Gave this place a shot as it came highly recommended by many and boy was it good. I believe most steak houses are greatly overrated, but this one lived up to the hype. One of the top three steakhouses I have ever been to in the country. The service was friendly and typical of most fine establishments. Beverages never ran dry, which is always a plus. They had many types of seating options from private areas, high tops, bar, and normal tables. I ordered the herb crusted filet. The quality of the meat was top notch. It was cooked perfect to order. Crusted on the outside and tender on the inside. I had the garlic mashed potatoes on the side, which were also good, but I would opt for the baked potato next time. Prior to all that deliciousness, they proved a delicious salad and some tasty bread. I would definitely come back here!

The food was phenomenal per usual. Steak cooked perfectly and very flavorful. I prefer to sit in the upstairs bar area--vibes are little more relaxed. My one critique would be that I felt that the service was little slow. It was a later reservation so it was not overly busy when we were in there.

A swing and a miss for what's supposed to be a tried and true Cincinnati favorite. Woof were we disappointed -- it was a combination of the little things that made the entire experience lack luster. The only thing that was decent were the wait staff and the drinks; both the waitress and bus boy were so sweet and very accommodating, and the drinks were actually pretty good, but at $18/per, I hope the next diners are cheap dates. The restaurant vibe was like a dive bar. We sat at a high top table with barely enough elbow room to accommodate our plates and silverware, felt very exposed and un-intimate. Not the vibe for a date night.I'll say that we don't eat at steakhouses often because we can cook a better steak at home and for far cheaper. Our meal was $285 for soup (fine), salad (store bought croutons, brown lettuce, decent portion), an 8oz medium and very dry filet, a 12oz medium rare overcooked filet, creamed corn (served cold), brussel sprouts (served room temp), chili spread (a random cup of whole roasted chili peppers??), and horseradish (this was as it should have been). We went because we had a $200 gift card from our wedding a few years ago-- but we will not be going back and I suggest you don't waste your money.

So it's been a good 13 years since I've dined at this location. I sure missed it and glad I returned. I regret not coming over the years. They are still and remain a 5 star restaurant. My Mr.'s boss invited us to dine with him and his wife (Christmas dinner treat). We dined on a Wednesday night. Our server was Howie. Excellent server and very detailed with the menu. The inside is gorgeous as always. Love the nostalgia decor and the red lighting that gives it police station vibes but not overwhelming. Looks like the menu changed but not much. They still have a la carte but now with the meals we get a side and salad. Me and My Mr. ordered:Wine:La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2017 (Bottle)Appetizer:West coast Oysters Dinner: -Barrel Cut Filet Mignon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad (Mr)-Herb Crusted Filet with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad (Me)Everything was perfect. The oysters were earthy and fresh. The steak was cooked medium rare and was super juicy. The sides and salads were amazing. Loved the wine paired with my meal.I couldn't finish my steak that I had to take it home. We didn't have room for dessert but our server Howie was nice enough to serve us peppermint ice cream and cookie cake. That was awfully nice. What an awesome experience. I'm still thinking about it. This was my Mr's first time dining in and he enjoyed it. Definitely returning and can't wait to try the other items on the menu.

I'm honestly surprised I've never tried this place before. It's a true Cincinnati staple, and you know that if a place has Jeff Ruby's name on it, it's gonna be epic. This place has been named "best splurge" in Cincinnati by Citybeat numerous times and for good reason. If you want incredible steaks, this place is a top pick.My boss invited my lady and I out to dinner here. The building to this place was built in 1901 as a police patrol house and is listed as a historic building. The inside still has that classic historic feel all around. It's definitely not a huge building but does have lots of seating. The bar upstairs is really cool and almost has a speakeasy feel to it but without the password to get in. Of course their menu is mainly about big steaks but there are other options as well. Their wine menu is HUGE and loaded with great choices in all price ranges. They also have a menu with beer, spirits, and specialty cocktails. Our server, Howie, was absolutely awesome. He took the time to explain all of the menu and made great recommendations. Here's everything my lady and I enjoyed:Wine:-La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2017 tempranillo (Bottle)Appetizer:-West coast Oysters Dinner: -Barrel Cut Filet Mignon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie Salad-Herb Crusted Filet with a side of garlic mashed potatoes & Freddie SaladEverything from start to finish was incredible. The oysters were super fresh, the steaks were cooked to perfection, and the wine we picked paired amazingly well with it all. We couldn't even finish it all so we had some to take home. And though we didn't think we had room for any dessert, Howie highly recommended we try their peppermint ice cream, so we decided to have a couple scoops, and it was excellent. The peppermint wasn't overpowering at all. In fact I'd say it was just right and a great finish to an amazing meal.I'd definitely come here again for a splurge dinner. I might opt to sit in the bar area next timr if there's a table available. No wonder this place is such a Cincinnati staple and has been around for so long.

Everything here is great and the steaks are good too but the other food and drinks are the stars. Their crab cake was the best we've ever had, their brussels sprouts were unreal, we had the best old fashioned and espresso martinis ever, and their butter pie is a star I would go back just for that alone. Staff was great and the vibe and lighting there is so romantic.

What a great event! We had our daughter's rehearsal dinner at the Precinct, and the food was not only phenomenal, but the service was outstanding. The appetizers were delish. The baby crabcakes and the Wagyu meatballs were so good. The shrimp was somehow even bigger and more delicious than normal. Every steak (and there were about 50 of them) were cooked perfectly. There were a lot of people and all of the servers had such great patience. The bartenders were amazing. Jen, Jordan, Howie and everyone did such a fantastic job!Best celebration! Thank you to all at Precinct!

Went there on a date. We had reservations but arrived early and hungry so we sat at the bar and ordered our food. I ordered a steak that came with a salad and mashed potatoes. I actually had to send the steak back because it was really salty. Another followed and it was much better. Our bartender was Tre, I think. He was really nice. My go to drink is always a lemon drop so I'm on the hunt to find the perfect one...I'm still searching it had an artificial lemon flavor I didn't care for.

I would recommend anyone to stop by and have a drink and take in the atmosphere. It's a beautiful place. The service is top notch. That said, we went for dinner last night. We shared a ribeye, had the Freddie salad, and got Mac and cheese, mushrooms, and creamed spinach. We had three drinks between the two of us. We got a free iced cookie cake for our anniversary. The salad was great if not just a touch drenched in ranch. The ranch was incredible though. The ribeye was good. Cooked well. It wasn't really seasoned though. It was not worth the $95 it cost. The Mac and cheese was good, but so rich a few bites would suffice. We took it home and had it again tonight and still couldn't finish it. The mushrooms had a strong horseradish taste, which was a bit off putting. The creamed spinach was incredible. By far the standout dish for us.I'm eating the leftover cookie right now. It held up. The bread and butter was excellent as well. I'd probably not do a full dinner here again just due to the cost being high for what it was in my opinion.

Went to The Precinct tonight for a family birthday celebration. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. We had a private room and Charlie was in charge of our party. He was friendly, attentive and took exceptional care of our party.
