested me was performing.

Great venue with multiple bar areas, music stages, and, a large outside area. Definitely recommend seeing a show or two at Southgate House! I have always enjoyed Southgate - both this location and the old Southgate - cannot wait to return for another show! 10/10!

This venue to listen to music is so beautiful and soulful. It use to be a church and the band plays in front of vibrant stain glass windows. We listened to Smooth Hound Smith with Honey and Houston. The bands are folk music with a little country. It was an amazing night.

As much as I miss the original Southgate House mansion, I do adore the new location and I'm so happy with their choice for the new location. The Southgate House Revival is in an old church that went by the name "The Grace Methodist Episcopal Church". If I recall reading correctly it was empty for more than 12 years before they moved in. I love that they still have different rooms to see different shows. The Sanctuary, The Lounge and The Revival Room. Which some of the smaller rooms may be smaller, but they are still really nice for seeing all bands. You can always see, and it always feels intimate. They still have a great bar, and I love the main bar in The Sanctuary with the old pipe organ behind it. Everyone who works here is pretty chill, the only time I've seen them not be so nice is when there was kids trying to get away with underage drinking. Which then they had every right to be mean, and I don't blame them. You're not going to have to deal with any angry and mean "bouncer" type characters here. I'm so happy they're still around. The Southgate House Revival is easily the best place in Northern Kentucky & Cincinnati to see a show.

The Southgate House Revival is the rare music venue that has character. It's easy to get accustomed to soulless corporate venues. And there's a place for that. But the Southgate House is a truly cool place to see a show. It's an old church that is now a multi-room music venue. I've had some issues with sound from one venue bleeding into another, though they do their best to manage this. There's also adequate street parking in the area. Overall, it's a good venue.

Intimate environment. Quaint, nice cocktails but horrible seating. Rock hard chairs from the 70s.

My husband and I came with some friends came to The Southgate House Revival to see Johnny Fink last night. It was our first time there and we will definitely come back. This venue is gorgeous and the staff is great. The bartender at the show, Lala, made us feel welcomed and appreciated and was so personable. She made our first time experience memorable. We can't wait to come back for another show!
