The Grill Bar

Stopped in on a Friday night after hearing good things and wanting a quick bite. The food menu here is pretty short, which was exactly what I needed. Jalapeno poppers were pretty good - a lot more cream cheese than jalapeno, and it was a long shred of jalapeno so you got the pepper in one bite and cream cheese/breading in the rest. Pork tenderloin was pretty good, just not particularly memorable. Onion rings were good, but a little overcooked (same with the poppers.)Service was excellent, all things considered - it was a pretty full house for the small space, and people were moving to larger tables as they became available so I'm sure the wait staff was doing the best they could.I'm not a big bar guy, so I can't compare to many. Overall the experience was all right - not bad and probably great if this is your scene. Worth giving a shot if a drink and some quick bar food is what you're looking for.

Nice little bar and grill. Busy on a Saturday afternoon. Mostly locals. Service was slow. Just one server for the whole place as far as I could tell. Small grill, so your order has to wait in line. Good food though!

Health department records are publicly available information. I'd recommend folks look into the latest one for Grill Bar. Among the concerning citations (and why I'll never eat here again):- walk-in cooler not clean- inside of ice machine not clean (ice machines carry a TON of bacteria)- soiled towels in the cooler- mop not hung up (meaning it sits in its own dirty water 24/7--probably the source of the smell I mentioned in my first post)I've also noticed I'm not the only person to leave reviews being concerned about their cleanliness, and the owners have never bothered to comment. My guess is they're not too concerned. But I am.

Very friendly staff. We sat outside on the patio with our French bulldog and they were so nice. The food is basic, but delicious. I had the pork tenderloin sandwich and my husband had a cheeseburger. The fries were fantastic!

Food and service were both excellent not to mention the $3 16 oz draft beer. Will definitely go again.

Everything we look for in a neighborhood bar. Welcoming staff, packed with locals, seeing the cook make the meals from the bar, cheap drinks...this one's got it all. We didn't eat here but food looked legit. The bartender was real nice with us. I'd go back in a heart beat for some casual drinks and food right downtown Franklin.

We were looking for a local bar to grab some lunch before we started browsing the shops along Jefferson Street. We walked in The Grill and both said "Oh it's dark in here" just like we like our bars. This is a quaint, laid back, small town bar with a small basic menu with appetizers (mini tacos, cheeseball, poppers, mushrooms) and limited sandwiches (burgers, tenderloins, ham & cheese, BLT, chicken tenders, chicken salad), a full bar and a juke box for tunes. We didn't take advantage of the junk box because we were enjoying the variety of rock and roll playing while there.Everyone from the bartender, cook and server was fun and friendly. The drinks and lunch arrived timely and service was great.They have a limited number of draft (4) beers on tap. My husband had one of (can't remember the name) but he did not enjoy. It was a beer he'd had before but couldn't explain why this one wasn't appealing. He ordered the grilled tenderloin (option of breaded too) which was served with chips. He thought the sandwich was fine but very bland and would have preferred with some type of seasoning (Cajun). I ordered the hot ham and cheese melt on wheat with a side of onion rings. The grilled cheese sandwich was very good with thin slices of ham, tomatoes and dill pickles just as I requested. The onion rings were on the edge of being overcooked but still edible for me. I'm not an extra crispy, or heavy batter, type of person which is why I always warn the server.The laid-back atmosphere was just what we were looking for, nice people, basic menu with nothing fancy and good music. If they just had a few more drafts on tap.

They suck, I felt I was in high school again in the noisy cafeteria..the barmaid was rude as anyone could ever be. I will never return.

MUST visit! Get a burger and a beer and soak up the neighborhood vibe! We always take newbies to town here! No one is ever disappointed!

Good news: the food is great. Burgers are the best in town. Bad news: the service is terrible. If you are not running up a huge tab at the bar, you will be ignored or treated as an inconvenience. The last time I was here, the server messed up my order 3 times. Instead of apologizing, she got mad at us! She yanked away the incorrect order and stormed away. It's a dive bar so I guess the service isn't the priority. Their attitude seems to be "take it or leave it." That's just fine, I'll leave it.
