6/2024 We were in Oxford for freshman orientation. There is a lot of hype about this place in Oxford. I don't get it. They were OK. The facility is clean. The food & service was OK. Limited vegetarian offerings. I did not see the value for the dollar at this restaurant. It was OK. If they were in suburban Columbus/Cincy/Cle, I think they would need to raise their game.

The only reason I would go back is for the roadrunner & rattlesnake dip. The homemade pita were so good. I ordered the rooster & the hen sandwich and it came out burnt and the chicken was veiny. The fries were good! The pickles they served as an app were just salty cucumbers. We sat at the bar because we had a reservation for 4 and ended up needed 5 people and they could not accommodate us because they were booked up! Meanwhile there were open tables the whole time we were there. The bar is not designed to be ate at. The ledge just made it uncomfortable to eat and you couldn't get close enough to the bar with your stool. The decorate was nothing special.

I took my son here for his birthday. There were 6 of us total.Pros: Nice building and ambience. It was a little more upscale than I was expecting. Interesting menu. Cons: My steak was not only undercooked (on one half) but it was tough and flavorless. Hate paying $36 bucks for a bad meal. The staff, while very nice, seemed to be out of their depth when it came to working at a busy restaurant. Good luck finding parking.

Loved every detail of this experience. My dining zone encompasses a huge geographic area, spanning at least four counties (kind of like the Cincinnati Elite Squad territory). I've been to many different places in the past two years, and I make bold to place the P&P in the top five.First the atmosphere- a very real-feeling homage to the Prohibition era. Floors are wood, walls are brick, seats are leather, lights are low and have an early 20th century look. The whole place captures this vibe. No televisions except for a flat screen on a far wall running silent shorts of 90 years past. Jazz, ragtime and other popular music of the day was in the background. I felt transported back in time and I loved it.Service was excellent. Hostess, manager, server were very polished, soft spoken and professional. Our waitress was Shelby, who answered questions, explained menu, made suggestions and checked on us in a timely manner. All the serving staff were in an understated uniform of beige shirt, dark pants and a butcher apron. One of them was sporting a newsboy cap. Their appearance and comportment added to the charming old time ambiance. Speaking of appearance I'm glad we dressed up a bit. It felt right. You want to put on a bit of the Ritz here. The cocktails! Don't come here for Sex on the Beach or a Jaegerbomb. They haven't been invented yet! Have a Manhattan, Gin Fizz or my choice, the Giggle Flower. Sweet and ladylike but with a subtle punch. The cocktail menu is intriguing and fun. The food! They start you off with a dish of house pickles, nice crunchy garlicky little half sour slices. A refreshing change from a bread basket and great if you are cutting carbs. I had the Red Light Chicken and Waffles. Amazing. Chicken so moist, breading crackly crisp and flavorful, waffle thick and eager to soak up the Cajun maple drizzle which was a perfect spicy-sweet balance. My husband had the Southern Gump, I tasted the thinly sliced sausage which was delicious, and the grits, infused with scallion, were so creamy almost like polenta. He would not share any shrimp. I liked the crisp tender texture of the Brussels sprouts, another nice alternative to the ubiquitous flash-fried/glazed prep that is everywhere. It could stand some more seasoning however. The slaw was light and crisp and went well with my dish.Hope to return very soon!

Fancy feel, and the outline of a quality restaurant-but the food and drink missed the mark. Open since September (10 months) the concept of a speakeasy with quality food is a good one for a college town. There is a rumor of special rooms but the main ones were almost completely empty. We went with the Pickle and Pig appetizer but the pork belly was kinda tough and not easy to fit in my mouth and chew. And the cucumber (I think it shouldHave been a pickle) was limp and bland. The shrimp and grits main course was excellent!!! Just the right spice. Shrimp that's been peeled, some sausage. I loved it. The shaved Brussel sprouts on the other hand were inedible. Raw-ish, and flavorless. Drinks were better. But the Clara Bow excitement was a dud. PoorAn acid in a base and the color changes. I wasn't excited.

Excellent ambiance and service. High class bar setting. We enjoyed the Fat Duck Fries as an appetizer. We had The Southern Grump which is grits and shrimp/ sausage. Spice was good but was soaked in grease. It was served luke warm. Would pass on this dishMy daughter had the Angry Italian and would not recommend. We finished with the bread pudding and it was also meh. We cook our own bread pudding and strongly prefer our homemade bread pudding.Overall, great ambiance and service. Although We did not drink alcohol it would be a nice place to pick up a drink and appetizer. I would go elsewhere for a meal.

Such a charming venue that I did not expect to be attached to the Elms Hotel. Note, I don't believe this restaurant has anything to do with the hotel other than location, but I could be wrong.Great bar. I didn't count but there must be 20 barstools. They have an extensive drink menu and our group were all pleased with their drinks. Happy hour prices were excellent but even the standard prices are reasonable.Food was excellent. Our party had a wide variety of dishes including schnitzel, chicken sandwiches, salads, burgers, and the fried fish. Everything was impressive.Service was also on point. Bartenders knew when to check in, servers were knowledgeable and helpful. They really took care of us and I'm looking forward to dining there again.

Yesterday we went to this restaurant. It was my first visit and I was excited as I had read good things about it. The place was nicely decorated, the noise level appropriate and the menu was fun to read. Once seated they bring you a small dish with sliced pickles (more like half sours) which reminded me of delis where a bowl of half sours is on the table. I ordered they called "The Angry Italian" which was described as noodles with arrabiata sauce, chicken and andouille. Others ordered salad, sandwiches and other menu items. My dish arrived and it seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time: it was all clumped together. Overall flavor was fine, but texture left a lot to be desired. Our server was excellent and very helpful. I have seldom had such good service.Overall, the experience was fine, but that was not because of the food, but because of the ambience and company.

Service was pretty terrible. I had made a reservation, but until I pulled it up on my phone, the host chose to ignore me. When we finally got a table, it was too small for three. The food was decent, but overpriced, especially after waiting almost an hour for a table I had reserved. Very nice place, but nowhere comfortable to wait.

Great service and amazing food! Nice to have such a unique alternative for dinner. Love the speakeasy theme and quick delivery of our appetizer (crab dip) and our entrees.
