The Frigid Frog

The ice cream is all SUPER yummy, everyone who works there is always kind and helpful and all the games make the building very kid friendly and fun. The decorations are pretty and homey.

After going to the old, closed location listed on Yelp on Saturday we accidentally saw this open location as we were driving down Main Street/US 40 on Sunday. It sits at the west end of the strip center behind CVS and hard to see from US 40. Don't drive passed Frigid Frog if you enjoy ice cream, snocones, coffee and popcorn. The exterior has very colorful signage in the windows and outdoor seating with a bright blue picnic table and chairs on the covered sidewalk.We were greeted with a big Hi as we entered. They offer unique ice cream flavors such as Cookie Dough, Superman, Jacked Up Tennessee Toffee, Traffic Cone Blues, Michigan Pothole, Lemon Cheesecake Bar, Pistachio Almond, Mackinac Island Fudge, Cotton Candy Twist, Anniversary Cake, Play Dough and more. All the samples I had were very creamy and flavorful. I ended up with 1 scoop each of the Lemon Cheesecake Bar and Pistacho Almond. Both were perfectly flavorful and refreshing on this hot, blistering day in July. I'm looking forward to trying the many other flavors I didn't get to order.Snocones rule here with many well loved flavors along with many specialty flavors. Try a stuffed snowball with a scoop of ice cream added to the bottom of your favorite shaved iced flavor. The prices are afforable with 3 sizes of ice cream cups from $3-$5 and 5 snocone sizes from the 8 ozs. Tadpole at $2.50 to a huge, 32 oz. Bull Frog at $5. Sour Spray, Sweet and Whipped Cream are available for a small upcharge. There are a few premium flavors, ice cream and snocone flavors, with a $1.50 upcharge so check out the overhead flavor board.My husband went for the snocone with 2 flavors of grape and blue raspberry. He found it tasty, cool and refreshing plus affordable.The girls behind the counter were patient, super friendly and so helpful. The order line, on the left, moved quickly over to the pickup line to the right. There's counter seating along the front window and 4 top tables in the main area. A clean restroom is located in the very back of the store with a baby changing area in the front behind a closed door. You could even nurse here if you didn't mind standing.The Frigid Frog has 3 other rooms off the main area. There's two large leather sectionals, several games, toys and a room where they apparently make cotton candy but not today. Many little ones, with parents, and teenagers were enjoying their snocones while participating in the different games. Great spot for kid's parties.I'm glad we found the open location as we both enjoyed our treats and I'm sure we'll be back.

A hidden gem @thefrigidfrogplainfield there are TONS of different flavors of ice cream and shaved ice. This place is one of my favorites to go and get a sweet treat

Great place to stop for a sweet treat! In the same shop center as Ace Hardware. Parking is right in front or to the side of building. Can get busy but the staff does the best they can and are polite! Love this place

Unbelievable customer service... we ordered ice cream, cookie shavings, and shaved ice. All were amazing. When our son spilled some of his shaved ice, they couldn't have been more understanding. They even gave him some more. What an amazing indoor space too. #hiddengem

Came here after a search for a fun treat but was completely surprised when the employee told us to check out the tv and game room. My kids loved being able to sit and enjoy a treat while watching movies and playing little games, I love the idea
