I had a great little breakfast this morning at this charming little cafe on the Square in downtown Shelbyville. We were welcomed the minute we walked in and offered to sit wherever we wanted. The dining area is long and narrow with a handful of tables and a snack bar with stools. We sat where we had a nice view of the counter. The menus are posted at the tables. Breakfast items are a la carte and inexpensive. The coffee is locally roasted - I ordered a latte which came out fairly quickly. The coffee was strong and good. I ordered a couple eggs, bacon and a bagel. The eggs were cooked well done, like I like. The bacon was sweet and delicious. The bagel came with cream cheese and was fine. The staff is friendly and efficient. The lunch menu is interesting, as well. They carry a few gift items, including the coffee beans, and gift cards in the shop. The cafe is connected to a bookstore and salon on the sides. There was a small group of people having a loud work discussion which detracted a bit from the experience. There is plenty of free public parking and even bike parking. There are tables outside if you want to bring your pup. Restrooms were available. I will be going back to try the lunch menu. I loved it.

While waiting on my husband at the poker table, I decided to grab a cup of coffee at this cute little spot in Shelbyville. The tiny little café was so cozy. The service was wonderful! I had an amazing caramel latté along with half of a turkey panini and cottage cheese. Everything was tasty and it was the perfect afternoon snack. The bookshop next door was adorable. I even snagged a book I'd been looking for! I'd come here again!

This combo coffee shop/diner (as well as sharing a connection to a salon, a bookstore, and other businesses) was a cozy spot to stop for lunch on a cold February day. The shotgun layout had room for some dining tables and a comfy zone by the entryway, but narrowed to stool seating along the bar. The three folks working the panini press and making the meals looked especially narrow and I give them credit for making it work without getting in each other's way.The old bar stools and the black and white checkerboard floor tile gave the place the look of an old diner, but the food was anything but the tired old burger and fry menu. They had a variety of panini and sandwich options as well as coffees of all kinds and pasties.I went with a cup of medium roast black coffee that was delicious and served at an immediately drinkable temperature. While I sipped my coffee, they put together my meal of Harvest Ham Panini with a side of sweet cole slaw (with just a bit too much liquid that was left in the bottom of the bowl.) The Panini came with a half or full sandwich option, and I opted for the full. It featured ham and cheddar, but used a combo of thin sliced apples and a bit of apple butter to round out the flavor with a bit of sweetness, cinnamon spice, and the savory cheese and ham flavors. The panini got crisped and offered a nice crunch without being chewy. I was able to get in and out in a reasonable fashion (plenty of time for folks on their lunch hour.) I was tempted by the covered glass dishes of muffins and scones, but resisted since I wanted to eat a meal instead of pastries at that time of day. They sure looked tempting though!Review #2270

I was in Shelbyville for work and needed an afternoon perk-me-up. This place was right in the town square and it hit the spot! Thanks to Yelp! The cafe is small. Like, don't expect to have a private conversation small. But then again, everyone who was in there while I popped in seemed to know one another and greeted one another pleasantly. It was sweet. :) I walked up to the counter and ordered a cafe au lait and a chocolate scone. I never order baked goods from Starbucks, but this wasn't Starbucks. These appeared homemade. And holy smokes was it good! How are scones both flaky and firm? Is it magic? The coffee was delicious as well. But that scone...If I find myself in Shelbyville near their adorable little town square again I'll be back. And if you find yourself there I'd recommend you pop in too!

I was greeted well upon entry and the barista was very friendly in nature. They have a great ton of options to make your latte your own, but their signature one for the day was peppermint mocha, so I gave that a shot! The perming mocha was good, not great, but flavors were aromatic. The environment was that of a small (I mean literally) local dinner with all its little intricacies that made it feel homely. Besides the barista that greeted me, most of the staff was not welcoming and felt like were forced to their job. Also, they sell lots of local products besides the cafe and I came across Bass Farms. A local company that makes lotions and many others with goat milk. So, I went ahead and bought a lotion as a gift and my friend has loved it! Overall, it's a nice local coffee shop to visit and have a delicious drink if you get the right barista! :)

Waitress must have been having a bad day but she was pretty rude. It was not that busy inside and there are other places I suggest people spend their money.
