I spent a fair amount of time in the '90s traveling on business to Mexico City, and one of my colleagues there loved a hugely popular taco stand near the center of the business district. They were revelations, half rolled soft tacos with delectable fillings unlike anything I'd had in the States. The tacos at this unassuming little West side gem taste EXACTLY like the ones I remember from the Distrito Federal, authentic and flavorful and 1/4 of a mile from my house. I've had the al pastor, pollo, fish, barbacoa, veggies, and the amazing squash blossom fillings, and they all rock. They also have a variety of other handheld items and platos, but the tacos are so freaking good that I haven't tried them. Bienvenido al barrio, amigos!

Best hidden gem/food truck in the city!!! If you're like me, you love to try tacos from all different places. And many of the large companies do them quite well. But Tacos El Joven is on another level! They're a food truck off of Queen City Avenue in Cincinnati that is bringing all of the authenticity that we need when it comes to tacos, quesadillas, tortas and more. They'll make you feel like you stepped right into Mexico. Pictured tacos are: 1 El Pastor 2 Pescado (Fish)3 Asada4 ChickenI always love to visit the hidden gems because their food is made with some much care and love. Chain restaurants can never compare. I cant wait to visit them again. I hear they have an amazing red sauce that I'd love to try and their quesadillas look incredible! They'll definitely continue to get my support!

Great! As a former Californian, yes: just like back out West! A little patio to sit and have your snack was also a nice surprise! They've got all the usuals for a taco, but not too many of the more interesting cuts/meats: all good! Glad they're going strong!

I went to Tacos el Joven upon the recommendation of my foodie friend, so I had high expectations going into it. I'm so happy that these expectations were met - not by the decor or location or convenience, but by the authentic food served by genuine and friendly people. I knew it was the spot when Mexican locals were swinging by to pick up their orders on their way home from work. They have a simple menu posted up on their food truck, and you DON'T see the Americanized versions that are loaded with sour cream and guac. The tacos are two layers of corn tortilla (super important!) topped with meat fresh off the grill, some onion, cilantro, and lime on the side. I had the Asada (it had the texture of ground beef) and it was seasoned perfectly, served hot. My friends had the Pollo tacos and the Tortas, and gave rave reviews as well. Even though I live nowhere near the food truck, I am looking forward to making the drive out there to pick up tacos again soon!

I am not even done with my meal and I just have to rave about how good these tacos are. My partner and I got the pollo, chorizo, asada, pescado, and al pastor tacos. It's rare for me to like every single meat on the tacos we order but they were all seasoned extremely well! They also came with a hot sauce that brought the heat and was very flavorful. I would have to say this has been one of the best tacos I have tried in Cincinnati this far! I cannot wait to come back and try some more!

Love this little shack!I came here on a Tuesday at around 1230pm and there was only 1 order in front of mine. They cook everything to order, so it took about 10 mins for my order to be ready - but no big deal if I get fresh and tasty tacos!Ok, they don't really have an English menu, so I had to look up what everything is before I go in there and wrote them down on my phone. I tried ordering it by their mexican name, but the owner had trouble understanding me, so I just handed her my notes, hahaha. That's how you know your tacos are gonna be authentic. I was super hungry and ordered 5 tacos (yes, I have a problem - I always want to try everything, haha). I got the pescado (fish), asada (steak), flor de calabaza (pumpkin flower), lengua (beef tongue), and tripa (intestine). Thumbs up on the packaging - they separated the veggies so that they don't turn soggy by the heat of the tacos. I was so tempted to just scarfing down the tacos in my car, but my mom taught me that "ladies don't do that", so I held back my excitement until I got home. But man, I was driving quickly and safely (important!!) because I couldn't wait. Generally, everything came wrapped in 2 corn tortillas and HUGE portion. I was very happy.Tripa (intestine): ok, don't judge me. It sounds gross, but it's actually quite flavorful and well-cooked. If you are feeling adventurous, I would definitely recommend!Lengua (beef tongue): this is a hit or miss at some restaurants, but I loved it here. Very generous portion and the beef tongue was cleaned very well with no gamey taste. Tongue is one of the most muscular organs there is, very tender and full of flavor. Flor de Calabaza (pumpkin flower): I love that they also paired it with some corn. Very filling and refreshing after eating so many meaty tacos. Pescado (fish): there really isn't much that came with it, just 2 slices of grilled/ pan fried fish, but the seasoning was there. It was just a bit bland and boring to me compared to the other tacos I got, but nonetheless, it was a well seasoned fish taco. Asada (steak): I don't think I would get the asada again, it's quite dry and resemble more like ground beef than steaks. The seasoning on this one was relatively bland; the asada was relatively unimpressive compared to the other tacos. The trek out there is a bit hideous because of all the constructions, but it is worth the drive - just be prepared to apologize to your car 7292936 times :p

Best tacos between here and Central America, I'd recommend eating here... but only if you like good food! If you don't like good food, than don't eat here. That simple. Also, they are the best tacos in KY.
