Tano Bistro

I recently visited Tano Bistro with a friend who was in town for the holidays, and it was a great choice for a nice sit-down lunch. We made reservations for Sunday and were pleased to find the restaurant comfortably busy but well-staffed. Our server, Shannon, was attentive and greeted us promptly.It was a cold, rainy day, so the grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup immediately caught my eye--and it didn't disappoint! The grilled cheese was buttery and loaded with cheese, perfectly complementing the creamy bisque. My friend opted for the BBQ pork sandwich with Tabasco slaw and fries. The food arrived quickly, and everything looked and smelled amazing.My friend made a smart choice by asking for the slaw on the side, as its Tabasco base packed a serious heat. Had it been on the sandwich, it would have overwhelmed the dish and not been eatable.Overall, we both enjoyed our meals and appreciated the friendly service. Tano Bistro provided a cozy, satisfying lunch on a dreary day, and I look forward to dining there again!

Both meals were incredible. The egg plant was flavorful and the sauce was amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and juicy. The potato's had a scrumptious sauce on them. I would definitely order the potato's again!! The waitress was kind and the service was great. The restaurant was trendy and a great place to have a girls night out or dinner date!

We went to the Tano Bistro in Hamilton for the first time last evening. We were there for a birthday celebration. Our server was Ally and she did a wonderful attentive job. We were both greatly impressed. I had the Shrimp Diablo which was superb. My wife had Seafood Paella which was also very good. The food was fresh and expertly prepared. We will defiantly be back. Great place with a very nice atmosphere. Also, the cocktails we very very good!

My first visit and I was truly impressed with the food, the service and the ambiance. My friend is allergic to shellfish and the staff looked out for her at every turn. The spinach dip is served with chips that are deliciously fried in house, but in the same fryer as their crab cakes. So, they brought a plate of vegetables for her to dip in the delicious warm dip. The salmon sandwich on ciabatta was simply the best salmon sandwich I ever tasted. Here's the description:Salmon Croquettes sandwich. salmon cakes + asparagus + tomato + swiss + lemon dill aioli + ciabattaIt was perfect. The aioli was just flavored enough and the asparagus was a tough of genius!Do go soon. You won't be sorry.

We stopped here for lunch. We had:Shprouts - crispy Brussel sprouts with shishito peppers, shallots and a teriyaki sauce. Absolutely delicious, tops the charts for great Brussel sprouts.Brekkie bowl - chicken chorizo, 2 eggs, avocado, dried cherries, grains, onions cheddar and Crema. A very different, excellent dish. Loved it!Oh ya! I'll be back to this place!

It's delicious- every time! The menu changes seasonally and the staff are always attentive and knowledgeable. The cocktails are on point! One of my favorite places to go for a nice night out.

Going to kick off this review by saying that perhaps it was an off night, but man oh man was this place disappointing. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, and despite there being at least 4 open tables, we were initially told we had to wait. Then we were finally seated at a table that looked into the back of the kitchen. The white wine was served warm, and the Arnold Palmer was pure lemon juice mixed into tea because they ran out of lemonade. All four of our dinners were almost inedible, including a pork chop that tasted like it was dipped in sugar. Our server was nice, but in the end, nothing could make up forthe overall bad experience. Skip this one, folks.

My wife and I stopped into Tano Bistro on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch while in town on personal business. We were quickly greeted and seated outside, but the hostess seemed annoyed that were had interrupted whatever it was that she was doing when we arrived. Not rude, but certainly not welcoming. I noticed this attitude again when I went inside to wash up and passed the manager. I said hello, and he just glared at me...okay. Our waiter was friendly (and VERY talkative), but not very attentive. There were long waits between waters, taking our drink order, taking our lunch order, and finally bringing the check. Lunch took much longer than it needed to. The food was okay, but nothing special. To be fair, we both ordered the fish tacos, so we really only have one item to review. The tacos were okay, but boring with a small piece of lightly seasoned cod, some raw red cabbage, and a little (not-spicy) pineapple salsa on store-bought flour tortillas. I asked for hot sauce after the first bite, but our server forgot and disappeared, so I ate everything without it to avoid letting it get cold. Serving tacos with fries is fine, but something more authentic like beans or rice would have been better. In any event, I don't hate Tano, I just found it to be a bit less than expected after looking at the website. The place was clean and well located, so they have that going for them, and I'm sure folks looking for basic food will be happy there. For the money, I expect a bit more than this.

It wasn't bad, but really unremarkable. I won't be back. The eggplant parmesan had as much cheese as a bagel bite, and the spaghetti with it was just warm. My husband's fries were so hard. I had to ask twice for sugar and a teaspoon for my tea. The restaurant itself is clean and beautiful.

A bit pricey, but great quality of food and very fresh. Service is pretty good, although not as attentive as could be in the Hamilton location.
