What a fun experience! I had never heard of The Glitz, but when a friend recently asked me to join her for lunch here, I was in! Getting there from Louisville, I was wondering where in the world I was going, as it was off the beaten path, but it was well worth it. You'll pull up to an unsuspecting building which has plenty of parking. Then you'll go inside the antique mall, which is worth a trip through, and then downstairs to The Glitz. The space is glitzy and fancy but relatable. The menu is set with limited options and changes every few weeks. You can preview it online, but I love the fun that it is a bit of a surprise. Service was quick and friendly as well. You order all three of your courses up front, and they bring them out. We got bran muffins with our entree, and... Wow!!! I have known a bran muffin to be so good. Hehe. Anyway, each course was delightful when I visited. I also told them it was my friend's birthday, so they brought her dessert out with a candle. We dressed glitzy for the experience, but I suppose that's optional. I do believe you'll likely want a reservation as well, so check that out beforehand too. Then treat yourself to a good time at The Glitz!

I really like this brunch spot, located in the basement of an antique gallery, that used to be a school (I was told) and the largest collection of antiques I've ever seen. The restaurant is only open a few days a week and reservations are only taken from 11am- 1:30pm. It's a three course meal that consists of appetizer, entree and dessert. The menu changes every few weeks and you have a selection from a list of three items per course. It's beautifully decorated , but since it's in the basement, it's pretty chilly so bring a sweater. Oh, and it is way off the beaten path. Expect to drive two-lane, curvy roads to get there. In fact, google maps had me on a one lane road for over a mile on my way there. That might be normal for some, but it's kind of scary for me...

Ah the Glitz, a review waiting to happen. I have dined at this establishment a few times in my many years. It is an "unique" experience to say the least. The menu is very minimalistic giving very few options, which is their style supposedly. For my appetizer I got the chestnut soup. Now usually when I eat I prefer chest first and then go down and explore the nuts but the glitz managed to combine the two. My first bite of the soup was like coming out the womb, painful and bloody. I almost put the spoon down then and there but I had the guts to go back in. With each bite it got more pleasant but that could have been the draino talking. For my main meal I got the beef Wellington. This is a dish that is quite challenging so I was quite excited to try. When it arrived I was enticed I must say. I was too nervous to ask its name so I went ahead and just took a bite as per usual. Three words for you. Overdone, wet, soggy, stiff, soggy. Now some of those words could be good but in this situation that is not the case. For the dessert I got the nun-such kiss. This did not disappoint but with that said it is blatantly basic. Ice cream and whipped cream and some cream is hard to mess up even for me. But food aside I need to touch in the ambiance and overall feel of the place. The waitresses and staff are quite friendly and make the dining experience enjoyable. The crowd of this restaurant is primarily women in their 80's. But hey business is business. Now for the verdict... on the gas or ass scale I'm going to be generous and introduce a new word gasass. It combines the two little devils so well. I'll leave its meaning up to your interpretation. Until next time

It's Glitzy, fellas! And it's way out there in the middle of nowhere. But if you're asked to go here by someone you care about, do it. It won't hurt. Your loved one will be congratulated for getting you there and you'll be praised for being a good sport. I went for lunch with my wife and left well fed by nice people. The restaurant and adjoining antique store are housed in a former school building. The restaurant is in the basement and is bedazzled to the point of insanity. In a fun way. The food was quite good! You're given a preset menu with a few choices to make. The portions looked small when delivered, but I was full in the end. They do not serve alcohol but you get a tasty mocktail upon seating. After your meal, you can explore the vast expanse of antiques and creepy dolls and other stuff with eyes. You'll leave knowing full well that they all come to life late at night and clean. Because the place was spotless in spite of being full of really old stuff that I can't imagine turns over with great speed. But I know nothing of antiquing, so...The grounds are pretty, the food is good, the folks are friendly, and you'll score points with someone special.

This is why i hate giving 5 stars for something that isnt exceptional. This was so special. A friend surprised me with it... wouldnt tell me anything. Its a antique gallery that is like none ive seen AMAZING. downstairs is the restaurant and i highly recommend doing the lunch and leaving time to explore the shop. I am a rather picky eater and i thought it was good. But the decor and experience took it to new level. Would be great girl lunch, mom and daughter, date, anniversary or place to propose. Its magical!Only open for lunch and not every day. NEED RESERVATIONS!! 3 COURSE MEAL. Starter, entree, dessert. You have 2 or 3 choices for each.

The Glitz is like having a touch of Downtown Abbey in the heart of Nonesuch, KY! Make a reservation for this little gem and It's almost as if you've received an invitation to dine at the estate house itself! Take a drive through the beautiful countryside of central Kentucky to the middle of nowhere - and as you do, you can begin to leave behind 21st century stress and allow your mindset to be transported to the beauty and opulence that we loved so well in the popular BBC Drama. Roll up to Irish Acres Antiques - a converted 1930's brick schoolhouse with 30,000 square feet of antiques and worthy of a place in the Abbey itself... as you enter, the most delicious aromas waft up from below and suddenly you are twice as hungry as when you arrived. Descend the stairs to the Glitz - the restaurant portion of this experience -- and it is an experience -- don't come here thinking you're just gonna get lunch -- and don't come without reservations-- but do come to this unique and wonderful experience -- where you'll be seated amid glamorous, award-winning decor, by friendly professional staff, at this lunch-only establishment. And while your surroundings are royal the dress code is not. Casual tourist attire is fine. (I won't tell the Dowager if you don't). Relax and start your lunch with a signature non-alcoholic apple cranberry refresher served in a champagne flute. This alone is worth the trip. Just to experience this little delight. Then cast your eyes over the menu- which changes every three weeks but should always have something to please. Choose from three appetizers two entrees and several desserts for a three course meal at only $29.95. But let's not talk money - let's talk about the food!!! The glorious food. I started out with a dreamy butternut squash, sweet potato bisque with a dash of maple creme. I don't even like butternut squash but -- the magic in that bowl -- changed my mind. A bit later my entree arrived, which, for me, consisted of chicken breast, Angel hair pasta and vegetables that were so much better than I am describing here. Just trust me. You'll love it. And then dessert. Ah, dessert. Should you have the grape champagne sorbet or the Nonesuch Kiss, (the house specialty). I'll leave you to decide because you can't go wrong either way. In between the courses, you have choices of water, teas, or regular or hazelnut coffee that is specially blended for the Glitz. You'll leave happy, with your palette, tummy, and wallet satisfied, and feeling like Lady Mary herself. How long you bask in your new found royalty feeling is up to you -- but at least all the back to the city!

I moved to Kentucky a few years ago. My neighbor friend took me for lunch and to look at the amazing antiques. The restaurant was beautiful with bubble like lights everywhere. They played very relaxing music throughout the antique store and restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing! They change the menu I believe every 3 weeks and cook whatever is in season(farm to table). Also, this small menu gives you only 3 choices of appetizers, main dishes, and dessert. I've been to a lot of fancy restaurants(Ritz Carlton, etc), but the Glitz has the best food anywhere! Ps I love their refreshers! I've already been there twice and hope to go again before they close for the winter season.Make sure you make a reservation, as they fill up quickly. We are lucky to have a place like this in Kentucky.

The food was good ! But all staff except for one college aged waitress were rude . I had a very small gift in a drawstring bag ( it would have fit in my purse ) and I was told I had to leave it upstairs and it wasn't allowed in the dining room . The ladies in the gift shop were rude as well . The food was very good, but the experience was ruined by the attitude of the employees .
