The Root Beer Stande

Finally made it to the root beer stande this past weekend to try their chicken and noodles. It's unfortunate that I don't have a glowing review to post. They weren't bad, by any means, but they also weren't great. I didn't realize until after the fact that it appears that they are actually making their own noodles now and not getting them from granny franners like they used to. Or maybe that's just because of the winter, I'm not sure. But I think the hype is over granny franners and not the root beer stande's version. I have hyponatremia, (low blood sodium), so I eat a LOT of salty foods. I add some form of salt to almost everything I eat. I did not need to add salt to these noodles. Again, they weren't bad, but if salt isn't your thing, I don't think you would like these.The mashed potatoes were super dry. I added some milk to them and popped them in the microwave to try to doctor them up a bit. I also got a root beer float, which ended up only being about half full once the foam settled.I don't think that I've been to the root beer stande since I was a kid, so maybe it appeals to a certain group , and I'm not it. This definitely isn't something that I would travel out of my way for again. I'll keep an eye out for granny franners, but the root beer stande noodles didn't leave me wanting more.

Went here for the first time for the Eclipse party. What a great excuse to eat ice cream! I ordered the Windy City Dog ($7.99) while hubby got the Cod Fish sandwich ($7.99) & a side of fries ($5.29). We both got Dole Whips for dessert. Hubby didn't even want to go here but ended up liking his cod sandwich & Dole Whip. Both of us agreed the fries were way overpriced & not that good. My "Chicago dog" was a little pricey & just okay - way too much mustard that overwhelmed the other flavors. I would order it again with the mustard on the side. The cod sandwich was huge & tasty - highly recommend. Our car hop took good care of us & we tipped her accordingly. We would like to return here & support a locally owned family restaurant. Looking forward to trying the burgers!

Friendly service and the food is always hot and fresh! Nice indoor area to eat if you don't want to sit in your car.

While visiting the Dayton Ohio area we stopped at the Root Beer Stande. I saw that it was the Retro Old Fashioned Curb Service and it was Hot Dogs and Root Beer what a wonderful Nostalgic foodie adventure.We pulled in and the waitress was there "Toot-sweet". I ordered 2 Hot Dogs with Chili, Mustard and Onions. They do not put Cole Slaw on the Dogs here I also ordered a large Root Beer, which I was hoping was HOMEMADE but not..Tony had his own Beverage of Choice in the car already.The food was good! The Chili or sauce on the dog was very good but the onions were strong from being a little old maybe a day or so. But I would eat here again, strong onions don't keep me away!!! I recommend this nice little Mom and Pop Retro Foodie Adventure!!!

Being that I absolutely love Root Beer, I had to give the Root Beer Stande a shot! Pulled up and sat for a moment, I thought this was a car hop but I figured that maybe things had changed so I got out of the car and that prompted the waitress to come and greet me. She gave us an updated menu that had a lot more to choose from.I ordered the Hanky Panky Burger basket. The Hanky Panky is a bacon cheeseburger with a special sauce and grilled cheese sandwiches for buns. The basket came with fries and a drink, so I obviously got a root beer. The waitress advised me that they are cash only, but she could accept Cash App. I ended up Cash Apping her for my meal and the food came out fairly quickly.The burger looked amazing and it was! My only complaint with my burger would be that I wish it had a little more of the secret sauce. The fries were standard-issue crinkle fries, but they were hot so that was a plus! The house root beer was a bit underwhelming because it lacked the kick that usually comes with most root beers. I will likely try the red cream soda when I return.My wife got the Phillio Cheesesteak and she said the meat was good, but the veggies were heavily salted. She also got an order of fried mushrooms, and she really enjoyed them. We both agreed that we would definitely try them again in the future!Hanky Panky Burger 1-5=4.9!Fries 1-5=3.5.Root Beer 1-5=2.Customer Service 1-5=4.

Horrible service !Complicated payment ! It is definitely not worth your day to be there !

Living in east Dayton 60 years and being at root beer stand can't count how many times in my youth. I have not been in several years. This is what I got today after spending $20. 2 short hot dogs and 2 fries. Kids could only eat a few of the fries they were so under cooked. The hot dogs were no better than what you can get at speedway for $1 a piece. Avoid this place like the plague!!!

Waited over an hour for our food. We ordered it to go. I checked our bag before we left, & 5 items were missing. When I went back to tell them, they were not happy. Had to wait another 20 minutes. I doubt we'll be back anytime soon.

I didn't order any rood from the stand itself so I can't speak to the food but I can speak to the service. My friend placed an order from Granny Franer's for pick up and I volunteered to pick it up since I live closer. She picked a time for pick up and paid online. I've never been to the stand before or ordered from the food truck through fb before so I didn't know exactly how the process would work. Pulled in and got out to see the food truck was boarded up shut. I got out of the car and an employee immediately shouted if I needed help. I explained I was there for the food truck. She said "What food truck" so I pointed. "They aren't open" I explained that I had placed a pick up order. She yelled at me that I had to pick up from the stande window. She was extremely rude and nasty the way she spoke to me. All she had to say was "oh you just pick up from the window" and that would've been fine. Even when I got to the window she was yelling at me about how much I owed and when I tried to explain it was already paid she wouldn't stop saying I owed money. The other girls in the stande didn't seem to know how the process worked either.
