Interesting venue for a local theater group. We're seeing Rocky Horror Picture Show. No Tim Curry on hand but plenty of off color humor and audiences craziness. Keep awake as the cast will move through the audience and interact with people. Fun and entertaining... the led theater has a bit off that creepy factor. Small lot behind the building and there is street parking available. The building has some really beautiful architectural features.

Theatre seems renovated. Attended a Yelp event there about 13 years ago. It was awesome. This time we went to a play there. Charming environment. Good accouustics. Parking sucks. Few spaces or street parking.

It's a majestic performance space! It's an art gallery! Better yet, it's an entire multidisciplinary art and community center!Upon arrival, the façade is stately and impressive in its own right, but nothing compared to the opulent interior. All of the cool murals, plasterwork, woodwork and the stained glass rotunda are intact. It's clearly still a work in progress but, thankfully, was spared from the wrecking ball through the ages. There's a main theatre, galleries, and open party space with bar. It can be rented for private events and performances, too.The Men's Chorus 2019 Christmas Show brought me here for my first visit. It's hard to not get distracted by all of the lovely architectural details in the auditorium. For instance, the scene fresco'd above the stage is at first glance bizarre, but with further inspection oddly thought provoking. Similar to the CVG/ Union Terminal murals it harkens back to images of pioneer life developing into the big city -- chillingly appropriate for such a regal venue ... in what seemed to be a booming area in the early 1900's.100+ years later and it's great to see there's growth, optimism and a new appreciation for the space. Even years of neglect and minimal patchwork renovations can't hold a place like this back. If you see an event pop up here, it's a must-see (for the space alone!)Hot tip: don't mistake Covington's The Carnegie with Newport's Carnegie Hall, another steel-tycoon-funded-public-library-gone-entertainment-venue closeby in Newport, KY.

I've been to a number of performances at The Carnegie, and have always been impressed. A few years ago, I even bought 6 subscriptions (which was actually a whole row in one section) because the season looked so good. I love that classically-styled little auditorium, and enjoy the art displays when they have them. I most recently saw an excellent production of The Sound of Music, with some impressive singing. I'm looking forward to returning later this year for Into the Woods. I know they'll do a good job of it.

I'd never heard of The Carnegie before they announced the E if for Edie exhibit. Being a fan of both the Harper's work, I decided to make a stop in Covington in my way into Cincinnati to check out the show which is free and open to the public Wed thru Sat from noon - 5 pm We found the lovely building, former library, in a somewhat historic part of town. The parking lot is in the back with a little walk around to get in - we couldn't find the handicapped entrance for my mom, but she managed. Unfortunately, since it was the Friday before New Year, the theatre was closed, it looked like some annual maintenance was going on that day. I peeked in and it was gorgeous. I'd love to come back for a performance. The two, exhibit spaces are on the first and second floors. We were blown away by this gem of a space! The Harper exhibit was basic in its presentation, but encyclopedic. I was so pleased to see so many varied examples of her work. One downside was that we found the text a bit hard to follow due to its size and placement, but managed.

I had heard of an art gallery that was featuring an exhibition of vintage bicycles, so we clambered into the car and headed to Covington to the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center. None of us had ever visited, or heard much about this gallery. We found a dozen different reasons to love the Carnegie, and I'm already counting the days until they shuffle the galleries and we can visit again. Even when we were planning on visiting, we didn't realize that there was a theater within the Carnegie. The museum staff explained that the building used to have political uses; the theater was an area where elections were held. Now they have concerts and theater performed on their intimate stage.Free admission!

I love this theatre venue! I went to see Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory, and it was a great show! Facilities and restroom are all clean, they sell concessions, and have a student price (woo!).The only downfall for this production was that my seat was in the balcony, so anyone who was dancing on the floor (ensemble) was unable to be seen.

I've seen shows here a couple times and both were a great experience. The Carnegie is the combination of an old Carnegie Library and a Town Hall for the city of Covington. The old hall now serves as the theater and the library is now an art gallery. In more recent times, the two have been connected with a handicap accessible hall that once was an alley between the two buildings. The Carnegie routinely hosts some excellent works in both Visual and Performing medias.I have seen friends perform in both Oliver! and most recently in Xanadu. This was the premiere for Xanadu in Cincinnati, a show that is characterized by a healthy tongue-and-cheek look back at the goofiness of eighties pop culture complete with roller skates, leg warmers, and every post modern woop-dee-doo you can think of. Xanadu is a comical parody of the Olivia Newton John movie of the same title. One more week in the run, so check it out if you can!Meanwhile, the gallery is showing a beautiful tribute to the art of colored pencil. Some of the artwork is so well-mastered that the renderings are of a photo-realistic quality. If you have a couple thousand bucks lying around you may find yourself a souvenir to take home.Another accolade for the Carnegie- they sure do know how to host. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The gallery serves as an excellent dwelling space before the shows and during the intermission and is complete with a bar where you can get beer, wine, and some specialty beverages, all at a reasonable price.Show tickets can be a little on the pricier side (more than twice the cost of a showboat show), and the acoustics in the theater aren't the strongest in the city. However, both of the shows I've seen here have been wonderful.

I love the Carnegie! There. I said it. Their plays and musicals are of a phenomenal quality and you get less of the stuffy vibe than you get at the Playhouse ( which I also love, don't get me wrong) . This theater just feels like it has a little more heart. Plus, they do adorable novelty drinks to coincide with the performances, and have great art exhibits even when it isn't play season.
