We were on our way home from The Heart of Ohio and wanted to try a new restaurant. So after checking a few menus at various places we settled on The Red Brick Tavern. We had no idea that this was the second oldest operating restaurant in Ohio!! We could tell it was special as soon as we saw the building. It looks like an old home that was converted into a restaurant. The dining room is split up into each of the rooms with one room being a bar area. The decor is colonial and fits the atmosphere perfectly. It's just so perfect and unique and we loved the entire experience. As for the food, it was fresh and delicious and quickly served. We ordered the bavarian pretzel, but didn't realize that as a special treat for just being a patron, they serve CINNAMON ROLLS. Yes, you read that correctly. They just give you a cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven for coming in. I felt like royalty. And it was so delicious!! We were already full once our entrees arrived but that didn't stop us from eating at least half of them before boxing the rest for later. We both tried their smashburger patty melt with fries. Once again, everything was fresh and made to order. Their fries were definitely mere potatoes just that morning, I'm sure of it. Perfectly seasoned and with a slightly crispy edge. And for the first time ever, these fries reheated so well later that night!! Usually fries from restaurants don't fare too well on that front. We will definitely stop by The Red Brick Tavern again on our next visit to Heart of Ohio. The food, atmosphere and final price were all right up our alley.

We were happy with everything we got. The cocktails were delicious. The bread basket was top tier. It has coconut cream cheese cinnamon rolls in it! For free! The space was nice. We had a large group and had the front room to ourselves. We will definitely be back.

Well, I can start by saying that the ambiance is very cool. I love the history of this iconic stage wagon stop. Lots of presidents have dined here in the past. The service was pretty slow. We were the only ones in the main dining room area and there were three other couples in the bar area. It wasn't busy. To be fair, our food did come fast once we had ordered. Everything was just kind of average. I had the country-fried steak, which was okay (I think I should have ordered something else instead) and my son had a plain cheese pizza which was just fine. It came out piping hot and it was perfect to satiate his appetite. They also served their signature cinnamon rolls, which were warm and tasty. I tried the Old Fashioned, but to be honest, I think I make a better one at home. The food is fairly high-priced, and I'm not sure the quality is quite up to par, but it is an interesting place to stop. I wanted to ask more about the history, particularly about the alleged haunting of the woman who stitched the sampler that says "Remember Me", but our server was not very visible throughout our visit to inquire. She was very nice, but not super chatty. I've heard said sampler is on display upstairs, but it was closed off for repairs. I wouldn't make a point of returning again, but it had been on my list of historic Ohio places to visit, so I don't regret stopping in.

We went on prime rib night. Had some apps which were not horrible. Had the prime rib. I will say they do not ask how you want it cooked. It does come out rare. I like that so I actually thought the prime rib was not bad. The clam chowder was bad. It had a very strong fish smell and it just was not goodI guess as far as the quality of food goes it would be like a more expensive Applebees. Our waitress was super nice, really nice. But the service was really , really bad. The restaurant also nickel and dimes for everything. There are no substitutions or you will have to pay. Out checks were really messed up and we didn't get our dessert we asked for.We didn't get billed for it either so I guess it wasn't the end of the world. Would I eat here again? Maybe. They were not busy so I would hate to see how service would be if they were. But I might give them another shot at some point. Again not horrible just not what I was expecting

Red Brick Tavern June 2024It's important to get the word out. The Red Brick Tavern is back again under new ownership, and it's great! The locals know already but its somewhat remote location prevent travelers from accidentally stumbling in, even though it is mere minutes from an I-70 exit.Don't let the front door scare you off. Inside, the restoration of this stagecoach era building is well underway and the dining room and bar are again comfortable and welcoming spaces. We ate there yesterday with non-local friends (Michigan and Miurfield). We all consider eating out at interesting places our primary hobbies and all of us were completely pleased.Opening the front door rings an antique bell and we were greeted in moments and seated immediately. The menu was diverse but not overwhelming. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable from beginning to end. Please note that this is not a grab and dash place. Good homemade food takes time but patience is well rewarded. While the menu has pizza, sandwiches and fingerfood we all chose full entrées and everything was excellent. And abundant. The bartender told me has worked here under every owner since 1983 and says the new owners (aged 29 and 30) are like his own sons and are really on the right track. We live sorta in West Jefferson and the drive to the Red Brick is closer than anyplace good on the west side of Columbus. We have eaten here since the 70's and this is the best it's ever been. In a time where restaurant closures around Columbus are almost daily news, we pray that this one prospers.

Dinner with friends. I come out here once or twice a year to sit with friends who come in from eastern ohio. Each time we are here, the service, food and the western feel from the decorations still captures my eyes. . Very solid place to eat and relax.

Servers are great. Ambiance is great. Food is mediocre. The menu has been cut from a few months ago when you could get better food. I remember the glory days of the Red Brick Tavern, and I don't expect those days to return. But the place is too beautiful to be a place that serves only bar food.
